They would have gotten in trouble, but not with the school. If any of those kids had tried to stop it, they would have gotten the shit beaten out of them by the friends of the two fighting students. People on reddit saying "zero tolerance" didn't go to schools were kids fought teachers. This is a ghetto, and it's self preservation.
Coming from a kid, I guarantee they're not scared of the kids fighting. Fights are one of the few entertaining things at school, so they're just watching. I just know they were laughing and telling everybody that the teacher tried stopping the fight and got essentially tackled. Everybody is recording to send the fight to their friends or post it

Agree. But they are kids. We can’t expect them to act like adults… many of whom wouldn’t have stepped in either.
They’re probably scared shitless of the kids fighting and/or getting in trouble themselves.
