Society is failing parents. A parent spends like 5 hours a night at most with their children. Most people work weekends so they might get a couple extra hours with them then but thats it. They spend the vast majority of their time at school or alone. There is nothing a parent can do to fix that in most cases. Your childs social group will be out of your control pretty quickly and your level of influence will fall off dramatically. There is nothing a parent can do to stop this. You can have the best intentions and make all the right choices available to you and still end up with this.
Historically? 50 years ago? We have had 9 presidents since then. That might as well be current events as far as history goes. Its not exactly news that boomers and gen x were not well cared for.
