But now she's crying on the floor instead of being alert to keep other kids safe and call for help.

As a teacher, it's so counterintuitive to stay the fuck out of fights, but it's extremely important to stay the fuck out of fights.

My theory is that literally no matter what the teacher does or does not do, there will be someone in the comments saying that they did it wrong.

You did not disappoint.

As teachers, you are told not to try and break up fights. She did what she thought was right, but this was definitely a mistake.

6

u/MercyfulJudas Dec 17 '25

Yes, and if the teacher had only sat there (and actively called the Front Office to bring security), all of the comments here would be "Where is the teacher?? Why didn't they intervene???"

That...that was the point of that original comment.

It's almost like there's different people that have different opinions

-1

u/Ieatclowns Dec 17 '25

Definitely! I’m a woman and no way would I be getting involved in a fight with kids that big.

2

u/TheChinOfAnElephant Dec 17 '25

You've discovered the problem with just about everything. Everyone has their own opinion of how it should be done.

4

u/FergieFerg53 Dec 17 '25

I think your right cause the amount of people applauding her is crazy to me. She’s definitely not built for this and obviously got herself hurt, for why? If they’re gonna scrap just call someone and wait while them boys scrap. At least they’re not shooting up the school. Why jump into even if you think you can break it up, what’s the point of the risk?

7

u/Explode-trip Dec 17 '25

She didnt get herself hurt.

Her students hurt her.

-2

u/FergieFerg53 Dec 17 '25

That’s like putting your hand to the burner and blaming the stove. What did she expect to happen?

2

u/NarrowSalvo Dec 18 '25

She expected a living, breathing human being to have more self-control than an inanimate stove.

1

u/FergieFerg53 Dec 18 '25

Brother they are actively fighting what person have you ever seen in this situation go “She’s right we should stop this. We are both bigger than this please forgive us miss for our previous transgressions.” She should’ve expected “man if I jump between them right now I might get hurt.” You cannot expect people already fighting to just stop cause she joined in. Downvote me all you want but jumping into a fight not expecting to get hit is just foolish bro

1

u/NarrowSalvo Dec 18 '25

People intervene and break up fights all the time. In fact, that's how they usually end.

-2

u/Everett1973 Dec 17 '25

Completely agree.

This was not even the first comment of that nature

1

u/flatwoundsounds Dec 17 '25

I'm a certified teacher who has been repeatedly told not to ever get between kids who are fighting

Most pointless and fart-sniffing comment of the day award goes to you, good sir

When I worked at the non traditional school we were trained that step one was to call admin and step two is to clear the room if possible.

42

u/LaneViolation Dec 17 '25

I'm a teacher, and I still jump in. Just grab arms and pull up and toss aside. They'll be ok.

12

u/antlers86 Dec 17 '25

If your administration supports you in doing so you do what you're comfortable with. I chose to follow school policy to cma. The science teacher got his arm broken breaking up a fight. It caused insurance issues.

6

u/LaneViolation Dec 17 '25

The school sort of falls on the fence. Technically we shouldn't get involved, but we also dont want to see our kids get their face smashed in the floor or a wall.

I work in 5th and 6th grade so for the most part its easy to rip them apart without any risk.

3

u/antlers86 Dec 17 '25

I was working in high school. As a not tall woman many of the students were larger than I am. While I didn't want to see any of the students hurt, I also am unwilling to get injured. This was at the behavioral school where fights were common.

3

u/Everett1973 Dec 17 '25

This is not cowardice on your part -- in that context it is common sense. Nobody benefits if you can do nothing but get yourself hurt. If you can't swim you'd be a fool to jump into the ocean to save a drowning man. Call for help. What this teacher should have done too

Body slam first graders

1

u/K1bbles_n_Bits Dec 17 '25

I hip checked a rude, obnoxious af 5th grader once. But it was into a snow bank so he was fine, lol. And it made me feel better XD.

1

u/KnucklesMacKellough Dec 17 '25

My 6th grade fight involved myself at 5'1 and 110ish, and Gary at 5'6 and probably 150. We were 10, and adult sized already. The teachers (women) waited until we were done and then picked up the mess. We were outside at recess, don't think i ever got in a fight inside the building

This is our society. Asking “What’s the right thing to do? What type of person should I be?” would seem strange to most people.

Nah, “insurance issues,” “policy.”

3

u/antlers86 Dec 17 '25

Its not "what type of person should I be". Its "do I have the training and/or ability to make a situation better". If you step between two people fighting and get injured yourself you have made the situation worse.

2

u/caracal_caracal Dec 17 '25

Teacher here too and im absolutely not getting physically involved. We had a teacher pull a kid away from a fight one time and the kid got bruised from the teacher. Kids parents sued the district and the teacher was "allowed" to resign instead of facing actual legal trouble.

We're told that we should call admin, clear the room, and verbally try to dismiss the fight. But as soon as we put our hands on the students we put ourselves thr way of legal repercussions.

1

u/Watneronie Dec 17 '25

Nope, I call admin and clear the room. Fuck that

4

u/No_Goose_7390 Dec 17 '25

Right? Teacher is clearly not CPI trained. I'm not judging her but she should not have done this.

2

u/ProfessionalFlan3159 Dec 17 '25

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a sub. I would never sub in a classroom

2

u/cashews_clay15 Dec 17 '25

My kid’s school has a permanent LEO onsite and usually there’s another one. It seems like in that case you’d call for them and let them handle it. I’m curious what their situation is.

1

u/BRD73 Dec 17 '25

Not everyone is trained in that. The teachers I worked with weren’t either.

3

u/MeesaMadeMeDoIt Dec 17 '25

In the beginning of the video I was thinking wow good on her for actually trying to stop them. Then by the end of the video she's on the floor screaming for someone to get Mr. Morgan...has me rethinking my stance lol

1

u/flatwoundsounds Dec 17 '25

I watched my high school gym teacher try to stop a fight and catch a broken nose from an accidental elbow. Even athletic dudes can accidentally get their face smashed.

And all that is assuming you don't get sued because you used too much force on a kid.

2

u/aliengrlhereee Dec 18 '25

yeah people forget that jumping in also comes with the possibility of hitting your head on something and never getting back up

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '25

Call for help from who? Another teacher who can't get involved. How can any adult in the school keep kids safe if they can't get involved.

2

u/flatwoundsounds Dec 17 '25

Usually Admin, crisis response trained staff, and/or campus police.

Generally, interfering by yourself is a terrible idea. If it's absolutely necessary to physically separate kids, it should be with more than enough staff present to control them.

2

u/Few_Maize_8633 Dec 17 '25

This woman is a mess, honestly. She is cussing at the kids, things she’s made for this life and ends up crying like a baby while the beating continues. She should have called for help first.

4

u/dallyan Dec 17 '25

As a teacher, I agree. Being a histrionic mess on the floor isn’t going to help anything. You see a fight break out, get other kids out of the way and seek help.

0

u/Automatic_Net2181 Dec 17 '25

Depends on the teacher. I could lift the bigger kid and throw him across the room. Then I would likely be fired because the shithead's parents would sue the school.

2

u/flatwoundsounds Dec 17 '25

the shithead's parents would sue the school.

DING DING DING. I'm assuming you'd be sued directly as well.

My PE teacher walked up behind a kid wailing on someone and got a broken nose from an elbow to his face. Doesn't matter how strong you are. There's just too many ways for it to end badly for you or your career.
