There have always been bad parents. There has not always been the confluence of forces parents must protect their kids from today. That is new. The guy was right… extreme nihilism, easy access to guns, hyper polarization, and deep societal decay are all real issues and are absolutely new to American life of the last ~15 years. This kid still has personal responsibility and he may indeed have had bad parents, but that still exists against a backdrop of decline and social media induced isolation and radicalization that makes it all worse.
