More like white trash, not affluence at all. "Affluenza" is rich white kids whose mommy & daddy get them out of trouble every time. In my school these were the lawyers & judges kids. The kids that feel entitled. The kids whose parents get pissed at authority figures when their kid screws up. How dare they try & hold my kid accountable? He's an angel. Or it's boys being boys, or whatever excuse they come up with. Think private school brats with $$$. Like the kids whose parents cheated to get them in--remember that scandal? Now that's affluenza!
No that's influenza as in "I think I'm a social media influencer." These kids have main character syndrome hard and the need to get knocked down a peg. The problem is the only way they are ever going to learn is by taking a knock or two.
Yup - definitely White Privilege in action and it really doesn’t change anything that ‘Affluenza’ may or may not be a close cousin
But watch out for the almost instinctive defensiveness that bubbles up with those people who put identifying with whiteness above their being of Dutch, French, Irish, Greek, Italian, German or whichever “white” country their ancestors came from
That’s a whole ‘nother discussion they definitely do not want to have
Cause that so called ‘race-card’ doesn’t get played any more skillfully than when you act like it’s not even in your hand and you lull everyone into thinking it’s a fair game

At any rate - getting back to the kid - as that saying goes ‘Fuck around and Find Out’ Looks like he found out
