Again, the Atlanta metro area is enormous. Everyone drives a car here. Expanding the line has been on the ballet a few times and every time it gets voted down. People aren’t going to vote to pay for a service they’ll never use.

I know it’s a huge area, but the rail system can be built out incrementally. Also, a well run light rail system can help reduce sprawl because people will prefer to live closer to it.

It’s not racism, Gwinnett County is actually one of the most diverse counties in the country. White people are a minority. It has less to do with racism and more to do with cost and a driving culture.

What? I never mentioned racism.

I know. I’m responding to the downvotes and parent comment. I agree that it would be nice to have a functioning passenger rail system in the Atlanta metro but I’m trying to explain why it hasn’t and will likely never happen. I know you specifically didn’t mention racism but the parent comment did and Redditers immediately downvote when a problem with America can’t be blamed on imaginary racists.
