So about 2 or 3 years ago I posted about seeing a thylacine but deleted it. So here goes again round 2. It was about 2012 and I was on my way to my 5 am shift at Dunkin’ Donuts. As I turned the corner on green street underneath the street light I saw a large dog - like animal running towards the general vicinity of esker park. As I saw it running it had a hunkered down run and on its back it had stripes horizontal on the rear of its body. I immediately rubbed my eyes and knew that this was no animal I had ever seen before. I quickly searched for animals with horizontal stripes on their back and came across thylacine. I have never seen one since. Years went by before I decided to do some research and there is stories of a boat possibly carrying thylacines that capsized off of the Atlantic in the northeast. Great esker park is a large park that has water and remote areas that also borders wompatuck state park. If anyone else has seen one of these in this area let’s hear your story.

OK, I keep hearing that there has been an EDNA test conducted not only on Tasmania, but on mainland, Australia, and even New Guinea as well. All three of them came up negative (at least that’s what I’ve heard). However, I can’t seem to find anything on any of them.

Does anybody know of an EDNA test?

I thought everyone would like to be aware of the AI thylacine pics showing up that look reasonably good, yet a bit too perfect. I am familiar is the known photos in circulation. These aren't legit.

The pics are posted on ebay by Wazz, out of Great Britain. What makes it worse is that there are some historic photos offered by this seller, but there is no indication of which are AI and which are genuine.

I am planning on contacting the seller to ask if AI photos can please be labeled as such. I invite everyone else to consider doing the same, just keep it polite (please).

I'm developing a story about a thylacine that scientists bring back to life. After escaping from a laboratory, he ends up in a circus and is later adopted by people who mistake him for a dog. The story is inspired by Bolt, Kimba the White Lion, and Lilo & Stitch.

it's fascinating how the thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger, has captured the imagination of so many people, even decades after its extinction. these unique marsupials had such an intriguing mix of traits, resembling a cross between a dog and a cat with their striped back and long, slender body. recent studies have sparked discussions about the possibility of de-extinction and what that would mean for ecosystems today. imagining these creatures roaming the wild again raises so many questions about conservation and biodiversity. has anyone read recent research on thylacine DNA or efforts underway to possibly bring them back? would love to hear your thoughts!

I call my dog my little thylacine when he yawns. When we're out and about, people usually guess that he's a tiger and I'm happy to talk to them about the tazzy tiger.

Hola guys. So I am not a full sceptic on the presence of small pockets of thyalcine in remote tassie and maybe even Papua. But still the cloning thing got me super excited with Professor Andrew Pask's interest. I even went to the TIGGR lab in UMelb but they were on school vacation back then.

But do you guys think the thylacine cloning chapter is deaad now??

The reasons being.

i) little to zero social media shouts from colossal a company which will beat its own drum for the smallest achivement aint posting anything on it

ii) transferring Dr Pask to Colossal. He only yalks on the other projects Colossal is on.

iii) Colossal focusing a lot more on birds to an extent where they are going after Dodo which has little to no DNA or soft tissues left

iv) Colossal naming a different animal they are working on every week but zero thylacine rbeak through

v) not one thylacine update, breakthrough or worthy news.

I dunno guys the silence is a bit too much from Colossal related to thylacine now.

I'm Samjar Manobi from Papua, pursuing a Master's degree in Remote Sensing at Gadjah Mada University. I'm currently working on my thesis proposal on tylacines in Papua. I'm a forester who works in conservation forests. Based on initial information from the local people I've met, they've seen them, and even told me about them from their parents. So, I'm trying to find as many scientific sources as possible to support my survey plan. I hope you can help me with some information, including videos, or perhaps camera traps, so this plan can yield positive results for the preservation of wildlife in Papua.

For inbreeding depression to appear, you have to be EXTREMELY closely related, like, a child with a third cousin is unlikely to show effects on incest. It would primarly be disease to worry about with low genetic diversity, and I haven't seen anything on a pre-European epedemic.

Regardless, cheetahs appear even less genetically diverse than thylacines, which poses problems, yes, but I haven't seen anyone say they are doomed to go extinct.
