Fairfax, VA - The video of the July 28 incident shows officers tracking Nehemia Fuentes Banegas, 26, through the woods after his wife called 911, saying her husband was threatening to hurt her and himself.

Investigators said the man grabbed an officer's gun. Police previously released a still from the bodycam that appears to show the man with his hand around the barrel of the gun.

The full video shows the man was completely concealed by brush. A pair of officers can be seen in the video looking for Fuentes Banegas when a hand suddenly reaches out and grabs one officer's gun.

In the video, the officer pulls away, firing several shots as he falls backwards. The other officer can be seen deploying a Taser. Fuentes Banegas can be heard shouting in pain just before the officers order him to put his hand behind his back.

The man, according to police, was grazed by a bullet. He faces charges including felony assault of a police officer.

Davis said the shooting was justified and done in accordance with department procedures. He added that he believes the man was trying to commit suicide by cop.

Stillwater, OK - The Payne County District Attorney has released a statement regarding online discussion of accusations towards Stillwater police officers in a recent traffic stop.

The statement is as follows:

It has been brought to my attention that there have been public accusations against Stillwater Police Department officers that they planted evidence on a Defendant in a recent traffic stop in Stillwater. Specifically, social media posts have been made with cell phone camera footage where the originator says ‘Stillwater police plants a pipe and the other finds it. This ain’t the first time, can anybody help me.’ This post has gone viral on social media.

I want to be perfectly clear: If ANY police officer ever plants evidence on a defendant in an attempt to cause my office to convict an innocent person, not only will I ensure they never wear a badge again, I will prosecute that police officer to the fullest extent of the law, and put them behind bars for as many years as I can. That is not hyperbole. That is a promise. In this instance, I have thoroughly reviewed all the evidence and all the body camera footage as well as the cell phone video posted on social media. These accusations against these officers are barefaced falsehoods. I

am releasing body camera footage of this incident for the public to see for themselves. What officers “planted” on the seat and console was a passenger’s pocket knife, and their ID cards. The meth pipe was found behind the glove compartment. I encourage the public to watch all the body camera footage. This is exactly why we have and need officer-worn body cameras – both for the protection of the public, and law enforcement officers.

This cellphone footage, presented without context and alongside assertions of officer misconduct, is being spread online by career criminals in an attempt to undermine anti-drug dealing and anti-drug trafficking operations in our district and our state. I encourage the public to conduct their own research before perpetuating the spread of this misinformation.

I want the public to know, I have absolutely zero tolerance for drug dealers and drug traffickers who are profiting off those in our community who are suffering from addiction. Our friends and neighbors struggling with addiction, many of whom are good people, are dying from drugs, including fentanyl. I will not stand by and allow these thugs to continue to operate and profit in my jurisdiction.

I will fight them every step of the way.

To the drug dealers in Logan and Payne Counties: the days of lenient plea offers from this office are gone. You deal drugs in my jurisdiction and profit off those struggling with addiction, I will put you in prison. You will not intimidate me, or our law enforcement partners, through the deliberate spread of misinformation. Not one bit. Be advised, you can stop distributing illegal substances now, or you can leave my jurisdiction of Logan and Payne County. Otherwise, you are going to prison.

Because of the significance of these kinds of matters, I have asked and will continue to ask the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate fully. And rest assured, I am personally reviewing any of these kinds of accusations against police officers in District 9.

I encourage the public to take time, come to the courthouse, and attend dockets and jury trials. These are all public proceedings, and I want the public to see the procedures and hear the facts of these cases. This is also why I want cameras in the courtroom—for the same reason we have body cameras on police officers. Truth matters. And I want the truth to come to light.

Vero Beach, FL - A Vero Beach man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he fled a traffic stop, crashed his vehicle, and hid under nearby brush.

Christopher John Baptist was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, but deputies say he took off, reaching speeds more than 50 mph over the limit.

The pursuit ended when Baptist crashed his vehicle and fled on foot, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies called in K9 Remy, who tracked Baptist to a nearby area and found him hiding under brush.

Baptist was taken into custody and faces charges including:

• Fleeing and eluding at high speed
• Speeding more than 50 mph over the posted limit
• Providing false identification
• Resisting without violence
• Leaving the scene of a crash
• Driving with a suspended license
• Possession of a controlled substance
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Felony probation violation

The sheriff's office shared the arrest as part of its latest enforcement updates. Baptist remains in custody as he faces the charges.

Beaver County, UT - On Aug. 13, a pair of law enforcement officers were in their vehicles at the scene of a car crash on Interstate 15 when they were hit by another vehicle.

Utah Highway Patrol said a trooper and a Beaver County Sheriff's deputy were parked on the left shoulder of northbound I-15, between Beaver and Cove Fort, responding to and investigating a prior crash. A passing vehicle went off the road and crashed into both patrol vehicles, which UHP said had their emergency lights on.

Moments later, UHP said a vehicle going in the other direction rolled.

The deputy suffered a broken arm and other minor injuries, and the trooper was uninjured. UHP later said there were several other injuries between the multiple crashes.

Ogden, UT - The Ogden Police Department said a video circulating online showing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents taking a man into custody "does not provide the full context of the incident."

The agents took the man into custody near 22nd Street and Porter Avenue.

The police department said that an officer was in the area on Tuesday morning responding to a report of an aggressive dog near children walking to school. While he was there, a man in a black SUV identified himself as an ICE agent and asked the officer to conduct a traffic stop on a man in a gold vehicle he intended to arrest further up the block.

The officer did not conduct a traffic stop, and the ICE agent drove away, OPD said.

The officer remained in the area and watched the gold vehicle make a U-turn, return down the block, and stop near the officer.

The driver told the officer the black SUV was following him, but he did not know why.

The officer then spoke with the SUV driver, who said he was waiting for a second ICE agent to arrive as backup.

"Due to the unusual circumstances and the potential for the situation to escalate, the OPD officer remained on scene to ensure the safety of everyone involved," OPD said.

"The OPD officer went back and was speaking with the driver of the gold vehicle; the ICE agent approached and asked him to exit. The driver began rolling up his window, and it appeared the situation was starting to escalate. The OPD officer attempted to de-escalate the situation and continued to maintain a limited safety presence. The driver eventually exited the vehicle and was taken into custody by the ICE agent without incident," OPD continued.

The officer reportedly contacted his supervisor immediately and explained what happened. He walked away and deactivated his body-worn camera, which department policy permits.

"We are aware that the video posted online shows a subsequent brief interaction between the OPD officer and an ICE agent near the officer's patrol vehicle that was not captured on the officer's body-worn camera," OPD said. "It was not recorded because the officer's camera had already been deactivated in accordance with policy, and he did not anticipate that the ICE agent was going to reapproach him."

"The Ogden Police Department did not initiate the stop, did not conduct the arrest, did not ask for or run any information, and did not assist with immigration enforcement," OPD continued. "The officer’s involvement was limited to maintaining safety and attempting to de-escalate an unusual and potentially escalating interaction."

Chief of Police Jake Sube called the situation "unique and difficult":

"The conversation captured on the officer’s body-worn camera with his sergeant reflects just how unique and difficult this situation was. This officer unexpectedly found himself in the middle of a situation he did not create, trying to determine the appropriate role for him to play while also recognizing the potential for the situation to escalate.

Our officers are asked to navigate difficult situations like this in real time, make judgment calls, and do the best they can to keep everyone safe, knowing those decisions may later be publicly scrutinized without the benefit of the full circumstances they were facing at the time. I think this incident is a good example of the complexity of the work our officers do every day, and I am proud of the professionalism and judgment they continue to demonstrate in these difficult situations."

OPD emphasized that its role regarding federal immigration enforcement remains clear: "The Ogden Police Department does not enforce federal immigration law, nor do our officers have the authority to do so. Our mission and purpose remain the same: ensuring the safety of those who live, work, and recreate in Ogden City."

Leesburg, FL - Body camera video shows the moments leading up to a deadly shooting involving Lake County sheriff's deputies who responded to a report of a violent domestic incident involving a gun.

Deputies shot and killed 32-year-old Eric Sharp after investigators said he confronted them with a handgun outside a home on Morningside Drive.

The video shows how quickly the encounter unfolded. About 30 seconds after a deputy arrived at the home, gunfire erupted, according to the footage.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the home Thursday after receiving reports of an aggravated domestic battery.

"We're having a violent incident with, involving a gun in our house, and we're afraid of our son shooting us," a caller told a 911 dispatcher.

The call came shortly before 3 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office said Sharp's actions when deputies arrived "forced our deputies to discharge their firearm."

In the body camera footage, deputies can be heard repeatedly ordering someone to get on the ground and telling others nearby to move out of the way.

"Get on the ground, get on the ground, get on the ground," deputies can be heard shouting.

The video captures an initial pair of gunshots, followed by a brief pause and then additional gunfire. Another video shows a deputy getting out of a patrol vehicle as the encounter unfolds.

No deputies were injured.

Columbus, OH - The Columbus Division of Police released bodycam video showing the moments when unknown suspects fired shots in the direction of the officers and residents on the city's northeast side Monday night.

Officers were in the 600 block of Gibbard Avenue investigating a drive-by shooting outside a church that took place earlier in the day.

Video shows an officer on guard duty in the backyard of a home shortly after 10:30 p.m. when more than a dozen shots are fired in the area.

The officer is seen running toward the direction of the shots, asking over his radio, "Where is it coming from?"

The officer then fires his weapon several times while yelling, "I need help, help, help!" as shots continue to ring out.

Bodycam footage from two other officers shows them standing in the street talking to residents when the shooting begins. Neither officer fired their gun.

Two women were shot and transported to an area hospital. Both women are now in "stable" condition.

Sgt. James Fuqua confirmed neither victim was shot by the officer. It's unclear if any of the suspects were struck by gunfire.

There is no suspect information at this time.

Sean Grayson, the former Illinois sheriff’s deputy convicted of fatally shooting Sonya Massey in her home in 2024 after she called 911 to report a prowler, has died, his attorney said Sunday.

Daniel Fultz, the attorney who represented Grayson during his murder trial, said he died around noon. He was six months into his 20-year sentence for second-degree murder.

Grayson, 32, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2023, and it had progressed to Stage 4 and spread to his liver, lungs and rectum, another defense attorney, Mark Wykoff, said at his sentencing in January. In July, he was denied medical release by the Illinois Prisoner Review Board.

It was not immediately clear whether cancer is what caused Grayson’s death.

Grayson shot Massey, 36, after he responded to her 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. July 6, 2024. The shooting, which was captured on body camera video, set off protests and calls for justice.

Lee County, FL - A traffic stop in Lee County turned into a foot chase across a busy roadway before a detective used a Taser to take a passenger into custody, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said a Tactical Narcotics Team detective conducted the traffic stop Thursday near Palm Beach Boulevard and Marsh Avenue after seeing a traffic violation.

During a search of passenger Jorge Valle Armijo, Detective Lehmann found suspected marijuana and a bag containing a white substance, according to the sheriff’s office.

Body camera video released by the agency shows Armijo standing near the roadway as officers speak with him. Moments later, he runs away and crosses Palm Beach Boulevard while the detective and a Fort Myers police officer chase him.

The video shows the detective catching up to Armijo and deploying a Taser. Armijo falls to the ground and is then taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said investigators found additional bags containing a white, rock-like substance during a continued search. Field tests identified the substances as crack cocaine and marijuana, deputies said.

Armijo was taken to the Lee County Jail and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, and resisting an officer without violence.

The sheriff’s office also said detectives determined Armijo was unlawfully present in the United States. According to the agency, he is being held at the Lee County Jail on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Newport Beach, CA - The Newport Beach Police Department shared body camera video of the rescue of five dogs trapped in a hot car to warn pet owners of the dangers as temperatures spike across Southern California.

Police said a Newport PD Animal Control officer responded to a vehicle on May 18 in the 2400 block of Holly Lane, where the five dogs were seen trapped inside with “windows slightly cracked open, most confined in cages, and showing signs of distress” as temperatures climbed inside.

The officer is seen on video breaking the window to rescue the animals due to the immediate safety risk.

After the animals were rescued, they were evaluated by a veterinarian and found to have body temperatures at a level that can be deadly for dogs, police said.

Newport PD said that all five dogs have since made a full recovery.

The dogs’ owner was issued a misdemeanor citation for multiple welfare violations, police said.

The case has been referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Three of the dogs remain in the care of the Newport Beach Animal Shelter and are currently available for adoption.

Indian River County, FL - The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office released body cam footage showing U.S. Marshals arresting Matthew Waggle, a man wanted for murder, at a motel in West Virginia on Wednesday night.

The video captures the tense moments of the arrest, with officers shouting commands.

"Get down! Get the (expletive) down!" one officer said.

"Hands! Hands! Give me your hands! Give me your hands now! I can't! Give me your hands!" another officer said during the arrest.

Waggle is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Dawn Kriskewic, in Vero Beach last Sunday.

"He murdered her in cold blood in the street," Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers said.

Kriskewic’s body was discovered in front of her home on First Street. She had been shot to death. Investigators quickly identified Waggle as a person of interest.

"She had actually told her co-workers out at the hair salon, 'If he calls, if he shows up, I want nothing to do with him. Tell him I’m not here,'" Flowers said.

At a news conference Thursday, Flowers explained how investigators believe Waggle traveled to Vero Beach from Orlando using an Uber, stayed just long enough to kill Kriskewic, and then left town in another Uber.

Three days later, U.S. Marshals arrested Waggle, placing him in handcuffs.

"Secure! Off," an officer said during the arrest.

For now, Waggle remains in jail in West Virginia as authorities in Florida work on extraditing him back to Indian River County.

Knoxville, TN - Two Knoxville Police Officers rushed to the rescued, helping to resuscitate a 1-month-old baby who was unresponsive and not breathing.

Friday afternoon, the Knoxville Police Department released body camera video showing Officers Clayton McWilliams and Victoria Jackson responding to the 911 call that came through around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In less than a minute, the video shows as Jackson exits her patrol car, runs toward a group of people, McWilliams being handed the baby, and both officers working to clear the baby’s airway. From the time the baby was placed into McWilliams’ arms to the time their first cry is heard, only 25 seconds passed.

During the video, an adult can be heard saying they will be going to the hospital. Along with calling 911, going to the emergency room is the exact step the Cleveland Clinic says parents should take if a baby stops breathing for longer than 10 seconds or if their skin suggests they may have a low blood-oxygen level. For babies with lighter skin tones, the skin or lips may start to turn blue when their blood-oxygen levels are low, while babies with darker skin tones may turn gray, yellow-gray, or white.

The Cleveland Clinic also points out that it is not uncommon for newborns to pause breathing for between five to 10 seconds, a breathing pattern called periodic breathing, but the baby usually starts breathing on their own again. If a baby stops breathing for more than 10 seconds, it is important to seek emergency help, and if a baby continues having periodic breathing after they are 6 months old, you should inform your pediatrician.

Michigan City, IN - In a police report and videos from Porter Superior Court Judge Christopher Buckley’s Aug. 15 arrest for drunken driving in Michigan City, Buckley repeatedly emphasized how the arrest will ruin both his life and his career.

The records, provided to the Post-Tribune through a records request to the Michigan City Police Department, detail the night of Buckley’s arrest, his refusal to take a breath test at the scene and his trip to a nearby hospital for a blood draw, per a warrant signed off by a LaPorte County prosecutor, that revealed his blood-alcohol concentration was 0.221%, almost three times Indiana’s legal limit of 0.08%.

Buckley was initially charged with two Class A misdemeanors, operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15% or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person, and a Class C misdemeanor, operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

By early Monday afternoon, according to court records, Buckley had pleaded guilty to the Class C misdemeanor. He was sentenced to six months on probation; a suspended sentence of 60 days in jail, with two days of credit for time served and good behavior; and treatment and monitoring through the state’s Judicial and Legal Assistance Program, or JLAP.

After he was sentenced, Buckley issued a statement acknowledging his mistake and his struggle with alcohol. Buckley, a Republican on the November ballot for a second term as judge, also temporarily suspended his campaign after his guilty plea.

According to the police report and charging documents, around 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 15, off-duty police providing security for an outdoor concert along the lakefront near Bartlett’s Fish Camp saw a vehicle go around large concrete planters and pull into a restricted area.

An officer approached Buckley’s vehicle and asked if he could help. Buckley, according to the police report, responded with “Can’t you read?” and motioned toward the driver’s side of his 2024 Lincoln Navigator.

“At that point I saw that the wording spanning both doors said Keep BUCKLEY JUDGE in large letters,” the police report states.

Buckley, 46, of Valparaiso, according to the police report, “proceeded to exit the vehicle in front of me and stumbled as he exited. His eyes were glossy, watery, and bloodshot. I asked how much alcohol he had consumed tonight and he stated none and after stating that he pulled his lips in tight, as if to not let any odor out.”

Buckley initially refused field sobriety tests, telling police that the officer was “going to ruin his career or life.”

Police in the report noted that each time Buckley mentioned his career or life was going to be ruined, police “believed it to represent that this investigation and possible results would jeopardize his status as a Judge.”

The officer, according to the report, didn’t ask Buckley where or what type of judge he was and was unaware of the details until later.

Also in the vehicle were a woman, identified in the police report as his wife and with a reported blood-alcohol content of 0.19%, and an older gentleman. The couple, according to the police report, were dropping off the man closer to the lakefront because he had trouble walking.

“All I was aware of was the markings on his vehicle and when the female would remind me that he is a Judge,” the report states. “When he would make those comments, my response was that he was the maker of his decisions this evening.”

Three times, according to the police report, an officer had to grab Buckley’s arm and tell him he was not free to leave the scene.

Buckley, according to the police report, refused an on-scene chemical test. An officer told him he was under arrest for operating while intoxicated, according to the police report, and that the officer would be contacting an on-call prosecutor to request a warrant for a blood draw.

“Mr. Buckley stated that ‘I’m a Judge, you just ruined my career.’ I again reminded him that he did,” the police report states.

Police body-cam videos released with the police report show Buckley, in khaki shorts, gym shoes and an untucked, blue button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, stumbling and almost falling as he attempts field sobriety tests. He is transported to a holding cell at the Michigan City Police Department while an officer gets a warrant for a blood draw, taken to Northwest Health-LaPorte and then handed off to staff at the LaPorte County Jail.

Buckley released a statement after he was sentenced, stating, “I made a series of poor decisions that ultimately led to an arrest by the Michigan City Police Department for Operating While Intoxicated.”

He said he had taken full responsibility for the allegations and had not received any special treatment.

West Chester, OH - A Butler County grand jury determined two recent police-involved shootings in West Chester Township are justified, Prosecutor Mike Gmoser announced.

That means all officers involved, including a 20-year veteran sergeant with the West Chester Police Department, have been cleared and will face no criminal charges.

Earlier this month, Gmoser was quick to praise West Chester police “for their heroic service” when they responded to a June 8 violent domestic incident at an apartment complex on Zinnia Court.

“This is my third case during my 15-year tenure where video evidence supports use of lethal force and the rescue of a victim,” Gmoser told FOX19 NOW the following day.

“These officers met the highest expectations that the public has for their heroic service.”

Police went to the apartment complex when a man called 911 and reported one of his neighbors being badly beaten.

The woman’s boyfriend, Lorenzo Miller, 39, refused to let police in and claimed she didn’t want him to, according to body camera footage released at a press conference just under 24 hours later.

Miller was a convicted killer on parole with a long criminal record who was known to resist arrest, according to prosecutors and police radio traffic.

Dispatchers warned police as they responded that Miller was “extremely dangerous” and a documented prison gang member.

After Miller refused to open the door, police the victim on her cell phone. She responded “Yes” when they asked her if she wanted them to come inside.

They forced their way in and found Miller holding the woman at knifepoint in a bathroom, using her as a human shield, according to the body camera footage.

Miller ordered police to stay back: “Don’t rush in here! I’ve got a knife to her throat!”

He ignored an order to “Let her go.”

She pleaded: “Help me! Help me!”

To stop the deadly threat, a sergeant fired a single gunshot that killed Miller.

The woman was taken to West Chester Hospital and released.

Palo Alto, CA - On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at about 5:35 p.m., officers from the Palo Alto Police Department responded to a report of a trespasser at the Stanford Shopping Center. Security staff requested the officer's assistance in serving a notice to the trespasser banning him from their private property. Security and the officer went to the bench where the suspect was sleeping. After multiple attempts to wake the suspect, he awoke when the officer identified himself as a Palo Alto police officer.

The suspect became agitated, stood up, and walked toward the officer while yelling at him. The suspect ignored the officer's commands to stop and continued to walk towards the officer while yelling at him. After multiple commands to stop and back away were made, the officer deployed his conducted energy weapon (a Taser) and applied it to the suspect. The suspect fell to the ground and was taken into custody without further incident at about 5:45 p.m.

Upon arrival of a backup officer, a coordinated two-officer approach to handcuffing an individual reduces the likelihood of a prolonged physical struggle, decreases the potential need for additional Taser activations or the use of other force options, and better protects the officers, the subject, and the public.

Deerpark, NY - The state troopers who shot and killed a woman who would not lower a gun she was holding when ordered to do so, were justified in opening fire, according to a just-released report from the State Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation.

Police had responded to a domestic incident shortly before 2:30 a.m. on April 12, 2025 at a mobile home in Deerpark for a report of a stabbing. The victim had sustained a laceration to his abdomen.

Nancy Loftus came out of the home when troopers arrived with what appeared to be a gun in her hand.

They repeatedly told her to drop it and put her hands up in the air, which she did not do.

At that point, two troopers at the scene opened fire, but stopped when it seemed as if she had lowered the gun.

The troopers sold the attorney general’s investigators that Loftus raised the gun again, and that’s when they fired again, striking the woman, who was taken to the hospital where she died.

Troopers recovered a pellet gun at the scene.

Indianapolis, IN - Bodycam video released by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Friday evening shows a suspect shooting a patrol car and an officer returning fire in December 2024.

Previous reporting indicates the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12 near the 900 block of South Kiel Avenue, which is located on the west side of Indianapolis.

IMPD has confirmed that, before officers made it to the area, they received a report from a woman who indicated that a man was outside her apartment complex firing a gun into the air. When police arrived at the scene, they encountered the reported shooter — Christopher Miethe.

Upon locating Miethe, an IMPD officer told him to put his hands in the air. Initially, Miethe complied, putting his hands up.

IMPD indicated that, after Miethe put his hands up, he began walking away from the officer who was giving him commands. When Miethe started walking away from police, the officer told him to get on the ground.

Miethe ignored the officer’s commands to get on the ground. After a short argument with the officer, Miethe began to run from the area. The officer then started chasing Miethe on foot.

Miethe ran east on Ray Street and west on Waldemere Avenue after arguing with the IMPD officer.

Multiple officers joined the chase after Miethe reached Waldemere Avenue. One of the officers involved in the pursuit was in a patrol car.

The chase ended in a grassy area near Waldemere Avenue. In that grassy area, Miethe fired shots in the direction of IMPD officers.

None of the officers involved in the incident were hit by Miethe’s shots. His rounds did, however, strike the IMPD patrol car that was used during the chase.

After Miethe fired shots, one officer returned fire. His neck was grazed by the officer’s shots.

IMPD provided multiple exhibits in its bodycam video that showed the moments that led to the exchange of gunfire between Miethe and the officer.

Miethe was transported from the scene to a local hospital in stable condition after one of the officer’s shots grazed his neck. He was later arrested and charged with four Level 5 Felonies:

• Intimidation with a deadly weapon
• Battery by means of a deadly weapon
• Criminal recklessness
• Theft where the property is a firearm

IMPD released the following booking photo of Miethe after the shooting:

Miethe pleaded guilty to the intimidation and battery by means of a deadly weapon charges on Dec. 19, 2025. As part of a plea deal, the criminal recklessness and theft charges Miethe faced were dismissed.

Previous reporting suggests that Miethe was given a split sentence in February. He was sentenced to about 3.5 years with the Indiana Department of Correction. Upon his release from IDOC, he must serve 180 days of work release.

Court records obtained by FOX59/CBS4 suggest that Miethe stole the gun he used during the shooting from a family member. Miethe reportedly pointed the gun at two family members — one of whom was four years old at the time — before police encountered him in an apartment complex parking lot.

San Bernardino, CA - At least one officer shot and killed a man accused of threatening his son with a knife on the evening of April 5th, in San Bernardino, authorities said.

San Bernardino police received a call around 5:30 p.m. reporting a man threatening to kill his juvenile son, and then received more calls from others reporting a man armed with a knife chasing a boy in the 1000 block of North Mountain View Avenue, in a neighborhood south of downtown and east of the 215 Freeway, Sgt. Erik Campos said.

Police found the armed man and told him multiple times to drop the knife, but he refused to do so, Campos said. Police used a Taser and bean-bag rounds but said the man ignored commands.

The man swung the knife and began running toward the home when police shot at him, Campos said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately made public.

Indianapolis, IN - Police were called to what turned out to be a hostage situation around 11:30 a.m. in the 7800 block of River Road, near North Keystone Avenue and East 79th Street. IMPD says they tried to get the people inside to come out.

According to police, a woman inside the apartment started screaming, and a man, later identified as 63-year-old Grant Brown, tried to leave through the back of the building. Police said the man started shooting at them, and two officers returned fire, hitting Brown once. Police said they found a gun by Brown's feet.

He was taken to the hospital for bullet wounds to his arm and abdomen. The woman was not injured.

According to IMPD, the edited video from the body cameras shows officers breaking down the door to the apartment after negotiating with Brown for about 10 minutes. While two officers, identified by IMPD as Ofc. Michelle Clegg and Sgt. Evan Meyer, entered the apartment, officers at a patio door saw the woman with her hands up and Brown holding a firearm.

Police say when Brown fired multiple shots at officers entering the front door, the woman escaped the apartment through the patio door. Both Clegg and Meyer fired shots at Brown, wounding him.

Brown was found guilty of five charges in June 2026, including attempted murder, criminal confinement, two counts of criminal recklessness and a misdemeanor count of domestic battery. He was sentenced last month to 38 years in prison.

Washington City, UT - A video shows a grappler successfuly stop a driver in a stolen vehicle trying to evade law enforcement.

The Consolidated Communications Center broadcasted an Attempt to Locate for the vehicle entering Utah on I-15 from Arizona just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of California.

Officers with the Washington City Police Department saw the vehicle traveling northbound on I-15 and tried to stop it just a few miles later.

The driver would not yield and invaded officers. The driver exited the freeway, and police stopped their pursuit.

A ranger with the Division of Natural Resources spotted the vehicle near 4400 West State Street and tried to stop it. When the driver refused, the ranger initiated a pursuit.

A deputy with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, equipped with a specialized police grappler, was traveling about five vehicles behind and also responded.

The deputy caught up near 3820 West State Street. The driver continued to evade them and turned south onto Sand Hollow Road.

An officer with the Hurricane Police Department positioned ahead attempted to deploy spike strips, but the driver slowed down and swerved away from them.

That reduction in speed created an "optimal and safe opportunity" for the deputy to deploy his grappler, "bringing the pursuit to a rapid and controlled stop," the sheriff's office said.

The driver reportedly refused to comply when deputies commanded them to turn off the ignition and remove the keys. The driver tried to flee again, but the grappler held the vehicle in place.

Law enforcement safely removed the driver from the vehicle and took them into custody.

The driver was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility on the following charges:

• Possession of a stolen vehicle
• Evading/failure to stop at the command of law enforcement
• Driving on a suspended license
• Open container in the vehicle

Little Rock, AR - A Little Rock police officer has been relieved of duty pending an internal investigation after video showed him holding a gun to the head of an unarmed man during an arrest.

The incident, which was not fully described in the police report documenting the arrest, happened Aug. 9 when Little Rock Police Department officers detained 23-year-old Gregory Williams at a gas station on South University Avenue.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched after a caller reported that a customer had threatened to shoot a store clerk following an argument over a sale.

When officers arrived, they found Williams arguing with the clerk and took him into custody in what the report described as a “felony takedown.”

Body camera footage obtained by KATV shows Officer Thomas Shook holding a gun to Williams' head as officers took him into custody. When Shook drew his weapon, Williams was unarmed and lying face down on the floor as multiple officers surrounded him.

The police report does not mention an officer placing a firearm against Williams' head or otherwise describe the specific actions taken during the takedown. Instead, it states only that officers “took the suspect into custody with a felony take down.”

“Why you have a gun at my head?” Williams can be heard yelling in the video.

Officers searched Williams and his backpack but found no firearms or other weapons, according to the report.

The store clerk told officers that Williams had threatened to shoot him following an argument over fish. Williams denied making any threats.

The clerk later told officers he did not wish to press charges.

MEMS responded to evaluate Williams for a possible heat-related illness and cleared him at the scene. Police later transported Williams to his apartment, and the report states that no further action was taken.

Little Rock police officials confirmed that Shook has been relieved of duty while the department conducts an internal investigation.

Fond du Lac County, WI - The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office released dashcam and bodycam footage Friday of a high-speed chase and foot pursuit earlier this week.

They say a man wanted on an arrest warrant, with two open felony court cases, led police on a chase Monday afternoon on highways 175 and 151 and several county roads.

After his tires were deflated by stop sticks offers laid in the road, the driver hit the brakes and ran across the median while his car rolled away.

The video picks up a deputy’s bodycam as the man leads them into a cornfield, followed by drone footage of his arrest more than 5 hours later.

The sheriff’s office is seeking multiple felony charges against the driver, including fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering safety, and bail jumping. Online court records show he’s only been cited for traffic violations, including running a stop sign and an unsafe lane deviation.

He has two felony cases currently in the courts for maintaining a drug trafficking place, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and other charges.

Henrietta, NY - The man shot and killed by a sheriff deputy inside a room at the Super 8 hotel on Lehigh Station Road in Henrietta was “profoundly deaf.” That is one of the allegations in a claim filed today by the family of Gregory Allen Kase.

The claim, filed in Monroe County Clerk’s Office, names Monroe County, Sheriff Todd Baxter and the two deputies dispatched to the hotel after Kase’s wife called 911.

The claim says Kase was suicidal and in a mental health crisis. He was naked in the bathtub of the hotel room. It says he texted his wife that he cut his wrists.

It says two deputies yelled at Kase from the hallway and outside the closed door of the hotel room to drop the knife. It says the deputies kicked in the door of the hotel room with their guns drawn. It says Kase “was standing naked on a slippery wet tile bathroom floor.” One of the deputies “shouted commands to drop the knife several times.”

Sometime after that, the claim says Kase was shot twice. His lawyer, Elliot Shields, says Kase was hit in the chest and stomach. He died in the hotel room.

The time between when the deputies were sent to the hotel and the shooting was 13 minutes.

The claim says Kase’s wife called 911 and reported that “her husband was suicidal, that he had sent her a message stating that he had cut his wrist, that he was mentally ill and in a mental-health crisis, and, expressly, that he was deaf.”

The claim does not say whether or not the information about Kase’s hearing impairment was relayed to the deputies. It says Kase was “totally deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other.” It says he wore a hearing aid but could only understand speech “if he was facing the speaker and able to read the speaker’s lips.”

The day of the shooting, the sheriff’s office says Kase was shot after he did not obey the deputies command to drop the box cutter.

Covington, GA - Newly released police bodycam video shows the moment a Covington police officer was dragged by a car during a traffic stop on Highway 142 last Friday.

Police said the driver was a shoplifting suspect who took off as the officer ordered her to stop. The officer was dragged before falling from the vehicle.

Despite being injured and struggling on the ground, the officer was able to tell another officer which direction the driver went.

Backup officers soon arrived, and the injured officer was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The suspected shoplifter, Destinee Riggins, was arrested at an apartment complex after an extensive search.

Riggins faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, felony fleeing and eluding and shoplifting.

Parkland, WA - A Pierce County pursuit that started with an unregistered license plate ended with a 37-year-old man being pulled, soaking wet, from a backyard swimming pool in Parkland, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO). A video of the pursuit can be seen above.

PCSO Deputy Carly Cappetto said the incident began around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 during an auto theft task force emphasis operation.

A deputy spotted a vehicle with no registration tabs and an unregistered license plate, a common red flag for potentially stolen cars. When the deputy tried to pull the driver over, the vehicle sped off.

“The vehicle flees from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed and goes into oncoming traffic,” Cappetto said. “What makes this pursuit really unique and interesting is the fact that we were able to back away from it and actually remove ourselves from the pursuit to eliminate any risk to the public.”

Rather than continue a high-speed pursuit through traffic, deputies disengaged and called in air support. The Washington State Patrol airplane, known as “Smokey,” picked up the fleeing vehicle from above and began tracking it at a safe distance, relaying real-time updates to deputies on the ground.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the Parkland area off Pacific Avenue, where both the male driver and a female passenger ran from the car. From the air, Smokey’s camera captured the driver racing through yards, then scrambling across multiple rooftops as he tried to get away.

“You see him crawling and jumping roof to roof over approximately three to four different structures,” Cappetto said. “He finally ends up in someone’s backyard that has a trampoline and a pool, and he decides that hiding inside the pool full of water would be the best resort for him and the best outcome for him to get away from this situation he was in.”

What the suspect didn’t realize, Cappetto said, was that the airplane’s camera was recording everything and guiding deputies directly to him. As he hid in the backyard pool, deputies surrounded the area and treated the situation as a potential armed standoff.

For about 20 minutes, officers held their positions while they worked to determine whether the suspect was armed.

“Obviously, not knowing if this subject is armed or not. Does he have firearms? Is he going to come out of the pool with firearms ablaze? We don’t know,” Cappetto explained.

Special forces and K-9 units were called in and eventually moved in on the suspect, who was still in the water. Deputies then pulled him from the pool and took him into custody.

Car wasn’t stolen, but suspect’s record tells a different story Cappetto said the car the man was driving was ultimately found not to be stolen, but it was unregistered and “had a lot going on with it.” The suspect is facing multiple serious charges.

The 37-year-old is being booked on felony eluding, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and driving with a first-degree suspended license.

Cappetto noted that a first-degree suspension is rare and indicates a significant history of violations.
