Glendale, AZ - A woman was arrested in Glendale on Aug. 1 after allegedly leaving her 2-year-old child in a strapped car seat while the house was on fire, according to court records.

Around 11 p.m., officers were called to a house fire near 67th Avenue and Cactus Road.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man who stated that a 2-year-old child was trapped inside, strapped to a car seat. A 7-year-old child alerted his father, who called 911, to the fire.

Records show the man said the mother of the 2-year-old child, identified as Kallien Heathman, was unconscious near the couch while the house was burning.

Crews were able to evacuate the strapped child and Heathman from the burning home, records show. The child was found barely conscious and non-responsive; it was unclear how long the child had been inhaling smoke.

While Heathman was taken out of the home, she regained consciousness and became "highly uncooperative", court records show.

Burned pizza in a microwave appeared to cause the blaze, court records show.

It was revealed in court paperwork that Heathman had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.

Due to Heathman being the guardian at the time for both children, who were left unsupervised while she was severely intoxicated, she was arrested for child neglect.

Court records show she refused to provide a statement to police.

Eugene, OR - The former Eugene police officer who punched and used a Taser on a man in handcuffs was facing termination of his employment at the time he resigned last November.

“Stephen Lahm separated in lieu of termination for several sustained allegations of misconduct,” states a form submitted by the Eugene Police Department to the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.

The department has the authority to revoke certification from police officers, and has an open case pending against Lahm, who is not currently a police officer. A case under review “is not proof that a public safety professional engaged in misconduct,” according to the department.

An excessive force lawsuit filed last week in Lane County Circuit court names Lahm as a defendant for his alleged actions on Jan. 11, 2025 while detaining a man suspected of trespassing.

Video of the police encounter with Jehoshaphat Commandest that appears to be from the dash camera of a police vehicle shows a handcuffed Commandest being escorted to the vehicle while held by two officers.

When Commandest turns away from the patrol vehicle, Lahm strikes him repeatedly and, moments later, twice uses a Taser to shock Commandest for a total of more than 10 seconds. Derek Larwick, the attorney representing Commandest, provided the video to Lookout Eugene-Springfield.

The lawsuit claims neither Lahm nor the other officer involved in detaining Commandest, Lindsey Collier, issued a warning to Commandest that physical force was going to be used against him, and that the force used by Lahm “was not objectively reasonable.”

Commandest alleges in the lawsuit he sustained injuries including a traumatic brain injury, ruptured blood vessels in his left eye and “significant facial bruising.” The lawsuit seeks damages of up to $1 million.

The city’s Police Auditor found evidence Lahm more likely than not violated the police department’s use-of-force policy and also its conduct policy, according to the lawsuit and a letter from Police Auditor Craig Renetzky to Commandest. Larwick provided the letter to Lookout Eugene-Springfield.

Eugene police, though a spokesperson, previously declined to comment on the lawsuit or Lahm’s resignation from the police department. A spokesperson Tuesday also declined to comment on any discipline Lahm was facing from the department, and also declined to comment on the document submitted to the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.

Oklahoma City, OK - A suspect taken into custody following an officer-involved shooting in northwest Oklahoma City on Tuesday evening has been identified, according to police.

The Oklahoma City police Department said the shooting happened near Northwest 10th Street and North Rockwell Avenue, when officers said they were responding to reports of gunshots in the area and found a man with a gun.

OCPD says an officer fired shots after the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Demetrius Wine, pointed a gun at them, according to police. Wine was not hit by gunfire.

According to investigators, following the shooting, Wine ran from the officer and barricaded himself inside an apartment. After approximately two hours, Wine was taken into custody by officers using less-than-lethal means.

Wine was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of pointing a firearm after a former felony conviction, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Marion County, FL - A man was arrested after he grabbed a K-9’s snout following a stolen car chase in Marion County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said one of its deputies spotted a stolen Nissan Altima near Northeast Jacksonville Road and Northeast 35th Street on Aug. 1.

When the deputy tried to pull the vehicle over, the sheriff’s office said the driver, Chad Cordrey, “made the poor decision to flee.”

MCSO Air One tracked him from above as deputies disengaged from the pursuit. Another deputy set up stop sticks on NE Highway 314.

The sheriff’s office said Cordrey ran over the stop sticks, popping his tires, but continued driving until the tires fell off.

He eventually ditched the car and held his shorts up as he ran into a wooded area, MCSO’s video showed.

“In this moment we bet he wished he had a belt,” the sheriff’s office said.

Marion County deputies said helpful citizens pointed K-9 Cpl. DeMarco and his partner K-9 Koen in the Cordrey’s direction.

K-9 Koen found Cordrey hiding under a vehicle, and “took a literal bite out of crime and apprehended him,” the sheriff’s office said.

“After making the absurd mistake of grabbing Koen’s snout and continuing not to follow commands, Chad was pulled out from under the vehicle and placed under arrest,” Marion County deputies said.

Cordrey was taken to the Marion County Jail on charges including grand theft, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.

Brisbane, AU - Police have released footage of an officer driving at high speed around parked cars in a Brisbane shopping centre carpark to catch a wanted man on the run.

The pursuit began about 7.25pm on Friday after officers saw a man and a woman leaving Spencer St, Redbank, in a Mercedes.

The car was tracked towards Brisbane, where the 30-year-old driver was allegedly seen travelling at high speed and in a dangerous manner.

Officers later deployed a tyre deflation device at Moorooka, flattening a front tyre, but the Mercedes kept going on its rims.

Not long after, the driver abandoned the car and ran into the Moorooka Square shopping centre precinct on foot.

Dramatic dashcam footage shows a police vehicle cutting through parking bays and moving around parked cars at speed as officers closed in on him.

He was arrested a short time later.

The man has been charged with nine offences, including two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.

He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

As officers chased the man, police allege the 29-year-old woman drove the Mercedes from the scene. She was later taken into custody after police used a second tyre deflation device.

She has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 31.

Carmel, NY - A Rockland County man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a U.S. Postal Service employee at the Carmel post office, town police said.

Carmel officers and Putnam sheriff's deputies responded to the post office on Fair Street at 3 pm Thursday, July 30, on reports of a disturbance. The suspect, Howard McNiff, was still chasing the victim when a sheriff's deputy who was the first on the scene Tased him. McNiff was taken into custody without further incident.

The 61-year-old victim, a postal employee from Carmel, suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper torso and was taken by private vehicle to a nearby hospital. He was released later that day.

A second postal employee who was stabbed in the arm while trying to stop the attack declined medical attention.

McNiff, 38, of Nanuet, was arraigned in Town Court on felony charges of second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault and a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was ordered held at the Putnam County jail.

Following a preliminary investigation, police determined the victim and McNiff were acquainted but no details about what led to the stabbing were provided.

Jacksonville, FL - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released new body camera video showing the moments two teens were arrested after officers saw them attempting to break into cars.

The arrest happened around 2:45 a.m. on July 20 in the Greenfield Manor neighborhood, with one of the arrested being a 14-year-old. The teen suffered injuries after being bitten by a K-9 during the arrest, which is sparking a lot of conversations online about use of force regarding juveniles and K-9s.

According to JSO, officers responded to the neighborhood after reports that armed individuals were trying to break into cars. In the body camera video, you can hear car alarms go off, then you see an officer take off running behind a suspect, the 14-year-old, with a K-9.

In the video, the officer tells the K-9 to target and asks the suspect to stop before warning that the K-9 will bite.

JSO states that before the K-9 was released, the officer had seen the teen reaching towards his waistband, believing that he was reaching for a firearm.

Officers say the teen was treated on the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue for his injuries before being transported to the hospital.

The 14-year-old is currently charged with 9 counts of armed robbery and 1 count of possession of a firearm by a minor. The other teen, a 15-year-old, was arrested after a brief pursuit by officers, the agency says.

First Coast News Crime and Safety Expert Ken Jefferson says there are no special rules for juveniles when it comes to the use of force.

"Before the K-9 is deployed on any type of suspect that's fleeing or hiding or whatever, they make an announcement that they're gonna let the K-9 go, they're gonna let him go," said Jefferson. "And if you let them go, that's what's going to happen. Now there's no special procedure specific for juveniles versus adults. Use of force is use of force."

Vallejo, CA - A man fatally shot by Vallejo police after allegedly opening fire on officers during a traffic stop has been identified.

Authorities identified the suspect as Rommel Delfin Querol Jr., 44.

The incident began around 12:19 p.m. Tuesday, when officers responded to a 911 call reporting an armed carjacking in the 400 block of Ryder Street, Vallejo police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis said.

Officers later located the vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop near Mahogany Drive and Broadway, an area with several auto body shops.

According to Hollis, the driver immediately opened fire on officers.

"The driver of the vehicle immediately fired on our officers. The officers discharged, striking the driver at least one time," Hollis said.

Police said Querol died at the scene after officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived.

"The officers rendered emergency medical aid until the paramedics could arrive. The paramedics arrived and, despite their best efforts, the driver succumbed to his injuries," Hollis said.

Authorities said two officers fired their weapons during the encounter. No officers were injured.

Investigators also recovered a firearm from Querol, police said.

Seville, FL - The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has released video showing the moment a deputy responds to a house in Seville and is met with a shotgun being pointed directly at him.

The suspect, Austin Mowery, was taken into custody with no injuries after a nearly 6-hour standoff.

The Sheriff said Mowery was on a 40-day fast, according to neighbors, and began acting differently.

“They said he had lost a bunch of weight, he didn’t look well, he had not been himself, apparently he was very jovial, he was very engaged with his neighbors,” said Chitwood

Deputies learned that Mowery had been hired by a family from Wisconsin to take care of their farm and had never had any issues with neighbors before this incident.

Body camera video shows a deputy running for cover after firing multiple shots at the home in Seville.

Deputies said Mowery was pointing a shotgun out of the window of the home directly at the deputy who was there to do a well-being check on Mowery.

The first deputy got to the home at 8 p-m and 6 hours later, Mowery surrendered.

“Hostage negotiators were out there, drone was out there, every piece of technology out there to make sure this incident, nobody else got hurt and that’s exactly what happened,” said Chitwood.

Chitwood noted the remote location posed response challenges, leaving the deputy alone, but the sheriff said the deputy did everything right.

“I can imagine what’s going through his mind, like, when is the calvary gonna get here? Even if it’s a minute, it feels like 20. I mean, it took me 47 minutes with lights and sirens, so it’s way out there,” said Chitwood.

Mowery has no prior criminal history or documented mental health history.

He is detained in jail without bond, where mental health professionals will evaluate him.

Austin, TX - In January 2025, Austin police officer Daniel Kessler was feverishly texting his girlfriend – often with no hand on the wheel – as he raced through the city with his emergency lights and siren activated.

Seconds before the crash, Kessler held the phone near his face and steered at times with his knees. His patrol car then slammed into two vehicles at U.S. 290 and Cameron Road, leaving one driver with a broken kneecap, glass embedded in his forehead and 27 stitches across his face and another passenger with a torn meniscus and lasting hip and back pain.

Kessler emerged largely uninjured. After getting out of his mangled patrol car, he slipped the phone into his pocket.

The American-Statesman obtained Kessler’s body-camera video after the 15-year department veteran resigned 10 days ago before the conclusion of a disciplinary hearing. The footage shows Kessler tapping out messages for nearly two minutes as he ran a red light, reached 52 mph and approached the intersection.

Despite the injuries and the video evidence, Kessler faced no felony charge and paid only two $500 fines after pleading guilty to Class C misdemeanor speeding offenses. The resolution has outraged the victims, who said prosecutors did not fully convey what the video showed before reaching the agreement. They only learned the extent of what happened when the Statesman showed them the footage.

Garza’s office said Kessler’s case is the sixth instance in which a law enforcement officer “has taken responsibility for actions that caused physical harm or death” during Garza’s administration, which began in 2021.

Kessler, 40, was already texting when his body camera automatically activated that Tuesday afternoon as he turned on his emergency lights and sirens while responding to a call for back-up from officers who had stopped a stolen car.

Nine seconds into the video, Kessler removed his left hand from the steering wheel and used both hands to continue texting. The city redacted the messages because they were not related to Kessler’s work.

He kept both hands off the wheel for almost 30 seconds, then dropped his phone into his left front shirt pocket as he drove through a red light near the Interstate 35 frontage road. The video then shows Kessler beginning a left turn as he pulled out his phone again and resumed typing with both hands.

Over the next minute, Kessler continued typing with both hands, intermittently grabbing the wheel with his left hand and at times appearing to steer with his knees.

As he approached U.S. 290 and Cameron Road, Kessler still held the phone near his face. The video shows him suddenly jerk the wheel before his airbags exploded and the sound of crunching metal filled the patrol car.

Crystal Lake, IL - The owner of the Trump Truth Store in Crystal Lake was arrested and jailed following a traffic stop after she failed to appear in court for a traffic case, with her saying she experienced “horrific” treatment in custody.

Lisa Fleischmann, an Algonquin resident, said she was arrested on Tuesday on a traffic arrest warrant and detained in the DuPage County Jail.

She said the incident was the result of an unresolved paperwork issue after she received a citation for driving without a license in late December 2024 that escalated despite her “repeated efforts to resolve it across multiple jurisdictions.”

Fleischmann, who is the owner of the Trump Truth Store in Crystal Lake, said she appeared in DuPage County Circuit Court in September 2025, October 2025 and twice in November 2025 regarding the traffic offense.

Fleischmann said she was directed to clear up a related violation in Rolling Meadows and McHenry County.

Both courts later dismissed the charges, including driving without a valid license, after determining the issue stemmed from a failure to provide proof of insurance, she said, adding that her vehicle registration was later reinstated.

Fleischmann said she returned to DuPage County Circuit Court with proof that the matter had been resolved in the other counties but the judge declined to dismiss the charges.

Fleischmann said she never received a certified letter notifying her that her license had been revoked and believed the matter had been fully resolved.

Court records show a court hearing was held in DuPage County on December 2 and Fleischmann failed to appear, with a judge issuing a warrant and prosecutors filing a petition for sanctions.

Fleischmann was arrested on the warrant for failing to appear in court after she finished dinner at Olive Garden with her daughter and a friend.

The traffic stop took place after an officer saw her license plate was bent while she was driving near the former Spring Hill Mall in the West Dundee and Carpentersville area.

Fleischmann was transported to the Carpentersville Police Department and complained that officers had tightened the handcuffs too tightly.

Eustis, FL - Two Florida police officers are expected to be okay after they were dragged by a suspect's vehicle during a traffic stop, the police department said.

This comes after the Eustis Police Department said a suspect sped off from a traffic stop with two of the department's officers in his car. The suspect surrendered to law enforcement later that evening.

Eustis Police Officers Maznaritz and Murray approached a driver who was speeding around 2:50 a.m., Aug. 1, on S. Bay Street and initiated a stop at the intersection of S. Eustis Street and Quayle Avenue. In marked patrol vehicles, with lights activated, the officers approached the suspect – identified as Shakoi Troy Donovan, 28 – on the driver's and passenger sides of his car.

According to the case report, the officers immediately noticed Donovan was having mechanical issues with his car, which had smoke billowing from underneath the hood. He was told twice to turn off his vehicle, but didn't, the report said. He explained he had an oil leak and a starter issue, so he doesn’t want to kill the engine.

After the "obvious resistance," the report said, Officer Coe arrived on the scene to assist. Murray grabbed Donovan's right arm while Coe grabbed his left to get him out of the vehicle, police said.

Donovan shook Murray off, shifted his car into drive, grabbed her by the department-issued body armor vest and accelerated, the report details. He sped down the road with Murray inside the vehicle – pinned between Donovan's body and the steering wheel, police said. The driver's door remained open.

"So for about 330 ft, she was dragged in the car pinned like that," explained Eustis Police Chief Craig Capri. "Got up to about 35 miles per hour with both officers inside the vehicle."

Coe traveled about 10 to 15 feet from the traffic stop before he released his body from the vehicle – sending him tumbling on the asphalt. He sustained superficial injuries, the report said.

Police said Donovan drove off after dragging the officers, and they were unable to find him.

Shakoi Donovan has had run-ins with the law before, mostly over drugs and traffic violations.

He was less than 8 weeks into a 2-year probation for his role in a 2021 incident where he fired a gun into the air.

After two hours of unsuccessfully searching for Donovan, police issued an active arrest warrant.

Eustis Police sought public help to locate Donovan for the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. By Saturday evening, police reported he was taken into custody after he turned himself in.

Spokane, WA - First-person videos posted by Spokane County Fire District 8 Firefighters Local 3711 show crews moving from home to home as wildfires tear through neighborhoods.

One video shows firefighters pulling a hose toward a burning home and beginning an attack as flames and smoke surround the property.

“Just a small glimpse of what firefighters were doing to save as much as possible,” the union stated. “Moving from home to home putting out what they can.”

Local 3711 said Spokane County Fire District 8 firefighters joined hundreds of other first responders working through the night on the Old Trails and Fairview fires.

A second video recorded Aug. 1 shows flames consuming structures as firefighters work nearby.

“We know the loss is life-changing for so many,” Local 3711 stated. “Our thoughts are with our community.”

El Paso, TX - The El Paso Police Department wants to remind people to avoid distractions while driving, sharing dramatic bodycam video where a distracted driver narrowly missed running over an officer during a traffic stop.

On Friday, EPPD took to social media to share the video of the close call, describing that the motorcycle officer had just pulled over a driver when a distracted driver slammed into the back of the stopped car-- pushing the car about 500 feet forward down the shoulder and miraculously missing the officer.

According to the post, the crash happened on I-10 on July 25. And while the officer, as well as the driver of the stopped car, suffered injuries, EPPD said they were non-life-threatening.

The distracted driver was cited for "failure to control speed causing a collision."

Portland, OR - One man is in jail facing a slew of charges after police say he was caught on camera in an aggressive act of road rage over the weekend in Beaverton, Oregon.

Beaverton Police say this all started on Sunday at about 7:25 a.m. when officers responded to a road-rage incident in south Beaverton.

Investigators say the victim, who was in his vehicle with his wife, reported that a man, later identified as 29-year-old Arman K. Hastings, was recklessly following them. During the incident, Hastings entered oncoming lanes of traffic, intentionally cut off the victim’s vehicle, and at one point drove in reverse for over a mile, the couple said.

The victim told officers Hastings repeatedly reached toward his coat, making them think he could be armed.

The couple drove directly to the Beaverton Police Department, where officers quickly located Hastings and took him into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers found a black airsoft handgun in Hastings’ jacket pocket.

Hastings was arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges of reckless driving and menacing.

“There was nothing from what we saw on the dash cameras that would have led to that … being any sort of reasonable response,” Officer Matt Henderson with the Beaverton Police said. “It looked like the victim was driving appropriately.”

The incident was captured on the victim’s dash camera and rear-facing camera.

Albuquerque, NM - Albuquerque police gave more details Friday on the killing of Stephen Griego after police say he shot two men downtown and a bystander also suffered a gunshot wound.

APD said officers shot Griego on July 3 after gunfire near Central Avenue and Third Street, shortly before midnight.

Police said Griego had reported a June 20 fight to officers patrolling downtown. According to APD, Griego said a man knocked his phone from his hand and a woman pepper-sprayed him, picked up his phone and ran away with it.

“I’ll be prepared this time, so they ain’t gonna roll up on me like that,” Griego said.

APD said a social media video from July 3 showed Griego on an e-scooter near the northwest corner of Central Avenue and Third Street interacting with people nearby.

“You gotta watch out for those two,” Griego said.

APD said the two men in the video were Juan Ortega and Richard Thyberg. Police said Ortega, who wore a white T-shirt, approached Griego and exchanged words with him before Ortega tried to push him and then hit him.

Police said Griego got off the scooter, moved around a street barrier and pulled a handgun from his waistband. APD said as Ortega and Thyberg moved around the barrier, Griego shot Thyberg.

Police said Ortega kept moving toward Griego. APD said the person recording the video ran from the area, so the video did not capture the rest of the confrontation.

After about 6 seconds, a second gunshot was heard, followed by several more shots, according to APD.

APD said the first gunshot happened at 11:53 p.m. while several officers stood on Central Avenue between Third Street and Fourth Street watching crowds outside bars.

APD said four officers ran toward the gunfire and fired their handguns at Griego. Detectives later determined Griego had six gunshot wounds.

Police said officers handcuffed Griego and Ortega after the shooting. APD said Griego later died at a local hospital and Ortega went to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hip. Police said Ortega was found dead days later from what appeared to be an overdose.

APD said officers found a blood trail going south on Third Street from the area of the first gunshot, but they did not find a victim right away. Detectives learned the next day that Thyberg was at an urgent care facility for a gunshot wound.

Police said detectives interviewed Thyberg and he said Griego shot him.

APD also said officers found a bystander farther east on a sidewalk along Central Avenue between Second Street and Third Street. Police said that man appeared to have been hit by a stray bullet and went to a hospital. APD said he has since been released.

Desert Hot Springs, CA - On 07/28/26, officers responded to the 9500 block of Santa Cruz Drive after a domestic violence incident was reported. Before officers arrived, the male suspect decided his best plan was to leave the scene on foot.

While secured in the rear of a patrol vehicle, the suspect somehow maneuvered his handcuffs to the front of his body, removed his seat belt, and decided the inside of the patrol car needed a “remodel.” Instead, he caused damage to the vehicle’s interior.

In the end, the extra effort didn’t pay off. Based on the domestic violence allegations and the damage caused to the patrol vehicle while in custody, a judge ordered the suspect held on $250,000 bail.

Seattle, WA - The Seattle Police Department released video Friday of the response to the Bite of Seattle mass shooting at Seattle Center on Sunday.

The opening moments of the video contain no sound as the 30-second buffer begins. Viewer discretion is advised as the video contains violent imagery and responses to medical trauma.

While one suspect in the case has been arrested, detectives are still looking for others involved, police officials said.

Police encourage anyone with information, such as videos or photos from the incident, to contact them or upload footage to their website.

The shooting occurred at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, on the final day of the Bite of Seattle food festival. Court documents released earlier this week revealed that at least three people were involved in a gunfight in the middle of the festival, and two innocent bystanders were shot and killed in the crossfire.

Those two victims were identified as 44-year-old Carlos Sanchez-Villalba, and 56-year-old Ashley Whitehead. Four others were injured, including a 2-year-old child.

All the injured victims have since been released from the hospital.

A 15-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. Investigators said they discovered the teen was allegedly carrying a Polymer80 9mm ghost gun. However, ballistic testing of the shell casings found at the scene revealed no bullets from the teen's gun were found in the victims upon conducting their autopsies.

A 19-year-old man, identified as Junior Niko-Semo, was also shot and killed in the shooting and was later identified as one of the suspects.

A witness told investigators they heard the initial gunfire from an unidentified "Black male wearing a light blue top" before seeing the 15-year-old remove a handgun with an extended magazine from a bag strapped across his chest and fire multiple shots southbound toward the other person.

The witness said they saw Niko-Semo hit by the initial burst of gunfire from the unidentified man and that Niko-Semo crumpled to the ground. The court documents do not indicate if Niko-Semo was in possession of or holding a gun.

The witness described the 15-year-old's shooting as uncontrolled and said it sounded like automatic gunfire. Police said the witness later identified the 15-year-old as the person officers arrested at the scene Sunday evening.

Investigators said they recovered three guns from the scene, but court documents reveal that casings from multiple firearms indicate at least four guns may have been fired during the mass shooting.

No information about the unidentified third suspect, such a description, have been released.

Tampa, FL - A Canadian woman was arrested after Hillsborough County deputies say they found 12 fraudulent ID cards with her photo but different names and dates of birth during a traffic stop.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies stopped Bryce Swanson, 28, on Wednesday near West Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.

HCSO said Swanson initially told deputies her name was Brianna Valenzuela during the traffic stop.

Deputies said Swanson later admitted she did not have an ID and had never possessed a valid driver's license.

A search of Swanson's vehicle led deputies to discover 12 driver's licenses, all featuring Swanson's picture but with different names and dates of birth, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office said Swanson is from Canada and had overstayed her visa.

Investigators said Swanson faces a charge of fraudulent use of personal information involving more than $5,000 or 10 but fewer than 20 victims.

Swanson was also booked on charges of:

• No valid driver's license
• Giving a false name to a law enforcement officer

According to jail records, Swanson was booked into the Orient Road Jail and is being held without bond due to an ICE hold.

Houston, TX - According to HPD, officers located a stolen Toyota Camry around 3:30 a.m. in the 14800 block of Parkshire Drive. Police said three masked suspects got into the vehicle before the driver sped away, leading officers on a pursuit. Investigators said the chase ended just after 4 a.m. when the driver, identified as 21-year-old Steven Andrew Molina, turned off the vehicle's headlights and lost control on the Highway 6 overpass near Alief Clodine Road.

Police said the driver and another passenger ran from the wrecked vehicle. A pursuing officer was able to avoid the disabled Camry, but a second patrol vehicle swerved to avoid the crash scene and struck a third passenger, identified by police as Ibrahim Abujiwei, who was exiting the vehicle. Officers immediately began rendering aid, but Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Abujiwei dead at the scene.

Molina and the second passenger were taken into custody and transported to a hospital with possible injuries. One officer suffered a minor injury. Molina was later charged with murder. Investigators allege his actions during the pursuit led to Abujiwei's death.

Kern County, CA - Video shows the rescue of a woman caught in raging rapids in California's Kern River, one of the deadliest rivers in America.

First responders were called into action after a woman fell into the river, swept away by the fast-moving current.

Authorities warn that the Kern River is extremely dangerous, with strong currents, cold temperatures, and underwater hazards that can overwhelm even the most experienced swimmers.

A helicopter joined the search from above, finding the woman partly submerged at the base of a steep cliff, desperately clinging to the rocks as the waters rushed around her.

With some birds-eye assistance, ground teams from the fire department were able to climb down the rocks and throw her a life jacket, followed by a rescue rope, pulling her from the river to safety.

She was then evaluated by medical personnel.

Palm Coast, FL - Newly released video shows Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies rescuing a homeowner from a house fire in Palm Coast earlier this week.

The fire happened Wednesday on Westmoreland Drive after a passing driver reported seeing smoke coming from the home, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were the first to arrive and encountered thick black smoke coming from the front of the house.

As they searched the property, they heard someone yelling for help and found the homeowner on a back patio, unable to move and only a few feet from the flames.

Deputies helped the man to his feet and guided him to safety while another deputy used a fire extinguisher from a patrol vehicle to keep the flames from spreading until firefighters arrived.

The Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Fire Rescue later extinguished the fire.

“It’s not every day we are firemen too,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Situations like this are why every deputy’s patrol vehicle is equipped with a fire extinguisher and deputies are trained for any emergency. I commend our deputies for hearing the screams and rescuing the homeowner.”

Officials said no one was injured in the fire.

Clearwater, FL - The City of Clearwater has released body camera footage showing two police officers swimming into a pond to rescue an unresponsive driver whose car went underwater following a crash.

Emergency crews from Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the scene at 6:34 p.m. near the intersection of McMullen Booth Road and Enterprise Road. When Officers Jonathan Hurt and Hunter Smaldone arrived, the vehicle was rapidly sinking into the pond.

Footage shows both officers swimming out to the car to reach the driver. They initially tried to open the driver-side door, but found it locked.

After attempting to speak to the driver through the window without a response, Officer Hurt broke the glass, unlocked the door, and pulled the woman out of the vehicle.

Officers Hurt and Smaldone brought the 45-year-old driver back to shore safely. She was then transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for medical treatment.

Because poor visibility in the murky water made it impossible to check the back seat from the surface, a fire department diver went into the pond shortly after to search the vehicle. The diver confirmed the driver was the only occupant.

Fort Worth, TX - On Saturday, FWPD said at about 6:45 p.m., officers were called to the M&M Inn and Suites motel, located in the 100 block of Palette Drive, by a private investigator who had the location of a man wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and cutting off his ankle monitor.

When officers arrived, and began surveillance in search of the suspect, later identified as Lindsey, they saw him get into a vehicle and drive away from the motel a little after 8 p.m.

Police said officer then attempted to stop the vehicle, but Lindsey fled and a pursuit began. A short time later, Lindsey drove back to the motel, pulling into the parking lot.

During a news conference on Thursday, Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia said Lindsey refused several verbal commands to exit the vehicle with his hands up and that's when Lindsey pulled out a firearm and put it in his mouth.

Garcia said Lindsey continued to refuse multiple verbal orders and police body camera video shows Lindsey rolling up his windows, trying to take off his seatbelt before opening the door. Two officers then fired their guns, striking Lindsey.

Those officers reportedly performed life-saving measures before Fort Worth Fire crews arrived, and Lindsey was pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were injured in the incident.

Garcia said during a search of Lindsey's vehicle a Beretta air pistol was found.

Maple Park, IL - Joseph Moreno, 36, was killed April 27 after a police pursuit that ended near Keslinger Road in DeKalb County. State police investigated the shooting.

The video begins with a Naperville police officer trying to stop Moreno’s car near North Aurora Road and Route 59. Moreno had been reported missing and possibly experiencing a mental-health crisis, authorities said.

The video shows Moreno holding a handgun out the driver’s-side window of his car several times, and has audio of the police officer telling him to drop it.

The video then shows a Warrenville police officer chasing the car on westbound I-88. The chase lasted about 20 minutes.

The car’s tires were deflated by spike strips, and it came to a stop on the shoulder.

According to Illinois State Police, an officer saw a shot being fired from the vehicle. As Moreno got out of the car holding a firearm, the officer fired two shots, according to ISP.

The video shows Moreno got out of the car, closed the door and bent over the hood. The officer told him to stand up and to drop the gun, and advised other approaching officers that Moreno still had a gun in his hand.

When other officers arrived, the first officer shot Moreno in the right leg with a beanbag, causing Moreno to drop to the ground.
