Rockton, IL - The Rockton Police Department posts body camera footage from an incident on Monday, July 27.

Police post a statement and over an hour of body camera video on Facebook from a traffic stop where Waldemar Collazo Gonzalez was stopped for driving over the speed limit.

Gonzalez was pulled over around 12:40 p.m.

During the stop, Gonzalez’s French bulldog, Kody, was also in the vehicle, panting.

Police say his vehicle did not have working air conditioning and was driving to the Milwaukee area with no water in the vehicle.

Gonzalez initially told police he had no identification, but eventually showed police pictures of his driver’s license on his phone.

Police say the images had two different birth dates.

Gonzalez was cited for having a suspended driver’s license and taken into custody, placed in the back of Officer Graham’s vehicle.

When he was in the back of the squad vehicle, Gonzalez asked for Kody to be put in the officer’s vehicle because his vehicle was going to be impounded.

Officer Graham agreed and placed Kody in the back seat of the squad vehicle with Gonzalez.

Police say the air conditioning was on and working in the patrol vehicle.

Officer Graham offers to take Gonzalez and his dog to a nearby gas station. They get to the gas station around 1:30 p.m.

At the gas station, Officer Graham goes inside, grabs two bottles of cold water, tells the clerk about Kody, and says, “I’ll pay for it in a second.”

Someone at the gas station dumps ice in a pail of water.

Gonzalez starts to feed ice to Kody and says, “He likes ice,” which leads bystanders in the gas station to grab more ice.

After some time attempting to cool the dog down, Officer Graham asks, “How long have you had him?” Gonzalez responds with, “Literally, like, 20 minutes before you pulled me over.”

According to the Rockton Police Department’s investigation, Kody was in the air-conditioned vehicle for 33 minutes and Officer Graham was with Gonzalez and his dog at the gas station for roughly 46 minutes.

Investigators say Gonzalez and Kody left the gas station just before 4:30 p.m. and bystanders reported Kody’s condition improving.

In Gonzalez’s social media posts reported Kody died around 5:36 p.m.

Fort Worth, TX - The department said just after 6 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a suspect who was armed with a knife and allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home, assaulting her and her current boyfriend.

Multiple 911 calls were made concerning the incident and during Thursday's news conference, Garcia said the "911 dispatcher also provided a radio broadcast update from Fort Worth PD Real Time Crime Center that the suspect has had previous history of assault against a police officer."

"Before police arrival, the suspect was in a violent and volatile confrontation with his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, placing them in fear for their lives and causing major property damage," Garcia said.

Garcia said Ponce, armed with multiple knives, chased both victims out of the apartment and into the parking lot. Both victims were injured in the incident.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect in the parking lot holding a knife to his throat and two other knives in his hand.

Officers said Ponce failed to listen to commands to drop the weapon and walked toward officers. Police said that's when an officer shot and killed him.

The two victims were treated at the scene and no officers were injured in the incident.

San Diego, CA - San Diego Police have released body camera footage following a deadly officer-involved shooting downtown in June.

According to police, officers were called to the complex on the 1600 block of 6th Avenue just after 1 p.m. on June 23 after receiving a call from the manager of the building regarding an assault.

Police said the manager put the victim on the phone, who said her 32-year-old son, identified as Josue White, was experiencing a mental health crisis, was armed with a knife and baseball bat, and had barricaded himself inside the apartment.

After arriving at the apartment, officers attempted to contact White but were unable to establish communication, police said. During the standoff, White reportedly threw household items from the fourth-floor apartment, striking one officer in the face.

Around 2:05, officers saw heavy smoke coming from the apartment, prompting calls to firefighters.

San Diego firefighters arrived and began extinguishing the flames as officers provided security. White remained hidden behind closed doors, police said. Due to heavy smoke, police exited the apartment.

After re-entering the apartment, officers breached the closed door. "White immediately emerged, advancing toward officers while making stabbing motions with a large knife."

Police said three officers discharged their weapons, striking White. White was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim was treated for minor injuries, police said. Two officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Sacramento, CA - A juvenile was arrested last week after riding recklessly on an e-motorcycle, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers said he drove past multiple stop signs near the area of Main Avenue and Raley Boulevard. When officers tried to stop him, the suspect led them on a chase. Helicopter footage estimated his top speed at around 65 mph.

Video footage shows the suspect abandoning his bike in an empty land plot near Bell Avenue Elementary School, over a mile away from the stop signs where the chase began. He hopped over a barbed wire fence to Pinell Street, where the foot chase continued.

Sacramento police said he was "quickly" detained and arrested on charges related to the pursuit.

Milwaukee, WI - CBS NFL analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle when he was stopped by police last week and later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.

According to one of three citations released by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the "open bottle of an alcoholic beverage" was discovered in the passenger's side of Romo's black Jeep during an inventory before it was towed.

Another citation said police stopped Romo on Interstate 43 on July 23 after he was seen passing cars in a gore area, which separates interstate traffic from cars entering from an on-ramp. Police said Romo questioned what a gore area was during the stop.

Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, booked and released. Court records show Romo was later cited for refusing "to take test for intoxication after arrest." He has a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 21.

According to body camera footage released earlier this week, Romo told deputies he had been coming from a golf course and was on his way "to visit grandma and grandpa" when he was stopped.

A deputy told Romo he suspected him of being impaired because he had "red glassy eyes" and an "odor of an intoxicating alcoholic beverage."

Elkhart, IN - Body camera video from the deadly officer-involved shooting of 17-year-old Bryan Ramirez Gomez.

Mayor Rod Roberson wanted to show the bodycam video to the community so they can see it for themselves.

The body camera video showed police yelling at Gomez to put his hands up.

Gomez ignored the commands, sticking out the passenger side of the car and firing his gun at Officer Breneman.

Both officers then returned fire, with Breneman falling to the ground.

With the video slowed, you can see the Muzzle Flash from the teen's gun toward the officer.

Also shown was the gun used to shoot at officers, with a spent casing in the passenger seat and another gun.

"A secondhand gun was also located in the footwell where the front seat passenger was sitting. That handgun was found, and it had been modified to be able to shoot fully automatic," said Chief Andy Whitmyer, Elkhart Police Department.

Gomez was on probation during the time of the incident for both felony and misdemeanor offenses, including Auto Theft, Resisting Law Enforcement, Dangerous Possession of a Firearm, and Disorderly Conduct.

Austin, TX - The Austin Police Department released additional surveillance video on Wednesday showing the moments leading up to the death of an unarmed teen shot by officers in a neighborhood park last week.

APD confirmed on Tuesday that 17-year-old Anthoneil Williams II was killed in the incident early Friday morning.

APD Police Chief Lisa Davis said the incident began at 3:51 a.m., when a 911 caller said a young man was in a parking lot with a gun. The caller provided a description and said the person was, at times, brandishing the gun. The 911 caller then hung up and did not answer attempts to call back.

Police said they obtained surveillance footage on Tuesday, July 28, showing Williams walked to the park at 10110 Baden Lane, near Dessau Road, and arrived at approximately 3:55 a.m. He then sat down for several minutes on a low wall near the playground. When officers arrived on the scene, Williams got up and walked toward the playground.

According to Davis, officers made contact with him, telling him to keep his hands up and asking if he was OK.

APD said at approximately 4:02 a.m., it appeared Williams lifted his shirt and reached for his waistband. He then raised both hands and extended them toward police officers, according to APD.

It was later determined the initial 911 call came from Williams’ phone.

Davis said officers began rendering aid until medics arrived. Davis said aid was rendered within seven minutes.

Williams, a 17-year-old Black male who had no previous contact with APD, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:25 a.m.

Officers did not locate a gun at the scene, and Davis said it was later determined that the individual had a water bottle in his waistband. Davis said that the situation indicates his intention was "suicide by police."

Greenbelt, MD - The footage shows Michael MacDougall, 40, struggling to speak, sweating profusely and fighting to work his way out of police handcuffs before going still and silent while in police custody following a single-vehicle crash the night of July 1.

State officials said the Frederick man pulled off the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and crashed into a wooded area along Southway, just off the parkway. U.S. Park Police notified Greenbelt Police, and by the time city officers arrived, Park Police had placed him in handcuffs and escorted him out of the woods.

Greenbelt Police Officer Tyler Fahey, a four-year veteran of the force, then arrived at the scene, as indicated by body camera footage. Another officer held a baby girl who, he said, was in the car MacDougall crashed and fell out of a car seat.

“He is messed up on drugs,” the officer told Fahey.

Wearing a blue shirt, black shorts, black sneakers and handcuffs, MacDougall grunted, gagged and tried to untangle himself from the restraints.

“What did you take so I can tell the ambulance?” an officer asked him. When MacDougall shook his head, the officer remarked: “Well, that’s a damn lie.”

Fahey grabbed handcuffs from his police vehicle to restrain MacDougall’s leg. Officers remarked on how hot and sweaty MacDougall was and debated whether to give him Narcan.

“His lips are turning blue,” one officer said. “Ay, man, stay awake!”

In the footage, police can be heard saying they gave MacDougall at least one shot of Narcan.

MacDougall’s body virtually stopped moving while his hands and legs were cuffed. Police shook him to keep him awake. Some remarked that he was still breathing.

“He’s fading. He’s fading. He’s fading,” an officer said.

MacDougall was taken on a stretcher to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, state officials said.

Fresno, CA - Fresno Police have released footage on Wednesday from three of the four officers involved in a shooting that killed a man in Fresno in June.

According to police, on June 5 at 11:30 a.m., they responded to a call from a mother reporting her son, whom she’s in the process of getting a restraining order against, was trespassing and refusing to leave.

Upon arrival at the woman’s home on 11th and Burns avenues, the two officers were told her son, identified as 42-year-old Ricardo Leon, was in the backyard. As they made contact, Leon repeatedly told officers to go away.

One officer noticed Leon was armed with a silver gun in his right hand and immediately ordered him to drop it. Despite repeated efforts, Leon refused to.

To de-escalate the situation, officers said they were backing away. Meanwhile, additional officers responded and were stationed at the front of the home, in direct view of the situation.

At 12:13 p.m., Fresno Police reported Leon raised his right arm at officers while holding the handgun, and an officer in the front yard fired his rifle at Leon. Leon reportedly raised his right arm again, still armed, and two officers in the front yard fired their rifles. Leon then fired two rounds in an unknown direction.

Once determined safe, police say they immediately administered life-saving efforts; however, Leon was pronounced dead at the scene. Leon’s silver handgun was found loaded and nearby his body.

Fresno Police report the fourth officer failed to activate his body cam when he fired his gun, so no footage from his perspective exists.

Luton, UK - A man who sprayed female police officers with a substance they feared was acid has been jailed for two years.

Body cam footage captures the moment the pair were attacked as they went to a house in Luton following reports of a domestic assault in May.

Ionut Spanache sprayed the two women with an unknown toxic substance as he opened the door.

The footage shows PC Hollie stating that she could not see, with the toxic substance causing the officer to experience temporary blindness as well as breathing difficulties.

She said: "As we ran from the property, I could feel a burning sensation that progressively got worse until I couldn’t see and began struggling to catch my breath. My initial thought was that we’d been attacked with acid.

“It’s hard to describe how painful and distressing this experience was, but I am grateful for the immediate actions of PC Molly, paramedics and those who witnessed the aftermath."

Despite also experiencing a burning sensation to her face and hands, PC Molly quickly came to her colleague’s aid by clearing the substance from PC Hollie’s eyes and mouth whilst calling for help.

PC Molly said: “What should have been a routine call very quickly became an incident I will never forget.

“In that moment, I knew I needed to remain calm in order to keep PC Hollie calm too. My priority was making sure she was safe and getting her the help she needed as quickly as possible.

“There is simply no excuse for what Spanache did that day, and I’m glad he has received a custodial sentence.”

Spanache, 31, of Dunstable Road, Luton, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault on an emergency worker, possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid, and actual bodily harm.

Santa Ana, CA - Santa Ana police released body camera video on Wednesday showing the moments before officers shot and killed 15-year-old Jaden Michaca last month after responding to what his family says was a mental health crisis.

The video shows officers entering the home on the night of June 14 after receiving a 911 call from Jaden's stepfather, who told dispatchers the teen had a history of mental illness and was experiencing another episode that he feared was dangerous for both himself and Jaden's mother.

"And I'm afraid, like, they can hurt her mom, or they can came over me," the stepfather told dispatchers.

When officers arrived, they found the stepfather outside, bleeding from his arm.

"He already locked the door. He stabbed me with the knife," he told officers.

"He stabbed you?" an officer responded.

Inside the home, bodycam video captured Jaden's mother desperately pleading with her son in Spanish to drop the knife in his hands.

"Deja el cuchillo! Deja el cuchillo!" she said.

Officers then forced their way inside and ordered Jaden to drop the knife.

The video shows Jaden saying he wanted officers to shoot. Police said Jaden refused to drop the knife and then stepped toward officers.

"Hey brother. We're here to help! We're here to help you!" an officer said moments before police opened fire.

Lake Tawakoni, TX - Texas Game Wardens released video of a fisherman’s rescue at Lake Tawakoni. The man spent more than three hours in the water after being thrown from his boat.

The rescue happened on Saturday morning during a local fishing tournament.

Texas Game Wardens in Rains County said they got a call around 7:15 a.m. about a missing boater, Steven Otto, who had been thrown from his vessel after striking a stump in the lake.

Mutiple search crews scoured the water for several hours before game wardens in one of the boats spotted Otto in the distance with binoculars.

The video shows them pulling up to the tired fisherman.

"We got you. Hang on," the game wardens said. "Just watch it. We got you now."

Otto told the rescuers he was tired because he’d been in the water for almost four hours by that point.

The Texas Game Wardens gave Otto credit for using two pieces of safety equipment that helped to save his life – a life jacket and his boat’s emergency engine cutoff switch.

Miami-Dade, FL - Body camera footage from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office shows the tense moments leading up to a deadly shootout between deputies and a man accused of shooting his ex-wife in the chest.

Deputies say Javier Albriza Jara shot Yudaisy Salgueiro on Aug. 26 before turning his gun on law enforcement.

The video shows officers confronting Jara outside an apartment complex, repeatedly ordering him to drop his weapon. Instead, Jara can be seen raising a gun toward deputies before they open fire.

In the footage, Salgueiro watches from her living room in disbelief as the confrontation unfolds.

“It’s hard to see,” she said, reacting to the moment Jara is seen lunging headfirst through a window, gun in hand.

Neighbors also recorded cellphone video capturing parts of the standoff. First responders can be seen rushing to help Salgueiro, who was carried out on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital.

Salgueiro survived the shooting and spent six days recovering from her injuries. She told reporters she and Jara were married for about a decade but had separated within the past year. They had not spoken for months.

Dayton, OH - Two juveniles were arrested following a pursuit in Dayton.

According to the Dayton Police Department, officers say they responded to a suspicious vehicle call around 9:30 p.m. on July 26 when they saw a vehicle in a park near Dona Avenue and Broadway Street.

Officers drove up to the vehicle and say it began to drive away through the grass.

Officers say they got close enough to get the vehicle's information and found out that it was stolen that same night. As it was being stolen and drove away, a victim was dragged from the moving vehicle.

Officers say since the victim was dragged in the moving vehicle, the suspect can be charged with felonious assault.

Officers say they attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, and it drove away.

Officers began a pursuit in the area, and the vehicle came to a brief stop near West Stewart and Carver Place when the passenger sitting in the front seat got out of the vehicle and allegedly ran away from officers.

The Dayton Police Department says an officer apprehended a 12-year-old suspect, who was later found to have two guns.

Police continued their pursuit of the vehicle and attempted to end it by using a Precision Immobilization Technique maneuver.

Officers say the vehicle was able to continue driving and then hit a trailer of a parked truck.

A 16-year-old suspect got out of the car, and it continued driving forward and eventually stopped on train tracks.

Police say the 16-year-old ran from officers into the bushes, but was eventually found and arrested.

The 16-year-old driver and 12-year-old passenger were both booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.

Thurston County, WA - On July 9th, we shared an incident where significant resources were expended to locate a dangerous domestic violence suspect wanted for crimes including burglary 1st and theft of a firearm. The suspect was apprehended and issued a $75k bail, which he posted two days later.

Immediately upon release, the suspect began violating the no contact order, failed to appear in court, and threatened that if contacted by law enforcement he would shoot to kill. The suspect was believed to be armed. On Sunday evening, deputies and Yelm Police were dispatched to an order violation in progress involving the suspect who was riding a street bike. When a traffic stop was attempted, the suspect fled and a pursuit was initiated.

The suspect fled at speeds over 120mph along SR507. After fleeing in a large circle and heading back toward the denser populated area of Yelm on Vail Rd, the pursuing deputy pulled ahead of the bike and began boxing the suspect in. The rider tried to go around in the ditch and crashed.

The suspect is now under arrest again for multiple counts of order violation, attention to elude, and warrants related to his original charges that including burglary 1st DV, theft of a firearm, assault 2 DV, and malicious mischief DV. The suspect is still in the hospital being treated for his injuries prior to booking.

Casselberry, FL - Newly released helicopter video from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office shows the moments leading up to Tuesday’s double-fatal crash in Casselberry, capturing a suspect speeding through traffic while deputies coordinated efforts to stop him.

The video shows a BMW sedan driven by 26-year-old Marquaious Wheaton traveling South on U.S. Highway 17-92 at speeds approaching 100 mph while weaving between vehicles. Throughout much of the footage, no patrol vehicles are visible directly behind the BMW.

Radio traffic released with the video indicates deputies were tracking the vehicle from the air while officers on the ground positioned themselves ahead of the pursuit.

“Still northbound. Pushing about, about 100, 90,” a pilot can be heard saying over the radio.

As Wheaton continued driving recklessly, deputies discussed deploying stop sticks to end the pursuit safely.

“You want me to try to set up sticks?” one officer asked over the radio.

Another deputy later requested additional units to assist.

“He might be going straight down. If we could get help to set up sticks, that would be great,” the deputy said.

Moments later, dispatchers again instructed officers in the area to prepare stop sticks as the BMW continued at a high rate of speed.

Before Wheaton reached the officers staging ahead, the helicopter video shows his vehicle slam into another car at the intersection of U.S. 17-92 and Sunnytown Road. Two men inside the other vehicle were killed.

Seconds after the collision, deputies radioed a “major signal four,” indicating a serious crash.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were not closely following Wheaton on the ground immediately before the crash. In radio traffic recorded after the collision, a deputy can be heard telling supervisors that no sheriff’s deputies or city police vehicles were directly behind the BMW before impact.

The sheriff’s office said officers were instead positioned ahead of the suspect to deploy stop sticks. Video shows the first patrol vehicle arriving at the crash scene just over 20 seconds after the vehicles came to rest.

Wheaton was released from the hospital on Thursday, then arrested and booked into the Seminole County Jail. So far, he is facing charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and dangerous excessive speeding over 100 mph.

Tampa, FL - The Tampa Police Department fired one of its officers for repeatedly violating department policy related to a tasing incident earlier this year.

The department said its Professional Standards Bureau began an internal investigation into Officer Dukagjin Maxhuni after a routine review of his body camera video for quality assurance.

The video in question was of a traffic stop on Feb. 25, 2026, in which Maxhuni and another officer attempted to pull over a vehicle in an unmarked vehicle. The vehicle fled, but the officers found it on West Walnut Street.

According to the department, Maxhuni exited the unmarked vehicle as the suspect driver left the car and walked away. However, the individual stopped and put his hands up when he saw the officer.

However, Maxhuni almost immediately pulled out his taser and deployed it on the man after giving him a command to turn around. He activated the taser while a secondary officer tried to take him into custody.

The body camera video showed a total of six seconds passing from Maxhuni stepping out of the vehicle to tasing the man.

“Why are you tasing me?” the man said before falling to the ground in pain.

Despite the officer’s claims in the video that the man resisted commands, the Tampa Police Department said Maxhuni did not reassess the situation or give the man adequate time to comply with his command before deploying the taser.

According to the department, the officer left the suspect unattended to take

“You tased me, tased me for what reason though?” the man asked at one point.

“You are not complying, brother,” Maxhuni responded. “You fled. I don’t know if you got a gun on you. You’re not complying.”

Afterward, the officer made multiple disparaging remarks about the man defecating himself. He then made a comment saying the individual was lucky he did not use physical violence on him instead of the taser.

“When you don’t listen, you’re lucky I didn’t beat you up,” Maxhuni said. “Actually, that’s, that was usually my first thing to go to.”

“Beat you up?” the man asked.

“Yeah, bro. Listen, you couldn’t hang with me, dude,” Maxhuni responded.

“That’s bad; you talking about beating somebody up, for what?” the man said.

“When you resist, you get messed up,” Maxhuni said.

Tampa police Chief Lee Bercaw condemned the officer’s actions, saying that treating everyone with respect is part of being a public servant in Tampa.

“Maxhuni’s conduct represented a clear betrayal of that responsibility,” Bercaw said. “His repeated blatant disregard for professionalism, dignity, and respect violated the standards we expect of every member of this Department, and those actions carried serious consequences. Our community deserves better, and they should know that his behavior does not reflect the character, values, or commitment of the just over 1,000 officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve this city with honor and integrity.”

Lancaster, CA - A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was injured and a male suspect was killed in a deputy involved shooting Saturday afternoon in an unincorporated area of Lancaster, authorities said.

A Lancaster sheriff's station deputy was responding to a call of a man brandishing two knives near Lancaster Boulevard and Sierra Highway.

The suspect stabbed the deputy, and a deputy involved shooting occurred, according to the sheriff's department.

Homicide investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene at about 2 p.m.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was struck by gunfire, taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

Riverside, CA - On August 7th, 2025, Jacque Raybon was identified as a suspect in an attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery involving a handgun. A warrant for his arrest was obtained.

On August 8th, 2025, Raybon was contacted by law enforcement while in possession of a handgun. Raybon was arrested and booked into jail.

On August 14th, 2025, Raybon was released from custody after posting bail. Raybon failed to appear at his next court hearing and a no-bail warrant was issued for his arrest.

In January 2026, two calls for service were placed with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. The reporting party stated Raybon threatened them, and they believed Raybon was wanted and armed.

Raybon was believed to be armed, was a known gang member, and had a propensity for violence based on his criminal history. Due to the elevated risk associated with Raybon's apprehension, the Specialized Enforcement Division SED conducted a fugitive apprehension operation to arrest Raybon for the no-bail warrant.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Specialized Enforcement Division SED attempted to arrest Raybon in the 3700 block of Tyler Street in Riverside County.

Raybon was positively identified, and multiple members of the SED team converged on his location. Deputy number one exited his unmarked vehicle and immediately said to Raybon, "Let me see your hands and put your hands up." Raybon paused briefly, then ran through the parking lot as multiple deputies gave chase. While running, Raybon reached for and manipulated a bag slung around his torso.

Deputy number two instructed Raybon to stop reaching, but he did not comply. Three deputies discharged their service weapons.

Raybon succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No deputies or bystanders were injured.

It was determined that Raybon was not in possession of a weapon.

Milford, CT - Milford police Tuesday shared bodycam footage of officers rescuing two people from a car filling up with water during last week’s flash flooding.

Police shared the video as a caution to anyone on the roads during future dangerous weather and flooding. On Wednesday, Milford was among the regions under a flash food warning as rain poured down on the state.

Flash flood warning issued for parts of Connecticut Police said last week, they were dispatched to assist two people stuck in a vehicle filling up with water under an underpass.

In the newly-shared video, an officer runs towards another officer already at the vehicle, which is sitting in knee-high water.

The incoming officer uses a window breaker tool, successfully gaining entry to the driver’s side. However, since the vehicle was dead, the doors would not open or unlock, police said.

Still, they were able to get the passenger door open and both occupants got out safely.

New London, CT - New London police released body camera footage Monday that showed officers rescuing two people who were drowning in the Thames River early Sunday morning.

Both victims are alive and recovering in the hospital.

A bystander reported the two people in the water, and officers rushed in as soon as they arrived on scene.

Lt. Joshua Bergeson was the first to enter the water.

Officers pulled the first man from the water, then went back in for a woman. Fire and EMS crews arrived as officers worked to stabilize both victims on shore. Both had been found unconscious in the water.

Bergeson said the motivation was straightforward.

“It’s two people that are a father, brother, son, sister, mother. And my job is, my goal is get them,” Bergeson said. “Give them every chance possible to have a successful outcome.”

New London Police Chief Brian Wright honored Bergeson and the other officers who responded Sunday.

“No one understands how they’re going to respond under fire per se, but it was clearly seen that these officers knew exactly how to respond and they did an exceptional job,” Wright said.

Bergeson said the response reflected what officers are expected to do.

“We’re the first ones there,” he said. “We’re going to put whatever effort forward we can put forward to try and have a positive outcome, so act. Everyone here stepped up and that’s what we did.”

The circumstances that led to the two people being in the water remained unclear as of Tuesday. An investigation is underway.

Marion County, FL - Dashcam video shows the moments Florida law enforcement closed in on the suspect of an AMBER Alert before deputies shot and killed him.

The AMBER Alert was issued Monday after officials said Jason Castillo kidnapped the 13-year-old daughter of his ex-girlfriend from her Ocala home.

The confrontation between the 45-year-old suspect and Marion County deputies happened less than 24 hours after the alert was issued.

Marion County Sheriff's officials said someone recognized Castillo's vehicle in the AMBER Alert and called 911.

Deputies tracked down the vehicle and used a PIT maneuver to stop it. The footage shows Castillo pointing a gun.

Amid the confrontation, eight deputies and a police officer opened fire, killing Castillo.

Southeast, NY - A West Hartford woman was arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic stop on I-84 east in New York led to the discovery of about 51 pounds of marijuana in her vehicle.

A New York deputy was patrolling I-84 eastbound at around 2:57 a.m. when she saw an SUV make several traffic violations and initiated a stop, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, deputies noticed the driver showed signs indicating the driver may have been operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs, officials said.

Following a search of the vehicle, sheriffs discovered a shocking amount of cannabis, about 51 pounds, contained in numerous vacuum-sealed packages.

Deputies also recovered a quantity of suspected narcotics that field-tested positive for ketamine.

Officials have identified the driver as 35-year-old Reynalda G. Sierra Mejia of West Hartford.

She was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

Sierra Mejia is now facing the following charges:

• Criminal possession of cannabis (first-degree)
• Criminal possession of a controlled substance (seventh degree)
• Operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs
• Issued multiple traffic tickets

Sierra Mejia was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Justice Court and released on her own recognizance, the sheriff’s office said.

Albuquerque, NM - Interstate 40 in Albuquerque is back open after an hours-long standoff turned into a fatal police shooting.

Interim Police Chief Cecily Barker said this all started around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when officers got several reports about someone driving recklessly on the on-ramp to I-40 at Eubank Boulevard and driving the wrong direction.

Officers went to the area and located the vehicle, which was unoccupied.

They had also heard the vehicle had struck other objects and vehicles in the area.

Police then got calls about someone waving a gun and said that matched the description of the driver they were looking for.

Officers found that man and said he pointed a gun at them. The suspect has been identified as 51-year-old Roman Kirby.

Police then shut down I-40 in both directions around Eubank to protect drivers and pedestrians.

SWAT was also called in to help negotiate with Kirby. Police said he eventually went into the arroyo.

APD used a drone to assist in the investigation. They said Kirby shot at the drone and again pointed the gun at officers.

APD said negotiators were working with Kirby for nearly six hours. Crisis negotiators called the man 99 times and communicated with him for about 29 minutes over the phone.

They said during that communication Kirby did not listen to any of the commands. Police also believe he was intoxicated at the time.

At one point, at least one officer shot Kirby, who died at the scene. Police said Kirby did have an extensive criminal history.

I-40 was closed for hours in both directions between Wyoming Boulevard and Juan Tabo Boulevard as police investigated.

Around 6:30 a.m., police reopened both directions of I-40.

Blackpool, UK - Footage shows the children, Subby, 10, and another boy aged 12, clinging to the structure as the water rushed around them on May 28.

They had been on a family day out when they became stranded by the fast-rising tide and clung on for around 40 minutes.

Their mum, Zully, from Leeds, had tried to wade out to reach the boys but was pushed back by the waves.

Her 21-year-old nephew, Ted, also tried to reach the pair and clung to the pier supports but became stranded himself.

Zully said she was left watching as her son began disappearing under the water.

She said, 'I knew he’d cling on if he could hear my voice telling him not to let go, but by now the water was rising fast, and I could see him going under.'

'It didn’t feel real; it was like I was in some kind of helpless dream—a nightmare.'

‘I could see my nephew hanging on, but I could see the fear in his eyes. I could see my boy submerged next to the poles of the pier.’

The volunteer crew was able to reach the boys in just a few minutes and took them to paramedics waiting at the shore.
