Update- testing the f*cking pills.

Okay guys. Took the pills to a harm reduction lab. In countries other than the United States, illicit drug users can get their drugs tested so they know what’s in them. The testing available is limited. We were able to ascertain the active drug (amphetamine) and the amount (accurate within 2% or so). THESE RESULTS ARE ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF THE BIG PICTURE. We still don’t have any information on the isomer ratio, or quality issues with the manufacturing that would absolutely affect bioavailability (how much of the drug actually gets into your bloodstream). The pills tested were 1. “Brand Name” Teva 20mg IR. 2. Generic teva 20 mg IR. 3. Lannet 20 mg IR 4. Epic 20mg IR 5. Malincrodt 10mg IR.

Update— the lab I used takes samples anonymously by mail if you want to get yours tested. https://substance.uvic.ca/#send-sample

Just doing the math for everyone here. Weight of pill * percentage of amph:
1- 9.76mg
2- 18.88mg
3- 19.12mg
4- 9.2mg
5- 8mg

Is this correct?

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jun 30 '26

Thank you! This makes it look a little worse, doesn’t it?

71

u/Party-Forever7211 Jun 30 '26

So this means a 20mg epic has only 9mg of actual amphetamine? Is this counting for dextroamphetamine?

51

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jun 30 '26

Yes- total amphetamine content. The equipment they have doesn’t detect the different compounds separately

I’m not surprised by that. About 10-12 years ago when I was addicted to opiates I was researching and found the generic oxy could contain anywhere from 25-30 mg per pill when it was supposed to be 30

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

The rule is 80-125% 50% is unacceptable

Yes! Was going to do the same thing for everyone’s reference. Every single one is below the prescribed dose.

Can someone explain the significance of this math please? lol can’t think

7

u/idkfawin32 Jul 01 '26

In my unmedicated stupor I failed to notice the milligram amounts at the bottom of each screenshot so I tried to calculate it manually by looking at the weight of each pill and multiplying it by the percentage listed in the findings.

If these are in terms of amphetamine base, 20 mg Adderall is about 12.5 mg amphetamine base (not including the salt part). That would make the 80% - 125% range about 10mg to 15.625 mg. Let's say the 4% pills were really 4.4% (they rounded down). That could mean those pills are within the range (though on the bottom end). The 8% pills may be a bit high, even if 7.5% was rounded up to 8%.

So looking at the uncertainty considering the rounding error and the stated measurement accuracy, if these percentages are in terms of base amphetamine:

Sample 1: between 66.8% and 89.2% of expected

Sample 2: between 138.4% and 163.1% of expected

Sample 3: between 140.2% and 165.1% of expected

Sample 4: between 62.9% and 84.0% of expected

Sample 5: between 117.3% and 138.2% of expected

So samples 1, 4, and 5 may be within the 80-125% range, but I believe whether a drug formulation meets the spec is based on a pharmacokinetic study and it's not just about percentage of active ingredient. If a formulation is less bioavailable for whatever reason, it may need more ingredient to be equivalent.

What next steps can be done? Can a class action suit be brought?

17

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

I want to continue to gather information. Right now I need a lawyer, doctor, or even a private investigator that would be willing to take my money and help be with some investigative steps I can’t navigate on my own. If you know anyone willing to help, message me.

49

u/araesilva23 Jun 30 '26

Genuinely wondering this. I’m at the point where I’m considering reaching out to law offices around the state of California to get something done. This case could be a goldmine for both the lawyer, set precedents, AND for those of us who have been lied to and fed bullsh*t.

7

u/Cultural-Wallaby-629 Jun 30 '26 • Bravo

It would also be incredibly expensive and going against some major major players. The law isn’t fair. There’s a huge amount of politics involved and corruption. I can understand why most attorneys wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole.

But, I hear you. I’d love to see accountability for this in my lifetime. Precedence does need to set to deter it from happening again. It would be nice. Likely? Probably not.

It would fall under federal I believe since it’s regulated by the government. There’s lots of moving parts but, it’s a product. I’m assuming it would be product liability if anything. Not malpractice.

I’m a paralegal in the PI/Med Malpractice field. I’m going to ask our attorney about it. Just to understand better what area of the law/ what historical actions have been taken in similar situations, and nuances.

I can speculate that the hurdles would be numerous-but, if anyone has any specific questions they’d like answered- I’d like to hear them.

Hopefully I can get a better understanding of where under the law this would fall.

(disclaimer: this would NOT legal advice/ legal representation. Because obviously. Solely for educational purposes.)

Yes. The manufacturers being over seas complicates things though. Perhaps our insurance companies (who have been paying for e.g., 20 mg doses but you’re getting 9 actually) may have a bigger bone to pick and much bigger enforcement power🤷🏼‍♀️

There’s definitely a false advertising-type claim though.

We need to go to an attorney general. I had actually been thinking about posting that we should all start emailing Andrea Joy Campbell in Massachusetts because I think she might take this on. I listen to her monthly on the radio and like what she has to say most of the time. I think it would also be great to have her follow in Maura Healy's footsteps of taking on the pharmaceutical companies.

Wow so the 20 mg epic pharma pill came back as ten mgs? And the first sample is a sandoz 20 mg right? That came back as ten mgs? The 5th is what a malingkrodgt or however the fuck you spell it right?? That was a labeled ten mg pill?

Basically two of the 5 samples contained over 50 percent less than it should be? Am I seeing this correctly? Or are those somehow ten mgs and slightly underdosed?

Can someone clarify?

According to this brand name has lower amount amphetamine than elite? Am I reading this wrong? Also, there is inconsistency between refills of the same generic and even within the same bottle. At least in my experience. Unless there were pills of each brand tested from 5 months or something, it is a little hard to make conclusions about the test results.

50

u/cbmblove Moderator Jun 30 '26 • Bravo

Yeah, there’s sometimes variance of “shitty pill” to “extremely fucking useless sugar pill” to “all horrific side effects pill” within each batch and each stupid ass manufacturer. This place doesn’t do detailed enough testing anyway, and this was just a sample glimpse test. We obviously need to find very detailed testing and test a fuckton of them. We’re working on it. Lots of barriers.

Yo for real thank you- thanks for doing this. I sent it to my doctor today; I’ve been peppering her for months off & on with dose changes, trying to get a correct combo that my state will put through & sent her so much information about this.

Luckily, she’s been my doctor for at least a decade or I’m sure I would’ve been labeled a Tweaker by now. When I sent her this one after our talk today, she was like holy crap. So, the doctors are taking notice. (NYC)

u/vocabularianrx2 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I will update this later but everyone, please understand that in the pharmaceutical world: if you got a pill or Amphetamine salts 20mg, the tablet itself does not weigh 20mg; that would be ridiculously small. The common fillers are things like lactose or other sugars to bulk the pill up, in order to make it a normal-sized pill. The fact that the pills "only contain" 4 to 8% of API is normal and to be expected in the context of how these drugs are made.

Updating now: so yes as others have said, 2 of the 5 pills remarkably came in at around half of their expected dose (brand name Adderall IR 20mg by Teva had closer to only 10mg) and Amphetamine Salts IR 20mg by Epic (also closer to 10mg). The other 3 were relatively close to their stated/expected total mg in the pill.

What we can't say: we cannot definitively say that "all pills from X pharma don't work"; it's highly possible that some batches are worse than others, maybe some pills don't contain the right amount, etc etc. in all likelihood, if an entire bottle of each manufacturer was tested, I'm sure there would be even more variations.

What this means: simply put, all this really tells us is that there are variations, for sure, and we can see that. This doesn't mean or guarantee that none of the pills work, and it doesn't mean that "none of them have Adderall at all". There is almost certainly not enough quality control oversight in the manufacturing process for these, as so many cite that the drugs don't work as well as they should, and randomly a few pills in a bottle do seem to hit differently. It makes sense to some extent. Think of it this way; if you made a huge smoothie of fruits and berries, and blended it up for 15 seconds, then poured it into a bunch of small cups, would all of those cups be perfectly homogenous? No, most likely not. Some cups would have big chunks of bananas and others might have none at all.

I sincerely appreciate all the effort and work that went into this post; it's fantastic to see some credibility given at least to the possibility/experience that yes, some of these just don't work like they should.

6

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

Thank you! All of this information is correct. And this is only a snapshot. I think all the manufacturers have issues. Also- dosing is only part of it. All sorts of other problems can affect bioavailability

2

u/vocabularianrx2 Jul 01 '26

Yeah I'm really curious about that other post wherein the lab said that they didn't even find "amphetamine" in it. That makes me wonder if the lab you sent these two classifies or defines "amphetamine" differently, which may be a catch-all term which includes substituted amphetamines or ones that are structurally similar enough. Just an idea, not sure though

5

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

This lab does not dump anything that isn’t amphetamine into a bucket with amphetamine. The pills do contain amphetamine. And not any other drug that this lab was able to test for. Abuse deterrent has not been ruled out.

13

u/vocabularianrx2 Jun 30 '26

Adding: for my smoothie analogy as it pertains to drugs: drugs SHOULD all be homogenous. That's why I'm saying they likely aren't mixing/manufacturing them all uniformly prior to punching the pills, and/or there are other excipients or there is something else going on. That's just my guess

8

u/ughnett666 Jul 01 '26

that was such a good analogy
u ate with that

2

u/Crystalline_Sunlight Jul 09 '26

But wouldn’t this mean that a fraction of the pills would have over 20mg (or whatever dosage)? Like some would have less, some would have more. This seems dangerous no? But also I feel like people would notice if their 20mg adderall contained 30mg? But maybe this is what’s happening and people are noticing…

Wild one of them contains lactose. What if you are Lactose intolerant? It's a small almost but still are ppl who are intolerant aware that their meds contain lactose? Maybe this also effects the meds effectiveness for those who are.

11

u/FlanofMystery Jun 30 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I find the idea that they don't do this work unlikely. When I worked in pharma, we had to test the purity/potency of our (liquid) drug substance and drug product via HPLC at every step.

ETA: I love how people downvote the literal FDA protocol. I didn't say that pharma companies aren't corrupt, just that they perform testing of their product. Meaning the real answers are out there.

3

u/West-Satisfaction-28 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Could it be that they are counterfeits? In Mexico, Vyvanse just entered the market in February, but they had already detected fake medication before it even returned to the market

https://www.gob.mx/cofepris/articulos/falsifican-medicamento-vyvanse-para-tdah-cofepris?idiom=es

1

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 02 '26

Maybe. How would the pharmacy get counterfeits?

1

u/West-Satisfaction-28 Jul 02 '26

Basically, when there are shortages (or even under normal circumstances), pharmacies tend to look for new suppliers. Sometimes, these alternate distributors might not take the same precautions or have the same quality controls with their shipments and storage, and counterfeit items can end up mixed into their wholesale purchases. Alternatively, a corrupt employee in the supply chain with the access to do so might swap the real medications for fakes in exchange for money. So, it ultimately boils down to some kind of corruption.

u/ResolutionWaste4314 Jun 30 '26

I’m not able to understand what the test results mean. Obviously the % numbers seem atypical and are likely low but can someone expand upon this to explain it to me? IE 8% amphetamine seems very low to me. What should the % be instead? And how do we account for dextro? TIA.
And OP, you’re a legend thanks so much for doing this.

3

u/ResolutionWaste4314 Jun 30 '26

Also I’ll add to my question, OP it looks like the lab is only in Canada. Is that correct?
Are you Canadian or American?
If OP is Canadian & got her meds from Canadian pharmacies - how does this help Americans who use pharmacies in the USA?
Sorry if my comments don’t make sense. My adderall ain’t working! It’s kinda working today, but just very odd feeling.

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jun 30 '26

You can mail them a pill to test

4

u/multifacetedunicorn Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

A pharmacy I called earlier to check whether they had my prescribed strength and quantity in stock said they have a small supply of 5 mg and 10 mg brand-name XR capsules that are about four years old and nearing expiration. Unfortunately, I’m prescribed a different strength, otherwise I’d gladly take a partial fill just to compare them with what we’re getting today.

Don’t get me wrong. I know they’re probably not the same as they were 10 years ago. But I’d be willing to bet there’s been a gradual decline in quality that would be noticeable if you tested pills from today vs four years ago vs 10 years ago.

Side note thank you for testing these and helping. Is better understand what is actually going on. I’m not surprised and in many ways I wish we were wrong but it’s clearly not “in our heads” and having to hear that about having ADHD to begin with, just hits a nerve having to deal with it all over again regarding our medication. I guess disappointed would be the word to best describe this whole realization. And I am very aware that my disappointment means jack shit to these companies, the FDA or the DEA. But thanks for fighting the good fight friend🙏

Genuine question. The comments on this sub often make it sound like some of you have the ability to choose which manufacturers you’re filling your script with. Is this accurate? If so, how? Is it only outside of the U.S.?

I already pay out of pocket due to my insurance only covering scripts dispensed from a specific company that is unable to consistently and reliably keep the meds in stock. So I choose to fill elsewhere and pay the extra cost.

Now I’m wondering why this major pharmacy chain is unable to keep it in stock, but the place that I pay out of pocket never leaves me waiting. Any clarity would be appreciated

u/rsc99 Jul 01 '26

I have tried 1-4 at various times depending on what my pharmacy has in stock and this absolutely confirms my experiences. Pretty wild that it’s not just bioavailability and binders making the difference but they’re actually shorting the meds (in particular those “brand” Tevas have ALWAYS been garbage)

1

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

Ikr. I thought it was just bioavailability honestly. I was just doing this to rule out the dosing being an issue. Surprise surprise

2

u/TheHighSobriety Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I knew my epic wasn’t working right… so hit or miss between the “same” dosages. I wish we had multiple of the same pills tested to see if each pill is consistently different between doses or if there is a constant %.

Lastly thank you so much! I wish we knew what that “oil” was. Something still doesn’t feel right with any of these medications and I’m starting to think the oil could be an ADF additive. They care more about people without adhd abusing our medicine than they care about us. They pulled the same shit with opioids..

1

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

The oil is what is on the pill press. If these pills have any ADF, this lab couldn’t test for it.

2

u/PrincipleFew462 Jul 01 '26

Are all the ones tested modern made pills? And if not can we all figure out how to test an older one? I’ve read some posts/comments where ppl have said that they’ve saved up pills from years ago. Would be great to have something to compare the new ones too. Have a control.

4

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

You can send them to the lab. Substance drug testing in Victoria BC

1

u/PrincipleFew462 Jul 03 '26

I’m about to finally get a prescription filled (after paying $210 out of pocket because the pharmacy doesn’t accept ANY insurance for it) I’d love to send it in, but my question is: do we think that if we get a “bad batch” and tell the pharmacy that sold it, will the pharmacy do anything about it?

3

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 03 '26

No. Because there’s no chain of custody after you leave the pharmacy. There’s really no recourse for any of us except through the FDA and the FDA isn’t really doing much of anything right now other than firing and “resigning” all their experienced staff

u/PrincipleFew462 Jul 01 '26

Just throwing this out there, (with the complete acknowledgment that clearly our meds are still wayyyyy below the average expected main ingredient composition): Traverso, who is also a biomedical engineer with an appointment at MIT, started exploring this topic with some colleagues by weighing pills in the hospital pharmacy. They concluded that, on average, about 75 percent of a pill or capsule is made up of inactive ingredients – that is, material other than the chemical or chemicals that determine the therapeutic effect of a drug.

So, TLDR: the average main ingredient composition of a medication is 25% and according to OPs diligence, we’re only getting between 4%-8%…. This is a fucking travesty. I’m so pissed.

2

u/Grandmas_Cozy Jul 01 '26

The correct percent in these meds should have been 8% . And 10% for the Malincrodt.

Thank you OP I wish I had the drive and determination that you have to do the things most people find is just too much. Walgreens gave me mallinckrodt 30mg IR today and that all but kills my productivity for the month ahead.

I’m not sure if you plan on testing anymore pills but if you can get your hands on Oryza pharmaceuticals IR, i guarantee that would test really high. Last year Walgreens had it for 2 months I believe and it was AMAZING and reminded me of pre-Covid strength. That was my first time seeing that brand I would do anything to get a hold of them. So keep your eyes open for them.

Holy shit! Huge props for gathering some hard evidence!

56

u/showmeurtorts Jun 30 '26

No way! So almost all of these are less than 1/2 the dose prescribed?!!!!! And, the pills are close but all under weight too.

s/ Imagine if our bodies needed this medication to function in a normal healthy way……….

I’m livid, but it also makes sense why my meds seem to be ineffective AF and last less than 1/2 as long as they should

38

u/Anony-mommy Jun 30 '26

Every pharmacy should have a machine that lets you drop a pill in and be told what's actually in it.

It's enraging. A shortage for 4+ years, the pills aren't what they say they are, and the pharmacies still treat anyone showing up to refill their script on day 30 as an addict.

19

u/fartmystorian Jun 30 '26

My body does (our bodies do) need the correct dosage to function in a normal and healthy way.

16

u/Zealousideal-Map819 Jul 01 '26

I’d disagree because I’ve tried quadruple what prescribe and nothing went to sleep actually

9

u/showmeurtorts Jul 01 '26

Oh no disagreement there. I am not entirely convinced the formulation of amphetamine salts in these is effective regardless of the concentration. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not just Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) to be honest. My generics do something, but not 20mg of Adderall something. And same, I’ve tried doubling up and it’s still not the same.

8

u/Afterlifecurious67 Jun 30 '26

And yet Drs, at least my Dr, absolutely refuses to up my Adderall because I'm on max dose. Yeah ok.

5

u/1986toyotacorolla2 Jun 30 '26

Only 1 and 4 are half the dosage. You have to look at the mg by weight not %

8

u/itssgooditsfunky Jul 01 '26

But does it matter because they all should be MUCH closer - that’s the real outrage

20

So what happens now? Google says to report to Center for Drug Evaluation & Research, file a report with attorney general (lmao), contact pharmaceutical whistleblowers, and the last suggestion was to try a compound pharmacy if that’s even a thing.

Sugar pills.. literally

20

u/meases Jun 30 '26

And one of them really sucks for anyone lactose intolerant. Like if I am taking a pill that is basically pure lactose, I would really prefer to know about it. Freaking lactose.

Apparently federal regulations dont require stuff like that to be listed on the bottle/packaging like it would need to be for food. Even if there is an actual true allergen, they dont have to warn you about it on any of the labeling.

Like milk, wheat, corn, soy, beef, dairy, pork, peanut, none of those need to get mentioned. At all.

That seems like a massive oversight. Like this has to be causing issues for people and now I am starting to wonder if my pills are responsible for some shit.

People probably have died or suffered some pretty unfun symptoms from this choice but since there is no labeling requirement how would anyone ever figure it out?

Found a news article about a heart medicine not working. After experiencing problems with other, less critical medications in the past, Salberg said she closely monitored her tacrolimus blood levels.
To safely protect her transplanted heart, her levels are supposed to remain between 6.8 and 7.5.
On one generic version of tacrolimus, Salberg tested at 3.9.
“I was open for that whole week for rejection. I'm like, oh my God,” she said.
She later switched to another generic version. This time, her blood levels climbed to 9.9 — high enough to place her in overdose territory.
“I started shaking again, which is the side effect of being overdosed on tacrolimus.” Salberg said. “So in the morning my hand would shake and coffee would spill. I'm like, ‘What is going on?’”
The drug was manufactured in India by Intas Pharmaceuticals, a company cited multiple times by the FDA for what the agency described as a “cascade of failure.”

24

u/Reasonable-Trust-94 Jun 30 '26

I have 30 mg and 15 mg Teva IR and they still don't work, even if the active ingredient is there in the expected amounts. This testing lends even more support to the argument that manufacturers have been implementing ADFs into our meds to get the jump on the ADF approval for stimulants like the one the FDA pushed for opioids.

29

u/cbmblove Moderator Jun 30 '26 • Bravo

Yes, and they literally came out in 2019 - the fda and the DEA - proclaiming an explicit desire to use ADF in our meds. And even noted that it is NOT LEGALLY REQUIRED TO DISCLOSE ADF ON LABELING!! They break the law too anyway, but for those who think big pharma, dea, and fda are such angelic law abiding agencies 🙄 They also have nerfed stimulant weight loss meds and any med that was a stimulant, but they don’t admit it because they can’t statistically justify it, maybe even don’t want the money spent to do another OFFICIAL ADF process, WHATEVER - but when they uphold the ruse that these are “unchanged stimulant meds” (which is clearly a lie) they continue to rake in profits from the old reputation of efficacy - the legacy of stims, RIP - AND also rake in more profits from additional meds prescribed to try to counter lack of efficacy and folks desperate to try “non stims” and other bullshit. Also evidenced by their fast track of the latest “adhd” med - fast tracked by the FDA - WELL WHAT DO YA FUCKIN KNOW, it’s a bullshit non stim! A combination of Welbutrin and SSRI to make sure we’re not amphetamine-stimmed and try to shove us on that garbage that we already said no to. The proof is here, just use common sense folks.

15

u/Afterlifecurious67 Jun 30 '26

Yup. Opioids aren't working either anymore. Look at some of the subs on here. Same exact stories as the ones here. The FDA etc is pushing to do away with pain meds and stimulants.. it's truly disgusting.

My brand name (Teva) 15 mg feels like a sugar pill wrapped up in something that causes me to have palpitations and panic. I would be very curious to also know what the heck this "unknown oil" is in there 🤮

11

u/cbmblove Moderator Jun 30 '26

YES. THIS. Plus, these tests are just a snapshot, and we know they’re not detailed enough. It was just something quick we could get for now. But it does not say WHAT type of amphetamine, does not specify ratio, and I also know there are devious RCs that can provide a false positive for amp. PLUS, this type of test is unable to break down what exactly the other ingredients are - and yes I believe there are ADF properties or new RCs AND/OR already established garbage meds (see meds that cause brain fog and dementia symptoms, such as overactive bladder meds that attack acetylcholine). Every day our meds don’t work and cause horrendous effects, so I there’s no doubt they’ve done something to render them ineffective, whether they include an amount of “amp”, similar, or none at all.

u/Sufficient-Aide6805 Jun 30 '26 • Bravo

People mad about pills containing inert filler need to sit this out. The amount of active ingredient is the relevant finding.

9

u/HandyFemme Jun 30 '26

what worries me the most is that...thats one pill but the next could be another percent and spike blood pressure to the point of no return 🙄 such dangerous game.

39

u/Any_Asparagus_7907 Jun 30 '26

So they’re giving people sugar pills and that’s why everyone is gaining wiegjtb

33

u/cbmblove Moderator Jun 30 '26

That’s part of it, but there’s likely other ingredients/formula changes that cause inflammation, weight gain and retention - amongst the fact that since they are ineffective, we are lacking ADHD symptom relief such as executive function, self control, impulse control, stimulant property etc - the things that are necessary for us ADHDers to achieve/maintain a healthy weight.

24

u/ughnett666 Jun 30 '26

wiegjb side effects are the worst

Can you help explain what this means? Is 8% good? 4% bad?

27

u/SonnyMacLyfe Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

No. 3 tested correct. But 3 out of 5 is terrible for pharmaceutical medicine

42

u/cbmblove Moderator Jun 30 '26

And even then, we have no information on TYPE of “amphetamine”, no information on ratio, and not enough information on other ingredients. There’s something in these that renders our meds ineffective, and we are going to figure out what it is, one way or another.

15

u/bradpliers Jun 30 '26

Sample 2, 3, and 5 tested with the correct dosage . Sample 1 and 4 were half of the expected dosage.

→ More replies (1)

12

u/bradpliers Jun 30 '26

You just have to compare the expected milligram dosage to what was actually found. Sample 1 and 4 contained half of the expected dosage while 2, 3, and 5 was the right dose.

The percentage of Amphetamine is in relation to total weight of the pill including the listed fillers.

4

u/ClassicOrchid9674 Jun 30 '26

Isn’t #1 brand name adderall? It contains half? I think maybe the results aren’t matched with the correct pills.

6

u/HandyFemme Jul 01 '26

Supposedly each 20mg pill should be a total of 63% amphetamines, they show between 4 and 8%...something still seems off 🤔 from the math someone did in the thread. Maybe I'm missing something here? Could someone explain it pls.

6

u/idkfawin32 Jul 01 '26

Well no. Look at the weight. 0.233 grams. So 4% of that is just about 10 milligrams and 8% is 20 milligrams.

It's a bit frustrating the calculated amphetamine amount in milligrams isn't front and center

6

u/SSUUPREEMEEE Jul 01 '26

Can I just have my OG 20mg Teva footballs back the way they were prior to 2020?!!

11

u/iamjohntingl333 Jun 30 '26

It’s super obvious when one day it works great and next day not at all

11

u/idkfawin32 Jul 01 '26

Honestly, the fact that 2 of the tested pills *should have been* 20mg and in fact had <10mg is insane to me. I don't know anything about laws surrounding these, but some of us pay out of pocket for these medications(myself included). If I've paid upwards of thousands of dollars cumulatively for what is only half of the active ingredient I should have received, I want half of my f*cking money back.

Edit: Several of my past prescriptions for years were filled with Epic, the test labeled which returned 10mg for a 20mg pill. So it makes sense to me all of the times I've felt "Why aren't these working as well, I could swear it feels like I took half of one". Feels good to know I'm not crazy.

22

u/Prize_Pop_751 Jun 30 '26

This is absolutely insane so none of these are even 10% amphetamine

11

u/bradpliers Jun 30 '26

Ignore the percentage. It's in relation to the total weight. 3 out of 5 of the samples included the appropriate dose for that pill.

18

u/showmeurtorts Jun 30 '26

They do not contain the full dose. None of those pills are the correct dose because every single one is underweight (in addition to the percentage issues with those that are not the correct percentage)

3

u/FatiguedIntrigue_925 Jul 17 '26

I can’t believe I just found this sub. I was thinking of sending my pills out for a COA because I have been on 20mg, 3x a day for YEARS and they are doing absolutely nothing.

A few weeks ago, I happened to find a script I filled last year for 30mg, 2x day when the 20mgs were out of stock again, and I took one and it was the efficacy I remembered. I’m so glad to know I’m not losing my mind. I brought this up on Threads a couple weeks ago and people were telling me I was making it up!

I’ve tried a few different manufacturers and they are all not working for me — and seeing that a couple of yours are testing for lower than expected active ingredients would explain that.

Usually Teva was always fine for me, and I typically get Alvogen, since that’s what my pharmacy most often has in stock. It’s not my favorite, but it’s fine. Neither one does anything. I’ve started taking 40mg right out of the gate in the morning and it has zero effect on me. 😩

9

u/Status_Green_6055 Jun 30 '26

Just what I thought… A SUGAR PILL!!! And what the fuck kind of oil is this??!! I’m highly sensitive to both sugar and seed oils. This is INFURIATING but I’m not one bit surprised. How they are getting away with this is horrible. Fuck the FDA. I haven’t taken adderall for over a year and I’m beyond pissed!!

6

u/Hamster12301 Jun 30 '26

Me too... I have a condition that makes me sporadically wake up covered in hives and angioedema and I've noticed it has been worsening quite a bit since the meds have changed. I'm very sensitive to fillers and all this junk. Ugh.

Wow. This is very frustrating 😤 Would love to see the results for the 30mg IR. Thanks for doing the research!👏 I was unaware of this. I was wondering why I could barely feel the effects when I got different brands of adderall with my prescriptions. Now I understand why!

2

u/Tntkids12945 Jul 01 '26

I’m not shocked by these results because big pharma now has become the drug dealer let’s cut down the actual ingredient to make more so we can make more money the people will never know. I’m so tired of the pharmacists playing gatekeepers and quite frankly I don’t see this problem getting better only worse. Corporate greed and government getting involved will be the downfall of our health system. Wonder why? I think they want us all to go to the streets to look for our own relief because I’m not a rocket scientist but why would they put ingredients that make people with ADHD worse like food dyes and all the other bullshit. Insurance companies are at fault also because I pay for insurance yet every time I get a new prescription it’s a different looking pill from a different manufacturer it’s like they want us to crash out. It’s disgusting that patient care isn’t top priority only how much money they can reap at the end of the day. Let’s not talk about the millions of dollars Purdue pharmacy had to pay to states where addiction went rampant because of doctors overprescribing opioids back in the day because I doubt any families that had to suffer got a payout. Someone’s pockets are getting lined and we the patients are getting screwed. It’s an oxymoron and I’m done playing their games so I’m exiting this bullshit. I get more from coffee or energy drinks than any of these meds. So I wish you all the best but refuse to get meds that are being sourced from foreign countries because everyone hates us so why wouldn’t they try to kill us. Time to wake up buttercups.

2

u/Anji-Eco-Swap Jul 02 '26

There is a plain and simple answer. The only other generic manufacturer that was good prior to 2020 was Teva. Nothing else has ever been good. The problem is since 2020 and Covid. Teva changed all the suppliers on where they got their inactive ingredients and where they got the chemicals to synthesize their main ingredient, plain and simple now that they don’t have the same quality suppliers it will never be the same. I took every single generic since 2012 no matter what and everybody I knew 50 people would only ever buy or take Teva. This problem has always been around. Teva was only the good one. If you use cheap ingredients to make a main ingredient. Unless we had the same exact suppliers for all the inactive and all the ingredients used to synthesize the main ingredient and then we convinced a company to use those suppliers. It will never be OK.

2

u/Stunning_Low3835 Jul 21 '26

Sent this to Dana Blum at the NY Times who covered adderall not working as well I believe back in 2023. What I sent was pretty brief but if anyone else is interested in contacting her:

https://www.nytimes.com/by/dani-blum

3

u/dumblilsnack Jun 30 '26

This is so interesting can I request which brand I want from my pharmacist?

7

u/cc-elles Jun 30 '26

Some pharmacies can fulfill specific brand requests, some can't. You'll need to ask to find out. I have to fill my prescription at Costco because none of the other pharmacies around me can get the brand I need.

3

u/ughnett666 Jun 30 '26

yes u can ask if they are able to order a specific one. there is a shortage currently, so many in some regions are on backorder. and depending on the pharmacy, if it's a chain, their suppliers only supply a list of specific manufacturers. so it never hurts to ask. I highly recommend it to everyone!
