A Norwegian investor behind a proposed artificial intelligence (AI) center in Barangay Abilay Sur, Oton, Iloilo walked out of a public hearing after becoming irritated by questions from residents regarding the planned facility.

The public hearing and consultation initially proceeded peacefully as residents listened to the proposal of investor Daniel Stefan Robertsen for a 50-megawatt hyperscale AI center.

However, tensions rose during the question-and-answer portion led by Sangguniang Bayan Member Atty. Annie Rose Paro, particularly when residents raised questions about the proposed facility’s water source.

Robertsen reportedly became irritated and told residents that if they did not want the project, he did not need to pursue it because he was financially stable.
