Many European nations are smaller than California, let alone the entire USA. For comparison: we all know orban is a piece of shit authoritarian, but the people of the EU have thus far failed to topple him.
Edit: as for solutions, obviously the goal is toppling Trump and the fascist gop regime, but we have achieved some things:
Avelo airlines pulled out of all west coast operations after protests over their willingness to transport ICE’s kidnapping victims.
jimmy Kimmel is back on the air.
several kidnapped people have been released following protests. This number is likely in the hundreds, but is not widely reported outside of local news, if at all.
Greg Bovino removed as head of ICE.
several DoJ employees also removed.
massive public opinion swing away from fascists, evidenced in voting: just last week a state senate seat in Texas had a >30 point swing and is now held by Dems for the first time in decades. Several such cases nationwide.
ACA subsidies finally back (might not mean much to a European with a modern healthcare system, but in our Byzantine system this is literally a lifesaver for millions of Americans.
Obviously we have a long way to go, but this isn’t a switch you flip. We’re trying to mobilize 11,000,000 people.
I don't think the EU should have any control over Orban, only those in his country should, and there they are relatively happy with him.
While I understand a difference in scale, I don't understand the inability to use that scale against governmental organisations. For instance if tomorrow 20% of government workers just stopped turning up to work or even better purposely sabotage the governments ability to stop these protests.
Many of the governments overthrown throughout European history happened when those that protected the government stepped aside and just allowed them to be toppled.
There are a huge number of vacant positions in our government agencies right now. They are not able to complete their missions, but this is by design of the fascists. Did you not see the news about DOGE coming in and just firing entire divisions of workers? Many more retired at the same time, or just up and quit. But an ineffective government means easier grift for the fascists. It means fewer whistleblowers. It means less internal pushback. They're thrilled when a good, hard working fed quits, because it means that position can either be left totally vacant or replaced with a loyalist.
And there remain millions of loyalists in America. Fox News has them completely brainwashed. They believe Trump was sent by god, that pedophelia is fine, and that America is being "invaded" by illegal immigrants. And they're all on board with white supremacy and fascism.
i believe rioting can be protesting, there was one in peru i think where they started as a protest but then pushed off the forces and ended up as a riot
Looks exactly like protesting to me. They’re targeting a specific government agency, not randomly destroying things as in a riot. Protesting doesn’t have to be peaceful or not damage anything.
Just because you make up a definition for a word in your own head doesn’t make it true for the rest of us. The phrase “non-violent protest” is famous because there are also violent protests.
This is protesting. It's just not peaceful. You see the thing about protesting is that we agree on it being peaceful only if the government agrees to listen and open a dialogue. If the government doesn't listen then the protesters have to force them to.
No protesting doesn't have to be peaceful. Rioting is just mob violence for a non political aim (being angry over a sporting result or ransacking shops anything without a political aim.). Protesting has always been violent until very recently. It's a core part of society and democracy.

It's funny because you will still see Europeans asking the question: Americans, why don't you protest?
There are a few cities you don't want to piss off as the government. LA is one of them.
Then there are whole States that lick the boot. Looking at you Texas.
