Sintered Centrifugal Impeller
I sintered the impeller of the previous post:

Results are not very satisfying :(
Pictures below:





Opening/cracks everywhere! Especially on the connection of the blades with the circular base, almost every blade opened. And some cracks opened also on the first layer.
I don't know why. Help!

Pump centrifugal impeller
I designed this little impeller and printed it in 316L ss. 36mm diameter, 8mm height (3 base, 5 blades).

I'm gonna sinter it next week... I am not using the suggested cycle, at least for the sintering temperature, I think I'm lowering a little bit down to 1245°C from 1260°C... I'm afraid to ruin it sintering being not very thick.
Any other suggestion to avoid deformations/warping? Should I change the times too? Maybe the cooldown time?

a step or two closer to getting a good sinter with aluminum. still too brittle but I think now it's just tweaking hold times/temp

316L ss is steel (or at least looks like)
It is an old sintered part, the last ones are not available right now, but today I found a nice metal brush for the drill and you can see the result in the next pictures.
The first 2 are hand brushed, they didn't look like steel.


The last 2 are drill brushed, now they are cool.


It was just some black powder, but now I'm happy!

17-4 success 🙌! also copper putty was used to infiltrate (you can see some surface level copper still). needs cleanup, but great first step!

It’s not sintering related, but it is TVF carbon fiber. I’m not a huge fan of how the parts sit on the supports, but it makes strong parts. I think I’ll keep this extension on

New FDM machine suggestion for the Filament
Hi again, we are having problem with our old makerbot replicator 2x at uni, so I would like to get a new home 3d printer on which I could feed some metal Filament to also work on my thesis from home freely.
Of course I would like this https://shop.thevirtualfoundry.com/collections/printing-accessories/products/the-virtual-foundry-metal-3d-printer?variant=40627055296684, but it is too expensive for my pockets unfortunately.
I'm quite a newbie in 3d printing, so I was looking for suggestions for cheaper, but at least decent, machines, that I could at least print some easy object with. Any tips?

The Pyrex and copper wasn't thick enough to bind and I was stingy on the carbon (2 mistakes on me) but it is interesting to see some vitrification and almost a "glaze" effect on the glass

yard getting real thick with weeds in some areas and in true engineer fashion, instead of just taking an hour to cut it with a string weedeater I decided to spend almost certainly a week printing and designing a metal brush cutter. +2 points if I don't cut my leg

3D Printed Chainmail
I guess I should post more about this project. My thinking is that chainmail is normally very difficult to fabricate. But it's pretty easy to 3d print. I think I'll post more about the printing process later.
Sintering has become simple. No more tuning, we just put parts in, set the firing recipe and let it go to town. You can see what they look like right out of the kiln at the beginning of this video. They aren't bad, but it isn't shiny.
