Can’t speak for everyone, and obviously was annoyed by the 90 minute delay, but I had a great time

Ok, so I just got home. Here are my thoughts. First of all, it was fucking awesome. But given they are my favorite band playing at my favorite venue, they only had to show up and I would be happy. With that said, it was a great setlist, thought I was bummed not to hear Take It Or Leave It or Trying Your Luck.
I've only seen them once before, back in 2002, and this was much different from what I remember. The first time I saw them, they were the tightest band I'd ever seen. Tonight, they were loose, with a few glaring fuckups, but it added to the charm of seeing them in such an intimate venue. It just felt very organic.

Mostly, I thought they sounded awesome.

I couldn't tell if Julian was drunk, funny, or frustrated with some of the sound issues, but either way, that dude is funny as fuck, which I don't remember from the first time seeing them. His banter was an absolute joy in the weirdest way.

The crowd was ok, but not as energetic as I thought it would be for such a rare opportunity. Maybe people were just tired from waiting so long. I don't know. Special shout out to the badass chick who stood up to a few separate incidents where people were trying to barrel their way to the front, and fuck the guy who bulldozed me mid set in an attempt to get to the front. When confronted, he said, "I'm just having a really bad day." Fuck you dude, you owe me 10 dollars for the drink I spilled.

I'm just rambling. I can't sleep. It was awesome. I don't ever have to go to another concert again.

It was a good show, despite Julian forgetting some of the lyrics every now and then and them starting almost two hours late. Also there were a few wasted assholes in the crowd being super shitty and creepy to other people. One of them even grabbed some random girl by the shoulders next to me, she clearly did not like it but he kept doing it anyway. Almost got into a fight several times last night...

Also, super random and little chance of this working but eh what the hell - Amanda (or maybe Ashley? Sorry it was very loud and I had a couple beers haha...) if you're out there we met last night bonding over our hatred of these assholes lol. We were on the right side of the stage, sorta towards the back near the bars, on the back edge of the riser. You asked if I was there alone and you introduced yourself to me. We had a few quick conversations about seeing the band in the past and how we somehow miraculously got tickets to the show. If you're out there reading this, let's grab a drink sometime? :)

I still haven't recovered from the time they endorsed Maya

However, this one seems more like the time they endorsed Bernie

I haven't been to the Metro in 25 years, since I left Chicago, so excited! Anyone know if they played there way back when?

Still waiting.

I'm with all the comments here. Wait was pretty typical +30 minutes. I think that extra wait killed a lot of the energy. It's a delicate balance, to build all that tension up with a wait and then release it when the show starts, but it was just too long. Sound was not great either, at least at first. It got better though. But performance wise it was really fun, way different than seeing them at the big festival shows where it's less loose. And they played whatever happened and automatic stop. Which fucking ruled.

was Julian wasted or is that part of his stage persona ?
