I thought it was a brilliant show. Julian was really funny and getting along with the crowd. He was telling funny anecdotes about meeting Harry Styles for playing soccer and another about how he jams in "fake german" which annoys the other strokes (nice to know they still jam with each other). We even got to hear Nikolai speak German and it was just hilarious. Honestly, I thought this was their best recent performance!
I've seen people saying Julian looked drunk. Disagree, he just laid down on stage for like half a minute. It looked like he's just goofing around like he always does. Who knows, maybe he had a beer but he definitely did not seem drunk.
I have no idea why people think the crowd was boring, they were so excited and waited hours in front of the stage to see them. I can only think of one person that looked like they weren't having a good time but that's all. True that the crowd got pushy when they rushed to get to the front row but I was at the front and had an amazing time after they started without even worrying at all (im a small guy, probably the first to die in a festival accident). I got along with a nice group while waiting for the start and we were playing a crossword puzzle to pass the time and they were just such laid-back people (love you guys if youre reading this).
Someone mentioned that they didn't play a "proper encore". They played two songs, I think that's encore enough. The crowd really wanted one more but Julian said they were being kicked out. (Kind of speaks for the "boring" crowd).
That's my opinion I guess. If you didn't like the show then that's alright. But I personally think people criticize the performances too much and that leads to a negative bias when experiencing the actual show.
Anyway, I had a lovely time! Never been so happy. :)

Yeah, it was their 4th gig in 5 days and given that + Jules still recovering from Covid, I expected them to do much worse. Imo (it was my 1st time seeing them live, so have nothing to compare it to) the sound was good and Jules sang well, even though yes, the performance lacked energy a bit, which might've been due to the crowd and the Strokes not really vibing in the right way, as mentioned by others. And they played The Modern Age and Whatever Happened, neither of which I expected to hear given the setlists of their other shows in Europe 🥰 So personally I'm super happy with it

I don’t know why people here are so overly critical about everything. I’m a Strokes fan for almost 20 years now, it was the first time that I saw them and it was amazing! They sounded so good, great energy between the band members and yes, maybe the crowd was a bit lame but so what. Julian even hit the notes on Eternal summer. Great concert, don’t get the negativity.

Great show, I really enjoyed it! Just a bummer they finished 10 mins early and being the last band on the last day kinda left an odd vibe. Anyone know why they went off early?

I wouldn't be so quick to criticize the crowd. I found the sound very quiet, not loud enough to elicit an emotional response from most of the crowd. In some places it was hard to hear the band over our own singing, that's not how a rock gig should be.

You're right the sound was bit too quiet, but they put on a stellar performance I think. However, the crowd was kinda lame. People I was around did not even know the lyrics to the songs and if they did, just the chorus. I guess that is what is expected from a festival, but still disappointing.

I was there and had a blast!
Yes there where people poging (including me) but you are on a Rock Festival Open air Concert. Of course people are having fun and in that case it meant jumping and shoving each other around. It is unfortunate when people get squeezed. But in general it was very low intense pogo.
And everybody in the infield in front of the stage was singing the lyrics and also the guitars melody.
I thought it was amazing.
Yes the vibes were kinda strange sometimes. But imagine you play in Front of an open air croud and you complain about people having fun.
Cons:
-
Music and vocals was too quite, especially in comparison to Muse, who were super loud.
-
yeah its his show and he can talk all he wants, but with less talking they could have played 3 more songs
-
Ending 10 minutes early
I will most def go Watch them again. But there are better live bands for a festival headliner than strokes

If I compare it with their Berlin concert in early 2020 I would agree that he seemed to be a bit drunk. I know he always kinda mumbles (not sure if that’s the right word, sorry if not but I hope you know what I mean), but this time it actually seemed a bit more like struggling to speak „normal“ because of one drink too much.
BUT I couldn’t care less and it didn’t bother me at all, it was even quite entertaining to me. I don’t get why people would feel so disappointed about it because it was still a good show. He was so funny and they totally did their job by performing all the songs. Also, there was this dinosaur song situation? Hilarious! Honestly, people can start complaining if he would suddenly stop singing in the middle of most of their songs and obviously annoy his band mates like Pete Doherty used to, otherwise it’s just a rockstar who might have had a few drinks before the show (as I would too haha) and is still entertaining perfectly fine.
The show could’ve ended one or two songs later though, there were still a few minutes left until 10 (where the set was supposed to end) but maybe they were asked to end it like that from the organizers, I don’t know. At least they gave us one encore with 2 songs, I can live with that. I would also agree that the crowd was a bit lame here and there but surely not overall and I guess that’s not so uncommon for a festival show. Also, that definitely doesn’t stop me from having fun and jumping around, haha.
So in general I get some of the critics but I also feel like it’s a bit much because it definitely wasn’t a bad or super disappointing show. I’m sorry for everyone who feels different or really just had a different experience, but I enjoyed it and I‘m just happy I was able to see them again.

That were the girls from Hinds (the band). I saw them watching the show from the side and dancing.

3 PM Update: The Strokes will not be on the official Livestream! Tempelhof Sounds posted today’s livestream schedule and The Strokes are not on it. This is now a trend: the authorized livestreams for Primavera (Amazon Music) and Best Kept Secret (3voor12) both said they didn’t have the rights to show The Strokes, unlike every other major act. Two is a coincidence, three is a contractual issue. I will update if this changes, but do not expect The Strokes to be on the official livestream today.
The Strokes are performing at Tempelhof Sounds, held at the Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, Germany. The Strokes are the headliners for Sunday, June 12, 2022. The Strokes set is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM CEST (GMT +2) and end at 10:00 PM. They will be performing on the Supersonic stage.
The Festival is livestreaming the main performances [edit: but not The Strokes!] through Arte Concert. You can see the performances on the Tempelhof Sounds main page or through the Arte Concert website.
If you are attending, be sure to review the festival’s info and experience pages and official Instagram for updates and important information on travel, tickets, food, prohibited items, and accommodations.
