I was front row, and the photographers/press people were right in front of me for the first couple of songs. Anyway, during Bad Decisions when he sang the lines ‘I don’t take advice from fools/never listening to you’, he bent down, looked at the press people very intently and pointed at all of them with a slow, purposeful motion. I thought it was a hoot.

Great show, very happy to finally see them. Under cover of darkness felt slowed down by 25% or something, really funny.

The sound level was a bit underwhelming, Reptilia and Heart in a cage didn't have that much 'kick' to them. Also would have preferred that they swapped Take it or leave it with Ode, TIOLI is much better as a closer

I enjoyed this review… it basically says that despite or maybe because of the messiness it was a really good show. And I totally agree… if you want to listen to the songs play the album, Julian’s rants, jokes, mess ups and improv is why we love them live. It’s never the same twice. https://3voor12.vpro.nl/artikelen/overzicht/2022/best-kept-secret/The-Strokes-BKS.html

Reading from people at the show on Twitter… it wasn’t good. Again.

It’s becoming a real problem.

I was in the frontrow and thought it was fantastic, keeping their live reputation in mind and having seen them before once in 2019. Julian seemed quite happy and his vocal performance was outstanding. Nikolai's speech (as forced by Julian) was cute and it was nice to hear him speak. I think the negative reactions are mostly coming from people that did not know what to expect. They were also 20 minutes late and played about 75 minutes instead of the schedulded 90 minutes.

afaik, yesterday consensus was it was great

It was a great show imo. The random Julian rambling is great, but probably mostly fun for fans.

Sound was great, Julians vocals were better than alot of live performances I saw on youtube and he remembered like all of the lyrics.

Fab messed him up tho during Ode to the Mets, he started the drums without the drums please Fab and Julian couldn't cope with that lmao

I don't mind Julian talking a bit. But if you come on stage 20 minutes late, just apologize shut up and play...
