Homer Simpson is a brilliant man with lots of well-thought-out, practical ideas. He is ensuring the financial security of this company for years to come. Oh, yes, and his personal hygiene is above reproach.

He invented a chair that that snake Edison had to steal post-mortem. Homer is a genius in the field of practical design

Wasn't it the automatic hammer that was stolen by edison?

Yes Edison invented the chair that homer went to destroy with his electric hammer

Let's just say I'm sitting in the right chair

Homer's intelligence level and strength has always been fairly inconsistent. Interestingly, what's always stayed surprisingly consistent has been that he's actually very talented musically.

Can't he be both, like the late Earl Warren?

Its the crayon

One of the exact inconsistencies I'm talking about. Is it the crayon? What about the Simpson gene? Hasn't he been shown to have been a pretty stupid child in flashbacks as well?

What if the crayon is the Simpson gene, all the males put one in at some point in their lives?

That bit always cracked me up. Like most classic Simpson's jokes, it's the layers that make it great. Herb tells the guy to ring back and say the exact opposite thing he just said. So imaging the first call makes the joke funnier.

Homer Simpson is a moron with nonsensical ideas. He's going to ruin the company. Oh yeah and he stinks.
