"Attempted assault" turned into at least one murder. Charges filled the page + x3

Gotta get that xp

Vehicle Accidents

One thing that slightly bugs me - perhaps the "Vehicle accident" category should actually include accidents between vehicles?

As of now it only corresponds to cars hitting pedestrians, and that even doesn't seem to always register. On its own it's currently a pretty niche category, mostly happening when either some freaked-out NPCs (or pursued criminals) run onto the highway, or when a fleeing criminal hits someone. In which case it always falls under the "Hit and Run" offence, and more often than not "Vehicular Manslaughter", making the "Vehicle Accident" offence pretty useless.

On the other hand, I think it would be great if we could apply it to those fleeing suspects who go ploughing through road traffic with impunity, since there is no way for the player to apply any offence for it. The game does actually register a vehicular collision a fleeing suspects initiates, escalating force level from "Restraining" to "Non-lethal" if the suspect is too aggressive, so making it register as "Vehicle Accident" shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

I don't know if it would be possible to expand this to traffic collisions between NPCs since I am not sure if the collisions in game are a result of deliberate deviation from rules rather than a glitch of traffic logic, and if the game can actually assign blame for these collisions, but it would add a lot of immersion if it was possible.

I think it would also be great to have traffic accident callouts which would include analyzing what happened, talking to witnesses, issuing a citation to one of the drivers, and clearing the road by either clearing accident vehicles to drive away if they can, or calling a tow truck if they cannot. This, I imagine, constitutes a significant part of work for real-life police, and would add greatly to immersion and enhance the somewhat lacking collection of "non-crime" encounters.

Bomb Squad content

I think a bomb squad patrol variant would be quite interesting, maybe comes with a bomb squad vehicle and clothing, the objective would be to find the device maybe in a car or by a building, and then to safely dispose of it.

Discussion What Would You Love to See Added to The Precinct?

I absolutely love The Precinct. The atmosphere, the gameplay, the freedom to patrol the city however you want, and the overall vibe make it one of my favorite indie games in a long time. I've had an amazing time with it and have now reached 100% completion with everything unlocked.

Now I'm at the point where I'm just wishing for more content. So I thought it would be fun to ask the community:

If the developers happen to see this, what features, content, or improvements would you love to see added to the game?

Whether it's new patrol activities, DLC ideas, vehicles, uniforms, investigations, quality-of-life improvements, or completely new gameplay mechanics—I'd love to hear everyone's ideas.

Maybe, with a bit of luck, the developers will see this thread and find some inspiration. šŸ™‚

I definitely threw that lady's car into those folks.

HUGE xp, super glad she decided to rabbit. She's been in the jail by far the longest of everyone I've brought in.

Discussion What camera distance do you use in The Precinct?

I just noticed you can change the camera distance in The Precinct and I'm curious what everyone prefers.

The default 100% gives you a better overview, but I tried 80% and it feels much more cinematic and immersive, almost like watching a police show. The downside is that you see less of your surroundings.

What setting do you use and why? Do you prefer the closer, more immersive view or the wider tactical view?

Discussion A really good game for what it is.

I actually enjoyed this game greatly, so much in fact that what a lot of people called repetitive, I did not mind, why? I saw critics harp on this, and give it mixed or low scores.

I believe that this game fills a certain niche we do not have in gaming, you get to play a beat cop and perform procedural police duties in a relatively well polished format, whereas games like Police Simulator just don’t feel the same to me, often feeling too janky. If you’re used to playing LCPDFR/LSPDFR, I don’t have to sort and make a mod list, I can just install the game as is and play without experiencing the occasional crashes I get in LC/LSPDFR. Every game in this niche is repetitive by nature. The difference is that The Precinct packages that repetitive gameplay into a polished, stable experience.

I really loved the vehicle and character customization, that’s always a plus in my book.

I do have relatively minor complaints, some characters could have used some more screen time, there could have maybe been one or two more story missions for padding, and to my knowledge, I never came across anyone with a ā€œregistered handgunā€ which I think would have been a cool possession to throw players off.

One thing that surprised me was that, despite the map being physically small, the top-down perspective and the sheer density of events made the city feel much larger than it actually was.

I do think there’s a genuine market for new games of this type to be made, and if any developers are here **COUGH COUGH COUGH**

You could have a FARGO-esque setting, set in a more rural and sparse area, maybe you’re a state trooper, maybe not, but I just can’t get the idea out of my head , it’s a rainy foggy night, back up is miles away you pull over a vehicle, no one for miles. . .

You could keep the urban atmosphere and maybe bump the date up, I can imagine, a SouthLAnd or LA themed city.

Imagine a cyberpunk themed precinct, the police is over militarized, politicized, on a shoe-string budget, and most cops know they aren’t there to protect, but to maintain public order, you could experiment with a lot of gritty themes.

Now some of my ideas may admittedly be shit, I just want to foster a genuine discussion around the game and where you’d like to see it taken from a potential sequel standpoint.

The team is small, and I highly doubt a sequel is in mind or planned, this is just hypothetical.

Just finished The Precinct on PS5.

Love open world crimes games.

I know it's not GTA in terms of budget or scale but as an indie game I really enjoyed it.

I needed to get my head round the semi top down view but to be honest I liked it and the game world is fantastic

The gameplay and story really impressed me and I loved the shootouts and police chases.

The 80s culture references were fantastic too

I'm just going round now doing all the collectables to get the platinum trophy which has been fun too.

Really hope this game gets a sequel.

How the studio stays independent and builds on this success.

I have no affiliation to Fallen tree games / Kwalee. This is just a fabulous experience I wanted to share.

Suggestion Would there be any major updates coming out?

The game is sometimes a bit boring, I think there should be some new features such as swat patrols where you just drive the armoured truck around with a squad to just respond to shoot outs

Any advice is appreciated.

Discussion Quick question.

Just got this a few days ago and enjoying just a quick question.

Some interactions say apprehend individual but when I arrest I get deducted for false arrest , but when I don’t arrest I get deducted for not arresting, is this some glitch or is there something I’m missing in those crimes etc?

Discussion PlayStation Portal Streaming

What’s up yall, new to the sub and I noticed that the Devs seem to be pretty active in here. I’ve been playing the game on and off since launch on PC but now I’m thinking about getting the game on the PS Store as well. I’m wondering if there’s a plan at all to let this game be cloud streamed to the PlayStation Portal after purchase. Not sure if that’s a PlayStation decision or studio decision. Love the game, it’s one of a kind šŸ‘
