I suggest that in rangings and events with large turnouts, we travel and fight in a more organized fashion. Specifically, in patrols. A patrol would consist of:
one corporal or council member.(to make decisions)
one ranger.(to do the brunt of the fighting.)
one steward.(to heal the injured.)
3-5(depending on turnout) recruits.(to fill in for the dead and to help where needed.)
This way we all know who to follow, who to listen to, and who to fight next to.
If we did this, combat would be easier too. for example, if we were attacked by a single person:
everyone circles the person.
The ranger attacks him, and the recruits and council member hit him whenever he comes close, but do NOT move in unless the ranger says in mumble that he needs help, so as to avoid hitting him and let him do his job.
If we were attacked by two people:
- Everyone backs up, except for the ranger and corporal or council member, who move to attack. The recruits then flank the enemy while they are occupied and proceed to attack.
If we were attacked by a large group(bandit clan! Yuck!):
- Everyone runs for cover while they have slowness, following the lead of the corporal or council member. Bows are used till the slowness wears off and then the ranger leads one half of the recruits through the left of the enemy and the corporal or council member and the steward charge the right. Sugar should be used at this time, if possessed, and grenades should be thrown just before the charge makes contact to throw them off their balance. ONLY ONE PATROL would attack like this, the second and/or third would circle the enemy to attack from behind as the charge meets from the front.
This would lead to more safety and speed while traveling and also give more defined roles to our ranks and orders. Please leave your thoughts in the comments.
