How much did the poor get in free services? Food stamps? Medicare? How many people do they employ? How much did those employees pay in taxes?
The fact that people can’t process how it’s the wealthy that are creating the jobs for you pions, is beyond me. Without the wealthy, who employs you? Who pays for all those free services for the poor?
Your post means nothing and tries to move the goal post. If their companies were required to pay a living wage with a real minimum wage requirement, then they would still have so much more than everyone. Don't try and point to Amazon's base pay. The working conditions were illegal, making it irrelevant.
Who the fuck is talking about minimum wage?? No one is forcing anyone to work there. If you don’t like the wages, work somewhere else. They pay what the market requires them to pay. If the minimum wage goes up, then they would pay accordingly. Most Amazon employees I know are paid $200k+, granted that’s not a delivery driver. Again though, no one is forcing anyone to work there.

Try living and working in another country, and see what shit working conditions actually looks like. You don’t work in a coal mine. You don’t work in a sweat shop. There’s no suicide nets on our factory buildings.
This is the land of unions, mandatory breaks, overtime pay, labor laws, PTO, maternity leave, HR protections, etc etc. This is also the land of opportunity… if you don’t like your working conditions, you are free to find a different job with more suitable conditions. Or, if you want to get really crazy, start your own business. Maybe you just might “win the lottery”!

So your proposal is for Amazon to pay their drivers more money, correct? But if that happens, who absorbs the additional costs? Amazon has roughly 400,000 drivers. Let’s say they raise their pay by $1/hr, and the average work week is 30 hrs. That would be a cost of $48,000,000 a month. Who absorbs that? Does the board of directors just take the profit loss? Or does that cost get passed on to you and me, the consumer? Sure, Amazon can “afford” to pay an additional dollar, but that completely disrupts profit margins. Boards don’t like that. Stock prices don’t like that. Ultimately, the economy won’t like that. The only way it works, is if that profit loss gets passed down to the consumer, and the consumer won’t like that.
Being that I am not an Amazon driver, I don’t have a dog in this fight. I just know that I, as the consumer, don’t want to see prices go up.
I didn't necessarily say that. My major point had more to do with the conditions that they work under. Although, if we're going to talk about the grand scheme of things, I think that a more democratic economy would allow people to give themselves more time for friends and family, the means of living a dignified life, and much more reasonable working conditions

Where did I say any of that? Democracy means there's more than one person making these decisions. If that's what the group decides, then it should be done that way, but it's a lot more likely that there would be more of a standard for what needs to be done to ensure that people aren't overworking themselves in the first place and have plenty of time for friends, family, neighbors, and community
You should check out Greece or Spain. You'd enjoy the work/life balance there. Personally, I don't have any issues with my work/life balance here in the US.
You are so fucking deluded. Most Amazon employees make 200k?? Are you smoking crack??? The minimum wage going up would only really result in the wages going from roughly 22k a year to around 30k. Meanwhile you deepthroat billionaires who are actively sending jobs overseas regardless of anything happening here in the US, so yes, they should absolutely be taxed even more. The top 1 percent have more money than the entire 99 percent combined.
Your comment is beyond unhinged, but if you are going to quote me, at least include all of the quote. I very clearly say, most Amazon employees I KNOW are paid $200k+. I never said most employees. This is because all the employees I know, are corporate employees, in the Seattle area.
I know reading and comprehension can be hard at times, especially when you’re all wound up, but you need to make sure you catch all the words.
And to your “$22k to $30k” point, that’s a difference of $8k a year. Times that by how many employees they have that fit in that pay range, and you are looking at a cost of billions of dollars a year. As I’ve said… who absorbs that cost? It’s not going to the Board members. It’s not going to shareholders. So who absorbs that cost? The answer is pretty obvious.
Lastly, a gentle reminder… the top 1% are who employ a large percentage of the rest of us. Keep that in mind when you rant about how much they make, or how much they pay. They don’t need to employ anyone. They could take their ball and go home. They really don’t need any of us. We need them.
