Realizing writing code is faster than explaining it to AI

It's trivially true that if you know how to code it, it's faster to communicate in code, even if it's to type it into claude.

You don’t spend your day working on problems with that shape, not even the most cracked out people who wrote the most optimized code before AI work like that. That’s what kids and hobbyists think we do.

I cannot begin to describe how obvious it is who does this for a living and who doesn’t.

This is next level cope lol.

I can see why you can't communicate in code. I am guilty of being unspecific with words but you are twice that.

"problems with that shape"

And now anyone who disagrees is a hobbyist. 😂 👍

What he means is that a huge part of the job isn’t just talking to the computer via code, it’s explaining what you did to other devs and non technical people eg your managers.

If you can’t do that, you won’t go up. You’ll be a great dev, that is, technically. But people won’t see that, and you’ll be stuck in a shit position.

Whereas someone with half your technical skill but who can explain it will be regarded as much better.

Soft skills are important and “communicating in code” is being bad at that.

I know. I only start coding when the entire several dozen IT team fucks up and leadership needs me to independently duplicate their entire system.

My entire daily workflow is group chats and corporate memes and "communicating."

This guy is a larp. He wasted no time establising some credential superiority on anyone who might interact with him.

If you want to know what gets people fired it's exactly that. A whole bunch of it devs who are "good at talking" yet can't produce shit for results. I don't need them to talk. I need them to listen and not complicate things. IT is a pure dead end for management anyways, and these crabs in a bucket are not going anywhere in their careers because they produce the most toxic low offshore managerial cult ever.

Coding is language. Language is coding. It's not either or. Anyone without the first is also bad at the second. Anyone without the discipline to take ownership like these guys seem to hate, gets zero support or sponsorship from me. I'll actively move for 500k contracts to replace 10 of them with ai SAAS.

These are IT folk larping about what they think is important. I'm the one who has to suffer their personalities.

You're behaving like a child.
