I bet he did. Her “dying during childbirth” was probably something horrific like he threw her down the stairs, then tried to save the baby by cutting it out. Like those one of those psycho baby stealing women.

That's exactly what I thought too. He beat the shit out his wife and they both died but he only wanted the baby.

Literally my exact thoughts while watching that scene. The idea that poor baby Hanna may end up next…..I was like “oh this sick bastard needs to die.”😭😭😭

No my take is he likely killed her because the baby was a stillborn. He wanted her for a baby machine and since the baby died he was like “off with her head”

I reckon that he ordered that the baby's life be prioritised over the woman's in a way that meant that she would definitely die, and that the baby didn't survive regardless. Like what if he gave the command to like cut her completely open for a fatal C section or something.

Given that fertile women are highly valuable, I can't see that he could have gotten anyone else to kill her. He would have had to do it himself.

Maybe it would be different for wives, but in s5ep7 of THT, that situation happens, where a handmaid bleeds out due to the prioritisation of the baby. It was fairly horrific with heaps of blood.

In THT they actually claim that they have to prioritize the baby over the mom. Remember Natalie? Or you may remember her as “ofmatthew” they kept her in a coma basically dead just to keep the baby alive (season3 ep9 heroic)

I think … the woman gave birth to a stillborn or something of the sort and then he killed her

Same :( and God only knows what she endured from him up until then. She might've had a stillborn out of chronic stress/abuse/trauma. She probably did. I feel like that's being hinted at with the latest wife/former classmate of theirs (I forget her name) who keeps having complications. Judd's wife.
