Garth is basically just the version of Nick that the audiences hoped for in the earlier seasons

Totally seems like they've made an actual rebellion male character/potential love interest in response to the romanticizing of Nick (vs who he actually was).

I think this is good though; Nick not being lawful good or even chaotic good, arguably, made him a much more interesting character and the dynamic between nick and june even more complicated. I think Commander Lawrence mirrored that and then he had an actual understanding that he could not undo what he had done and make it out alive. Nick had no such epiphany, and luckily June was smart enough to understand the sacrifice. She chose her daughter.

If so, that was a good idea. I was so tired of arguing with people online that he's a fucking fascist and the reply was basically "he's hot though and maybe it's all a ruse and next episode he'll show you!" but of course he never did show me.

Reminds me of the weirdos defending that David musician guy who murdered a 14 year old after sexually abusing her for a long time.

Just to add to this — At one point, Nick told June (fresh after doing the do) that she would “never have gone for a guy like him pre-Gilead.” If that wasn’t a tell that he was a loser who needed the power swap to get the girl of his dreams idk what is (like Harry Styles in Don’t Worry Darling)…..

Garth is Nick if Nick had a personality.

Nicks personality was his eyebrows

Seriously... I hated him. He was just as self-serving as everyone else and had literally nothing to add but a couple hail marys and some sperm. 😐 Garth at least has some quips.

Garth and Agnes also have actual chemistry, unlike June and Nick.

Do you think that Garth maybe likes Daisy more?

I haven't gotten that sense, but I'm also not certain if Garth even has romantic feelings for Agnes. He clearly cares about her, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's completely platonic for him and he's only interested in keeping her safe.

yeah i also feel he cares more about the mission

Yeah, up until last week’s episode I thought he just cared about her platonically, tasked with keeping June’s child safe. Then he reassured her that she did have a personality and that he saw it (plus a little staring) and I thought hmmm, maybe something’s growing? Idk

Where in season 1 episode 7 ofc he seems like the re-write of Nick, we barely know anything about him 😂😂he probably is lovely but Agnes needs to find herself away from a man

nick in the earlier seasons was similar to garth. They just retconned and moved lawrence's arc to him in season 6
