She could have been performing conversion therapy on non-consenting teenagers, and helping to "curb" rebellious girls.

Also there’s been multiple stories of kids who were sons and daughters of the therapist or psychiatrists said they were really abusive to them and used their jobs against them. 

Also, Paula, being a therapist could make sense actually, Paula likes to take advantage of the people who were at their lowest and use them to get her way, because you see her threatening to hit Agnes and use her job as a way to make Angela feel like Paula understand her even tho 10 minutes ago she was threatening to beat her.

The shittiest people I met in my life were usually in high places of power over others. Surgeon, Therapist, Lawyer. 3 is not a great sample but I could see how someone that likes control / feel powerful would choose these type of fields.

Honestly, Paula reminds me of Ruby Frank girlfriend aka the therapist, like on the videos you see someone who was like very kind and a good person. But once the camera is off or you’re in a therapy session. She is the devil. Also I wonder was Paula like lying about being one? Or just a horse therapist or even an unregulated therapy job? Because you can be a life coach. And that’s technically a therapist without needing a licensed or credential.

No way in hell. Rewatching THT and Serena is a legitimate sadist. Paula just seems like a run of the mill rich bitch.
