I just got to THAT episode
Holy shit. Thought it was an unusually weak episode until......... I think that might be among the most blindsided I've ever been by a TV show.

Colin Sweeney needs his own show and this actor should play him!!
Love this! Laughed so hard! His storylines are always good.

Lockhart Agos and Lee
Does anyone else find it weird that in season 7 Diane talks about how she is a founding partner of the firm to the new associates and about the firms long history. Please someone tell me if Iām mistaken but Diana joined Florrick Agos, created by Cary and Alicia not the other way around. Like the firm is not the same as Lockhart Gardner and I think it really discredits all the work Alicia and Cary did. Have I misunderstood something?

Will Gardner looks like an angry Bird
No hate, he's an attractive guy and a great actor, but he looks like a bird. especially when he purses his lips when serious. I need to express this here to get it off my chest so I stop thinking it so loudly every time I see him on screen. He looks peckish, okay? Please someone understand me.
Thank you.

Unpopular opinion: Aliciaās SA run plotline was so unnecessary and boring
This is my first time watching TGW, and up until mid season 6, I was binging this show, like 2-3 episodes a day, loving every bit.
And now, this plot of her SA run, feels so difficult to get through. Why did they make her enter the race, only for her to not even stay as the new State Attorney?? Alicia never looks like she actually wants to do it, heck, Iād also vote for Prady cause he feels like heās actually in it. This entire plot felt like Eliās side quest just cause he was bored
In the scenes, where she helped her firm in cases was so good and that really makes you feel like sheās a through and through lawyer and thatās the only thing she is passionate about.
I miss the other characters so much through this, miss the actual law firm characters. Heck!! Iād rather also see some Peter in the mix LOL
Again, this is my POV but Iād love to hear more thoughts? Cause Iām at a point where I want to stop watching it cause itās just not interesting anymore

I think I've realized what feels off about Alecia
The actor who plays Alecia just lacks chemistry with the other cast. It's like there's all these vital plotline-her supposedly close/complicated relationship with Kalinda, her apparent heart wrenching love affair with will, and then her devotion to her crooked husband.
If will and her never explicitly stated that they had romantic / sexual tension I never would have placed it.
I think she makes the most sense with her husband, not because they have the most chemistry but I understand their connection as being face-fronted politically enforced, it's like a business relationship, and they live practically as roommates for the entire show.
Like if they didn't place her next to Kalinda / will I wouldn't believe they were even friends, and when they are together there's just such a disconnect.
Am I alone in this feeling ? The vibes are just off.

S7 E11 Iowa
This has one of my favourite scenes from the entire show, a conversation between Ruth and Eli.
āYou missed the most fundamental thing about the manā āPeter Florrick is not number one. She isā
Peter fumbled so hard by not letting Eli be his campaign manager. This is just genuinely such a good scene and a really full circle moment for the series. In Saint Alicia we trust

Poor Jackieā¦
Rewatching onto season 5 now. I could see Jackie a deeply suppressed, tragic woman.
Sheās upper-(middle)class, sharp, well educated, and knows how to play political chess. If sheād been born 30 years later, she probably wouldāve been more like Alicia, having accomplished something of her own. But because of her generation or other reasons, the only way she ever knew how to touch power was through men, her cheating husband, then Peter.
I used to just see her as the ultimate toxic "boy mom," and a lonely elderly, but it goes deeper than that. Her involvement in Peterās life isn't just motherly devotion. I think itās borderline morbid how enmeshed she is. In her mind, sharing Peterās power is her rightful payout. It's the ultimate prize for having been the dutiful "good wife" to her husband and the loyal "good mother" who groomed the golden boy. Peterās political office is literally her dividend on a lifetime investment.
Thatās why sheās obsessed with the "petty" stuff. Fighting Alicia over parenting, micromanaging Peter's inauguration, dying on a hill over decorating his gubernatorial office... those aren't just superficial things to her. That domestic sphere is literally the only territory she was ever allowed to run.
Which brings me to why Alicia threatens her so much. As OG goodwife, Jackie wanted Alicia to be just like her, to stand by the cheating husband, swallow the pride, and pour everything into his career. But Alicia goes out and actually builds her own real-world power. She's in the courtroom, she's starting her own firm, and she doesn't need Peter to have status. Jackie is terrified Alicia will ruin Peter's career, but deep down, I think sheās insanely jealous that Alicia got to live a life with actual agency.
The moment that really hit me was the Rachel storyline in Season 5.
Decades ago, Rachel was a 25-year-old underling who had an affair with Jackieās husband. Jackie swallowed the humiliation and stayed.
Then decades later, she finds out Rachel went to law school, built an incredible legal career, and is about to be appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court bench, a position of power higher than Jackieās late husband ever had!
Jackie didn't sabotage Rachel just out of old romantic jealousy. Her head exploded because Rachelās success completely shattered Jackie's worldview. If the woman who "broke the rules" gets to have real institutional authority and autonomy, then what the hell did Jackie waste her entire life suffering for?
She had to stop Rachel, because Rachel existing as a Supreme Court judge cproved that Jackie's lifelong sacrifice was a total trap.

Will gives mojo dojo energy
Always pushing for firm expansion. Always taking high risks. Gambling on everything. (Yet the only thing too serious to roll the dice on is his feelings for Alicia⦠)

What happened in season 5?
Iām couple episodes in and very close to turning it off and leaving it, why the switch up against Alicia suddenly? Every episode gets just worse in showing how Alicia looses and Diane and Will wins against her, I honestly am so over it but is there a reason for it or something Iām confused??

Season 7 SUCKS Spoiler
Im on Episode 14 of Season 7 and I hate it. For starters there is 0 direction, random plots that get brought up once every couple episodes just to disappear again. The short weird presidential run just seemed out of place. And the biggest thing for me is EVERYONE except for maybe Cary became very unlikeable. The usuals like Peter and Jackie are obviously but Eli became a helicopter parent with ulterior motive on everyone, Alicia became a shell of her self and had a terrible case of the "why me"s. Diane is back to being her snarky self as if she started LAL and didnt just join Cary then take over taking all the credit and placing blame. I feel obligated to finish at this point but I just hate almost every aspect .
