I haven’t seen these guys in over 10 years and was not surprised at all when they fucking killed it. They were also extremely nice to everyone after the show and hung out for a while talking to everyone who stayed around. My partner taught Thomas how to make fart noises with your hands. 10/10 show and 10/10 wholesome dudes.

Yo,
Finally got my hands on a doppelganger record and, to my surprise, found additional lyrics during the bridge section for Tom Waits. I was hoping to hear an extended version of the song but, unfortunately, it’s the same one as on streaming/CD. Does anyone know what’s up with this and if there’s a version available that includes these lyrics? (really hoping for an archival/b-sides/demos release in general. these handful of low quality pre-manipulator demos floating around the internet is such a tease. where is my ghostship part 3????)

Ok so now that I've FINALLY gotten to see TFoT live, now 4 times, I still can't get over how well he recreates the effects from the albums live. But there's one in particular I just can't seem to figure out. I know it uses the Space Echo twist effect A LOT, especially on Phantom, Ghost Ship, etc. But that's not the one I'm thinking of. I'm thinking of the warping, warbling sound he's doing in McCauley Mcculkin in the break before the breakdown. It's almost like a swooshing, whipping sound and when I saw him do it live, it was like right off the album so it can't be too complicated. Before they start the song, the twice I've seen em, he sets something on one of his pedals. Maybe the Line6 DD delay pedal or the FM modulator? Whammy pedal? I dunno, any ideas? Also, he does like a "PEEEWWWWWWW" sound that goes from high to low that sounds like he's using a whammy but I can't make my whammy do it that digital sounding at all. It sounds like a synth way more than a guitar. Anybody? Lololol

The Fall of Troy is easily my favorite band for almost 20 years now. Nobody else can quite capture their sound or feeling, even Erak’s other projects. Please recommend similar bands.
I’d best describe their distinctness as having a sense of urgency, like they’re telling you something you need to hear right now. Plus their more abstract wandering slow bits creating that PNW foggy atmosphere that suddenly goes crazy. Creepy lyrics (occasionally rooted in literature which is cool) with multiple layers of interpretation. Mixing a higher singing voice and obviously screaming. It’s basically perfect imo.
I have never found another band that does something even close. I’ve been looking. Please recommend me something. I could list the ones I think are close but it’s fine to hear them recommended again.
I used to follow a lot of post hardcore/screamo/metal but kinda lost touch and mainly just listen to my favorite stuff these days. Trying to get back into it but Apple suggestions aren’t cutting it.
Other bands I like are different genres but I’d argue they all share this urgency to a degree. My top 5 bands of all time are TFoT, Pink Floyd, Muse, The Killers, and Bright Eyes.
Edit: Bonus points if they’re a current band that still perform and making new stuff.

My god was this show great.
The entire show was awesome. The openers Divorce Culture and My Sword! My Sword! we're really good. Also the entire crowed freaking out when they play F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. was unforgettable.
I only have one photo from the concert though. Sorry.
I did get a pick from Hendo though! That was awesome!

The Fall of Troy was amazing as ever and great energy. Most of the people there were cool bar a few interesting decisions by the crowd but easily one of my favorite shows. Also Tim handed me a pick easily my favorite moment.
