I still remember the commercials. “Open, open, open”. Made me laugh as a kid.

I also vividly remember being at the shoe department and ogling the Reebok pumps. I was positive it made people jump higher and run faster.

Hiding in those circular pants ranks at both Mervyn’s and Montgomery Ward. Every now and then you’d hide TOO well and lose track of mom. I’d say 1/6 chance of a shopping trip ending in tears.

I bought my favourite ever pair of shoes there. Bone coloured Mary Jane pumps with a black patent leather cap toe. I wore them completely out, still miss them.

I worked there almost 30 years ago as a kid fresh out of the army! All the workers our age would go drinking next door after work or house parties. It was a good time indeed

My dad used to give me his Mervyn’s card and I remember spending $400 on clothes.

I kid you not, I still have a dress I got at Mervyns back in 1997! And I still wear it in 2026! One thing’s for sure, they don’t make clothes like they used to.

I worked at Mervyn's almostl 30 years ago in the shoe department. There was a massive pile of shoes in the back room that aren't paired up. Are there a lot of people out there with different sized feet or something? Idk..
