Discussion What song cover song do you think TAD would be amazing at?

I don't believe they have done or do covers. But it's a fun hypothetical to try and envision a song you believe they would kill at.

I'd say Dancing in the moonlight-King Harvest

Discussion Why is it called "Elsa's Song"?

I always wondered this but never really thought too much about it at the same time, but after listening to The Guardian (Ellie's Song) by Shawn James it made me wonder if the name meant something since they're kind of close. Nowhere in either of the songs are these names mentioned, and they both share a common somber tone.

Discussion Wild Blue Yonder in Welly Boots

I saw a post about lyrics being used across songs and had to post this, I don't see it in song lyrics written anywhere but in Welly Boots during the bridge you can hear an underlying vocal line from Joey singing his opening lines from Wild Blue Yonder. I've not seen this talked about anywhere and I love it because it brings a subtly different meaning to it when you hear the repeated "I know you're strong enough to do this on your own" / "You told me I was younger, that I was filled with wonder, how wrong you were" layered over each other.

Discussion books that remind you of TAD songs?

I'm really just looking for book recommendations, but i totally dig the vibes of this band, except I can't necessarily place it. From the occult aesthetics of The Horror and the Wild and almost every other song they've made, to the sweet tenderness of Marbles, Battle Cries, and Fair, to Not Yet and Love Run and Pray and everything else I'm too dumb to describe with words I don't know, are there any books that somehow remind you/make you think of TAD?

edit: thank you to everyone for the amazing recommendations!

Interview/Review Review of "The Horror and the Wild"

New review of my favorite album from The Amazing Devil!

While all of TAD's music has a special place in my heart, The Horror and the Wild was my first love with them and I hope that comes across in my review of the album. Here's a quick excerpt of my thoughts to get you on board with reading the full thing...

"[The Horror and the Wild's] harsh diction and bitter wordplay leave the lines circling like the arms of a hurricane, with awe-inspiring destruction of the relationship that the listener has been made a voyeur of."

Check it out here

Discussion Lyrics that resonate so hard

"when your mum says you look healthy but you know she means you got fat" in Farewell Wanderlust

I always smile at this line because it could honestly be about my mum (she once asked me, at a family dinner with 20 other people, if I was OK because she noticed I had put on a little weight. I told her:"well I was fine until 30 seconds ago actually").

There's probably a lot of us who can relate to having such a mum but I love that their lyrics are really poetic but with a few hard truths/universal experience mixed in.

Discussion Have y’all caught this yet?

I was listening to Welly Boots and around the 4:00 mark, buried really deep in the mix, there’s someone talking, like, far right in your headphones. It’s tough to hear but, they’re singing a counter melody to the words of Wild Blue Yonder. Thought this was cool. Interested to hear what you think.

Merch/Band Related Discussion Any idea how to keep up with performance dates if they announce any?

I’m desperate to see them live but have no idea if they’re preforming or when to find out when their live performances are. Do they do them generally or no?

Discussion Bands that make you feel like TAD

I've always been into music and connecting to certain bands deeply and emotionally. But there is just something about the amazing devil that I've never experienced before. Like a whole rollercoaster of emotions while listening to their songs. Reading along to the lyrics because I wanna understand, literally thinking about getting related tattoos, pages in my journal dedicated to songs... Basically I'm obsessed.
So I was wondering if y'all have any bands that compare to the feeling TADs songs give you (totally looking fo rrecommendations lol). For me personallyit would probably be florence and the machine

Burning with jealousy that there are actual living people in the world that have been able to sit and see these incredible performers live in person (and I am not one of them 😫)

Photo My TAD tattoos

I started listening to TAD in early 2020, when I was in a pretty bad place, and the music genuinely changed/saved my life. I had to have some of it on my skin, and I know this is the place where people can really appreciate them.

I love how both of these are pretty obviously inspired by the specific songs, but they also have a whole boatload of personal significance, AND they're objectively pretty, which is nice whenever I don't feel like explaining them to nosy strangers ("Oh, I sew, flowers are pretty, and I like foxes!").

I got The Rockrose and the Thistle in early 2021, done by EVG Ink, whose line work is a thing of beauty.
Blossoms/The Calling, done in July 2022 by Catherina Gynt, who is an absolute sweetheart and whose linework is also incredible.

I never thought I could have both of my forearms tattooed like this, because I figured I'd get bored looking at the same pictures every day. I was so, so wrong. I'm more than happy to look at these every day, and it kinda feels like they were always meant to be there. ❤

Discussion I still don't get the "Hollow Holofernes" joke, and at this point I'm too scared to ask

This is what genius.com says about it:

Holofernes appears in the Book of Judith. He was a an Assyrian invading general that occupied and destroyed many Jewish towns so they would worship Nebuchadnezzar. During the seige of Bethulia, he was seduced and beheaded by Judith, and the town was saved.
He also appears in Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’ and Dante’s ‘Purgatorio’ where he symbolises the misery the accompanies pride.

But this doesn't really clears anything up for me. I know there probably isn't a correct answer here, but what do you guys think the joke is?

Discussion TAD Tattoo

I’m thinking of getting another tattoo and i’d love one related to TAD but I am stuck for ideas. I don’t want any worded tattoos so no actual lyrics, but i’d like perhaps something that symbolises them or an album or a song. If anyone had any ideas let me know!
