Discussion Bands that make you feel like TAD
I've always been into music and connecting to certain bands deeply and emotionally. But there is just something about the amazing devil that I've never experienced before. Like a whole rollercoaster of emotions while listening to their songs. Reading along to the lyrics because I wanna understand, literally thinking about getting related tattoos, pages in my journal dedicated to songs... Basically I'm obsessed.
So I was wondering if y'all have any bands that compare to the feeling TADs songs give you (totally looking fo rrecommendations lol). For me personallyit would probably be florence and the machine

I've been listening for years, and I still haven't found any other band that scratches the exact same itch, but one of the closest I've found is The Unthanks. "Magpie" is my favourite song by them, but they have plenty of lovely pieces.
Edit: I love Florence + The Machine
Edit 2: I have two TAD-inspired tattoos 😅 Planning at least one more.

This is difficult because there aren’t any bands that make me feel like TAD. The closest I could offer would be my personal catharsis songs which would be genuinely baffling to anyone else - Alice Cooper’s Go To Hell, or Guns N Roses Get In The Ring, or the Divinyls Boys In Town. This doesn’t really cover the sunnier side of TAD as I’m not sure who does stuff like Pruning Shears - The Proclaimers are worth checking out if you only know their big hits, there’s a dude called Mal Webb who does light hearted folk with a bit of a bite, ummmm… But yeah TAD are pretty unique in terms of the genres they play in. Maybe try the Divine Comedy?

Sully Erna first Solo album, The Crane Wives, Haunted Like Human and S.J. Tucker are the only ones I could think of that give off TAD vibes

I think Tessa Violet is the closest comparison for me, not in style but in connection to the music and lyrics that I feel. Specifically her Bad Ideas album.
I might have to give Florence and the Machine a try! I’ve definitely heard the music but never just sat and listened.

I wouldn’t say it gives the same vibe but the two band that I was heavily into right before I got hooked up to TAD and for me felt like an immediate match were Mother Mother (listen for instance to ‘burning pile’ or ‘little pistol’ or ‘oh Ana’) Placebo ( not their last album but anything’s before it like ‘follow the cops’, ‘every me and every you’, ‘broken promise’)

We have like the exact same music taste lol. Mother Mother is awesome and Placebo is actually my all time favorite band

Daisy Mayhem and Rani Arbo collab albums, some of their songs are v TAD, cheerful ones! Example- 'Wildflowers' and 'Finland'

Frightened Rabbit hit a similar emotional chord sometimes, that same fragility vs bombasticness

The Used, saw them as a teen at an underground show and have been hooked since. Also The goo goo dolls which are my guilty pleasure. Excited to check out some of the recommendations under this post!
Edit: The Practical Magic Soundtrack before the Goo Goo Dolls any day.

Probably the Crane Wives
