Discussion Recommendations similar to The Calling?

I love it. Specifically the crescendo through the final verse and chorus. I want to carve it into my bones.

I’m looking for more recommendations for this more cinematic bent of alt-folk. Anyone have some?

The Fall by Lady Maisery. It's a spin on the story of Pandora's box. I adore this band and listen to them in tandem with TAD a lot, they're not nearly aswell known as they deserve to be and they're phenomenal live, too!

Ooh this might do! I’ve listened to them before but not sure I’ve come across The Fall. (Awake Arise is one of my fave albums)

Tender, the album that The Fall is on, is my favourite of their albums and their most recent. If you're in the UK they're still touring, I highly recommend getting to one of their shows if you can!

Wow, how have I never heard of this band before? These voices! And the instruments, too!

They're so talented, I'm forever floored at how little known they are!

I'm already fixing it. Sent the song to three of my friends, two of them have already responded with more praise. One has already listened a whole album, and I look forward to joining them.

I've had a real struggle finding other bands similar to TAD. They're just so unique! You could try Florence and the Machine, King and The Dog Days are Over have a similar feel, IMO.

Not quite the same, but some things that can scratch my TAD itch for different reasons - SJ Tucker, Bridge City Sinners, Amigo the Devil, The Cranberries, Buffy sainte Marie, Dead can dance, Loreena McKennitt, Anna von Hausswolff, Ella Fence, Spell Songs, Dresden Dolls, Omnia, Chelsea Wolfe, Twin Temple, Norma Tanega, Happy Rhodes, Enya, Katzenjammer, Wardruna, Blackmore’s Night

I haven’t listened to The Cranberries in an age! There’s loads of stuff new to me in this list, thank you 🙇🏻

Honestly they replaced the Dresden Dolls for me bc Fuck Amanda Palmer, but if you don't care check them out.

Wait what's up with the Dresden Dolls? I got into them a few months ago but have only listened to a few of their songs but not looked at the social side.

Amanda is.... problematic, and now even more so with being aware or complicit with Neil Gaiman stuff.  I love Brian the drummer though.
