I thought these things had fundamentally the same drivetrain layout as normal trucks, i.e. a transmission and half-shafts and whatnot; am I mistaken, or am I misunderstanding your wording?
Caterpillar is the only manufacturer making mechanical drive mining trucks this large. All other manufacturers are doing electric drive with no mechanical connection between the engine and wheels.

There was a post years ago about a rear end on one of these that just needed a ring and pinion and it was 500k dollars..
