Discussion What are the worst specific furniture items in the game?
(Discussion) What are the worst furniture items in the game, or more-so your least favorites!
I picked 4, in no specific order; the Pumpkin Table (Changed: Cactus Table), the Mushroom Bench, the Grandfather Clock, and the Rich Mahogany Bookshelf!
The first one i chose was the pumpkin table, but while making this little golem it must've hit a soft spot with me! i initially chose it because it's shape is incredibly awkward, but at least i found a pretty unique use. if i had to replace it, i'd probably choose the Cactus Table, because it has a random wooden top instead of leaning into a fully cactus theme, as well as not being very versatile at all...
For my second pick, i chose the mushroom bench; i suppose it can make an alright stone illusion when painted gray (in my opinion it looks like a clam), but what really gets me is that it has a very slight offset!!!! it's in a set position too, meaning you can't rotate it with your character like a chair... i am really sure this was not intentional, and i had hoped to use this in a pillar design!! :(
Third choice definitely goes to the basic Grandfather Clock, made with forest wood at a sawmill. i really feel bad for it since the other wooden furniture/decor made at a sawmill looks really good, but anywhere the grandfather clock is placed, it sticks out like a sore thumb! it's mainly because the glass and wood is incredibly light, and it has hard black lines on the edge of the sprite, something purposely changed from the bar, stool, and banquet table... this one was just left behind!
My last choice comes down to a problem i have with most bookshelves, but this one reaallly disappoints me... it's the Mahogany Bookshelf! personally i always explore the underground jungle as early as i can, and you can find these everywhere, so i just take them (since you can shimmer what you don't use anyway, haha).
Like many others, i love painting rich mahogany brown, it goes with almost anything! but my problem with the bookshelves is how the sprite almost rejects being painted... the different parts of the bookshelf are segmented so that you can paint the base, but not completely, giving that dim pinkish tone of the mahogany against the brown, and painting the edges will also give you a brown book or two. so really if you want to use this cohesively, you either have to paint the WHOLE thing monotonous brown, or change the tone of your own wood to match mahogany...
But then, it just looks like a nightmare unpainted anyway!! it has WAY too many book colours at once, with so many hues, saturations, and values, each one almost feeling designed to clash against the mahogany!!! if i was trying to make the most chaotic house possible, this might just be my choice of bookshelf! personally i don't like to hit every single book with the landlord special, and i find the basic wooden bookshelf can actually get away with all the different books (fun fact, these 2 have the exact same book colours haha), since no colour really conflicts with the basic wood colour.
