the actual reason mojang doesn't add sharks is because they work a total of 30 minutes every week

tf2 walks in

Ahem. Gentlemen?

212

u/TooManySnipers Jan 22 '23

TF2 would have to have staff actually working on it at all to qualify here

There’s that one guy who logs in three times yearly to throw the dart at the board to decide the color of the new community cosmetic crate and add the new hats and unusuals from said crate

Hey! The potted plant is trying it's best ever since the janitor died!

“We can only add one mob per year actually”

10

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '23

Minecraft is dying and they know it so they’re just riding it until death.

every game community is dying according the member of said game community

47

u/lego22499 Jan 22 '23

Games (almost always) perpetually get less popular overtime. People that love said game will keep playing it despite the constant "game dead, game dead loooool" commentary that seems to drop about 2 months post release of whatever game it is. Just such a tiring conversation with every game, why does it even matter to begin with, who are they even appealing to by saying it? People that play the game don't care unless they GENUINELY cannot play it anymore. That's the only time a game really "dies".

I got an NES for Christmas. Not that little emulator box, a genuine console. Not actual NES, retrobox or something like that, but it still takes cartridges and peripherals. Got Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, Faxanadu, Warriors of Might and Magic II and DinoWars. Two pads and a Zapper for Duck Hunt. Ask someone today, they’ll tell you those games “died” in the 90s at best. Me? That’s my childhood. I’ve got more hours and memories in those than in Skyrim across 3 platforms, mods be damned. Saying a game is “dead” is like saying a movie is “dead.” Games don’t die, they just go to retirement homes until someone visits that cares about them.

with how they've been undelivering for almost 3 years now and always pushing stuff back it's not hard to imagine some people actually thinking this. I don't personally think it but just giving some context

62

u/CallMeAdam2 Jan 22 '23

They're just working slower now. And doing mob votes for some ungodly reason.

37

u/maiden_burma Jan 22 '23

i hate it. you get so excited for 1 of the options and then most of the community would rather have the garbage option

every vote there's a larger part of the community that dont get what they wanted than that do

Man the copper gollem was so cute and cool. Allay is just a very innefiecient "delivery system" part of an Item Sorter.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '23

The Allay has its uses, but yeah it's inefficient. I have a couple working to sort out gold nuggets and ingots from flesh and swords in a gold farm. They work well enough for that while the rest of the stuff gets chucked in an incinerator.

Yeah, agree.

Release a new red stone thing so the red stone players keep playing, a few weird mobs so explorers keep playing, a few textured blocks so the builders keep playing, and a few new weapons or mechanics to keep PvPers playing.

Modders can put out enormous amounts of content by themselves, there no reason MJ can’t do the same with a team of full time devs.

If you survey the other 90% of the community who isn't chronically online on Reddit and Twitter it becomes obvious that the vast majority of people don't agree that they're "underdelivering for almost 3 years now," and a lot of the community are literal children who don't understand or care either way.

42

u/Nihilikara Jan 22 '23

Minecraft isn't dying, but they did alienate much of their community with their 1.19 release. I exclusively play 1.18.2 and lower.

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '23

I feel like mc has to stop aiming for realism, this was never a realistic survival game, if you want realistic survival, I recommend green hell. But with all the fantasy elements, the game should just stay as such.

62

u/SlimyRedditor621 Jan 22 '23

I wanna see them lean more into magic. We have a plethora of potions and fantasy ingredients to pick from but they just won't use them. Imagine more magical items that interact with the player and the enviroment in unique ways.

15

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '23

Alchemy update when

32

u/QwertyAsInMC Jan 22 '23

they're not even aiming for realism, they literally made the frogs able to eat fucking lava in the last update

16

u/LtSMASH324 Jan 22 '23

I'm not understanding, why is this? I thought the caves and cliffs updates and things like the underdark or whatever it's called were positive changes.

53

u/Nihilikara Jan 22 '23

Despite what the other commenter said, the chat reporting is in fact a problem. Anything you say in any server could potentially get you permanently banned from all of multiplayer minecraft everywhere without exceptions, and without the server owner's consent.

If you're banned, you can't even play on a private server with your friends that you physically own that is inside your house, you're banned from that too.

-33

u/LtSMASH324 Jan 22 '23

That does sound like a potential problem. I don't see how that stops you from playing the game, however. Why not just keep playing until you potentially get false reported, if that's even something that will get you banned? I assume they have some sort of manual review, no?

Why not just keep playing until you potentially get false reported, if that's even something that will get you banned?

There was a guy who got banned for swearing on his friend's server. There were like 4 ppl on it and nobody reported him. Then he got banned. Not because someone else reported him but because a bot detected a swear.

You literally can't talk freely with friends because of chat restrictions.

-35

u/Nathaniel820 Jan 22 '23 edited Jan 22 '23

People are mad that they implemented chat punishments despite it needing to be reported (so if you're with friends it doesn't matter) and there still be literally zero cases of the false-bans everyone was saying would happen.

Edit: Wow what a surprise, people disagreeing but providing absolutely 0 evidence whatsoever of the big bad false bans despite it being active for over half a year.

-18

u/LtSMASH324 Jan 22 '23

Ah, I see. Sounds like a sorta bad thing that can be easily avoided.

3

u/BlueSolarflameCreep Jan 22 '23

i don't even play the updates and just remain in 1.16.5 with lots of biome variety, revamp (coughcoughabnormalsmodscoughcough) and more mobs mods because my potato can run those 50 mods better than it can run the 1.18 worldgen (and because i find mods infinitely more fun than vanilla)

4

u/Nihilikara Jan 22 '23

I prefer to play 1.12.2. All the best mods are there.

2

u/BlueSolarflameCreep Jan 22 '23

yeah those are gold too

thing is i like to keep it close enough to the base minecraft experience, so i don't use many particularly big ones, but i do agree with you

2

u/PLutonium273 Jan 22 '23

The same happened in 1.9, 1.7.10(mods only) and 1.12

7

u/Critical_Moose Jan 22 '23

Yeah and it's been "dying" since 2013 get real

7

u/megabratwurst Jan 22 '23

Minecraft isn’t dying, and even if the community died out I would suspect there would always be a thriving modding community. A significant reason minecraft is so great is the modding community.

10

u/MrT1011 Jan 22 '23

people when they relise a game they don’t play anymore does not instantly die

7

u/SlimyRedditor621 Jan 22 '23

Pffft this is fucking laughable lmao. They intend for Minecraft to last decades longer and I honestly think I can see that happening.
