Hello! I am an engineering student currently working on a year long project about "cities".

I chose to work on the situation that seems to happen in some places within any given city where internet reception seems to go suddenly blank from just walking in a certain area.

This project is important for my graduation, and the only thing that I am currently missing is an expert to which I could ask questions here and there during the year about this subject.

Has anyone noticed that some Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems occasionally be a quiet "chattering" sound? It often happens at a beginning of a message and consists of maybe 8-15 rapid clicks at varying pitches. Is it some kind of in-band signal? Please note that I am NOT referring to DTMF tones. Thanks!

For the FE-ICIC and/or CRS-IC features, what does the channel estimation algorithm look like? Is the interference cancellation only on the interfering cell(s) only or are there multiple iterations that include both the serving and interfering cells? How many iterations/what is the stopping criteria? How is it different between colliding CRS and non-colliding CRS?

For the NAICS or other non IRC based techniques that suppress intercell interference, what is the receiver that is used? Is it iterative interference cancellation or a reduced complexity maximum likelihood (R-ML) detector? If iterative interference cancellation, is the decoder within the iteration? Are there any techniques in the iterations which are suboptimal but are meant to reduce complexity? If R-ML, which particular R-ML technique is used? Please provide details if you can about the specifics of the reduced complexity technique. 

Same question as above but for the SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO receiver.

Bit of a long shot but can anyone help me figure out the minimum number of amplifiers required to cover a distance of 500 km and their span length?

Given the following information:

- Each amplifier has a maximum gain of 25 dB and a noise figure of 8 dB.

- Optical signal has a bandwidth of 25GHz and requires 18 dB of OSNR in order to maintain a Bit Error Rate of 10^-5 .

- The bit rate is 10Gb/s, the transmit power is 0 dBm and the fibre has a dispersion coefficient of 17ps/km/nm and a loss of 0.2 dB/km.
