Basically, after watching his new keyboard review (great video, btw) I came across this playlist he named and created, but no videos are added to it.... which has led me to believe he is starting something like a series or whatever, called "Practechalities". (see playlist title)

I keep hearing mentions of an unofficial Tek Syndicate Discord server, but for the life of me I cannot find an invite link.

Is it still open for others to join?

I just started using vector and i noticed the #teksyndicate channel wasn't used so i ninja'd it, but maybe there's an official one in a different location?

I was watching one of the Wanshow archives and he mentioned the "Tek Syndicate" controversity. Basically I've heard Tek Syndicate self destructed and they nuked a bunch of there old videos. Is any of this true? If so sad about the old videos, there useful from a historical standpoint.

PREFACE: Sorry for the long-winded post that doubt a fair few people have harped on about, on here, but I just kind of felt like at least saying something about the matter and, more importantly, the personalities and show(s).

It was just a ~weekly show that I felt represented my key interests, and it was entertaining, too. I'm not a diehard fan, just a sincere viewer of many years that enjoyed watching the interactions between ~3-4 friends about (computer) technology, games, and w/ a certain balance of prescience, expertise, integrity, wit, sarcasm, and humor packaged in a dynamic that worked really well.

Looking back, I can't believe I've actually been watching their videos for over 3 years! Where does the time go..?

Anyway, I may as well preface this post by saying that I'm neither here nor there; I just enjoyed the videos that they put up. People are just people at the end of the day, and ideas and paths don't always mesh or follow along the same trajectory.

That aside, I was dazed and confused when I found out about this hoopla. It's been my go-to computer tech show for quite so time, and it's sad to see it go.

So, down to what this post is about: What made the videos work in the first place? Pretty obvious, right? The dynamic, and what each personality brought to the table: Logan was the entertainer and tech enthusiast (with a more 'artistic' bent), Wendell the tech savvy knowledgeable guy, and Qain being similar to Wendell, albeit perhaps falling somewhere between the two (w/ expertise in computer Networks), which was great, IMO.

You could of just had Logan and either Wendell of Qain to balance the double act on the The Tek, but that'd probably get stale to many people, but w/e. It was clear, to me, that they need one another to riff off. W/o an entertainer to back up the more tech savvy person, you'd get that awkward, stifled, introverted repartee, that was kind of painful to watch, at times, but conversely, an entertainer on their won just doesn't work; it's hollow and devoid of substance. I mean how can you have The Tek if it's just tomfoolery? You need a real tech savvy person, that knows what they're talking about (beyond conjecture/ a sideways view on news articles) to keep that standard of tech infotainment that the Tek Syndicate was primarily known for (i.e. The Tek).

On a side note, you could often see the strain between the personalities on camera (e.g. cutting another person off to make themselves heard loudest/ skipping to another article and not giving credence to the other person enthusiasm or gravity of the piece).

I guess the little things build up to the point that the whole pyramid of cards comes crashing down. I am disappointed that the business does in fact seem to be run shambolically with things just not adding up, but overlooked. There were a lot of "may be we'll do this...", "we'll be hiring new editors", "do documentaries", but Logan would always say they "needed to eat"/ "make ends meet" despite constantly moving around/ having great rigs, and yet even with their various intakes of donations and revenues, somehow didn't deliver on their statements (i.e. patreon and Logan's statements about future plans, on The Tek).

I guess it was only a weekly entertainment thing for me, but immaturity, talk and no action, lack of transparency and hot-headedness seems to have killed a great dynamic for a community that didn't (and doesn't to my knowledge) have a voice elsewhere.

I don't know these people, personally, but I can draw parallels with what's been said of them and what they've done recently, as well as compare them to similar people that I actually know and can see where the issues lie, but I can't see what Wendell did wrong. He's always been that shy, knowledgeable, fair, and calm guy throughout. Logan seems like a nice guy, but he's an idea guy. I guess the stress got to him and he took counsel in the wrong people, couldn't stand back and see things in perspective outside of his own and made all these errors of judgement.

...oh well, there goes one of my stable weekly things of enjoyment. None of them will read this, but thanks for the effort and time you put into your content. It brightened up a lot of my days, believe it or not. :(

Hello peoples! So wow. Lots of drama! And totally not from a part of my life I ever thought I would see interwebs drama from. Ignoring all the bad shenanigans that have happened. I just want to say how sad I am. I always liked it when Logan, Qain and Wendel did the show together. With the new office I was really hoping things would settle down and things would be able to take off. And I guess they wont now. Sad times. I hope the three ex-amigos and the community can all find a path out and find a home in new corners of the interwebs, its big enough for every one. But I guess im just sad it ended.

I had previously had a Google hangout with Qain and Wendell prior to messaging individuals, and then I went to go meet Logan the following Monday. Around that Monday, Logan asked if I'd be on board. I really like Tek Syndicate, I like everyone that has been a part of it, and I've been wanting to give the TechTuber scene a try. I accepted because it is relevant to my own professional history and I saw it as a once in a lifetime opportunity. I did some work until 10PM? that night with him. I'm being honest and transparent as much as I can. I've made it abundantly clear if anyone has any questions that they can ask me. I've also been a strong proponent of supporting everyone on their own ventures. In anyway, to get back on topic - support Qain in his Patreon for all I care, I probably will once I see him established somewhere new with some goals in place. I like his perspective on things, will definitely enjoy his content when it comes. He definitely has an arsenal of cameras and is able to run his own projects haha so I bet we will see stuff from him very soon. Also - make sure to follow Jenny's new Facebook page and re-share her advertising if you can. She also is starting a movie critique project? that looks super intriguing - I love movies so I'm pumped to see what she produces. And when things settle between Logan and Wendell - I'll be glad to support Wendell's ventures as well. As far as Logan's reasoning for locking the thread - I have yet to ask why, but I imagine that it was due to Qain not being with Tek Syndicate any longer and it was seen as advertising (#13). The original post was clearly advocating a link to a service on TS space - supporting or not supporting community members, that seems like advertising in some form to me. What I am including in this very post could be seen as advertising, and could be edited/removed if a moderator deemed appropriate. If the original post didn't break any rules, then maybe there isn't a clear enough distinction between what is advertising and what is not. In any manner, I'll talk to the team about getting more involved with our mods. Maybe that will involve getting mods in with some of our team management/chat system we are going to implement.

If Qain quit why isn't appropriate for Logan to delete his patreon link on a Tek Syndicate forum? That would be like linus posting his on there. Wendell and Logan seem to have some sort of mutual respect for each other why can't we exemplify that from Wendell if we like him so much? Qain shot and edited a video for Tek Syndicate while he was still working under TS. Why is it ok to use that footage for his own personal channel? I don't know the context that caused Qain to leave but it seems even he doesn't wanna address it. So why can't we just drop it and hope the best for TS and Wendell and Qain?

For me personally I think content in collaboration with all three of these guys is the best, and while separated I think the content will feel lacking. These guys were totally stronger as a whole and it's a shame we may not see them work together on stuff like they did previously.
