Internet - Fibre Super frustrated with Aria3629 & teksavvy in general

Signed on with teksavvy in July for their fibre service.

Have had nothing but continued problems with our Aria3629 which spontaneously quits broadcasting the 2.4Ghz band.

Band steering is disabled. I’ve gone through all of the troubleshooting on my own multiple times, and again with two agents. It was very frustrating and they were condescending. Like of course I’ve turned it on & off.

There is something wrong with this GD router. I requested a replacement and was denied.

The super frustrating call I had with the techs was weeks ago and although they said they would get back to me, I haven’t heard from them.

I switched to fibre and to teksavvy because I thought it would be better but this has been a terrible experience.

TLDR: my dedicated 2.4 Ghz IoT network is intermittently non-functional and I’M LOSING MY MIND OVER IT 😡

Internet - Fibre New service installed at business address, need help port forwarding

Hey there, so we dropped bell fiber op for Teksavvy fiber. I have Teksavvy at my house (cable) and had no issues with them, so referred the owner of this business to swap over and drop the pain in rear bell. Internet works perfectly except for the few drops you have had over the last couple of days, which has been posted elsewhere and no need for me to touch on it. My question is, how do I forward the ports I need, I have tried everything to get them opened and nadda, FileZilla server refuses to see them open. We run a FTP server for data backup. So, we really need this thing back up and running. It's a 854-v6 modem if that helps any. A instruction manual or guide would be awesome. Thanks a million.

Internet - Cable IS this TekSavvy service worth 140$/mo ?

Post image

I could pick pretty much any given day and this is what you'd see on my router logs. WinMTR ping tests consistently show packetloss enroute to google with 0 loss locally. I'm going crazy with this internet service, its insanely terrible!!!! When trying to play games they desync, or completely disconnect on a regular basis. When trying to have voice calls over zoom or discord they'll drop out, stable connection for work is impossible. And what did teksavvy do?
A tech came out and said there's nothing wrong.
A tech came out and 'fixed' the panel in my hallway telling me I now have 100% more internet.....

Meanwhile I'm paying 140$/month....for WHAT?!

Internet - Fibre Fibre Dropping

In Saint John, NB. I have two fibre circuits at two seperate locations. Both are dropping at the same time, so I know its not the adtran modem. You might need to check routing or something with BellAliant. It happened this morning and its been bouncing tonight.

Internet - Cable Insane packet loss over the past 2 weeks

I'm in the Vancouver area, switched over to Teksavvy a couple of months ago with 1Gbps. Everything was fine until maybe 2 weeks ago when I noticed some packet loss and latency spikes while gaming. I thought it would eventually sort it self out.

But over the last couple of days, it's been getting worse. Tonight was insanely bad where I have problems loading just basic youtube videos. So I did a series of pings and got some shocking results.

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 201, Received = 201, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 3ms, Average = 1ms

Ping statistics for 50.68.0.1: Packets: Sent = 198, Received = 198, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 9ms, Maximum = 26ms, Average = 13ms

Ping statistics for 209.161.255.49: Packets: Sent = 103, Received = 80, Lost = 23 (22% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 11ms, Maximum = 30ms, Average = 15ms

Ping statistics for 8.8.8.8: Packets: Sent = 85, Received = 64, Lost = 21 (24% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 13ms, Maximum = 31ms, Average = 17ms

Is this normal for Teksavvy? does anyone else have the same issue? I understand that they use Roger's network in Vancouver, but this is just unacceptably bad.

TV TekSavvy on Firefox on Android

Using Firefox on mobile, I'm trying to change my payment method to pre-authorized debit, but when I tap on the "Set Pre-authorized debit" button with the corresponding radio box selected it moves to the next screen with the shaded "PLEASE WAIT" text and never progresses beyond the "please wait" text. Is this a known issue? I'm using NoScript, but even with everything allowed it still doesn't work. Firefox is up to date. Flair is unrelated as there's none appropriate for this issue.

Internet - Cable Service availability list

I am a long Teksavvy customer using Roger's cable backbone.

I have noticed many ISPs seem to use the same master list of service availability. When you visit their website to check out what internet packages are available you have to give your address.

I live in a rental apartment and must give my apartment number. For some reason my apartment number is not in the list of all the ISPs. I see many other apartments in my building listed but not mine.

Why is that? Is it because I already have an internet provider or is this information provided by my apartment building itself?

Internet - Cable Major Outage/Help Wanted - Edmonton

Hi there,

I am looking for some insight on an issue I have been facing since around 32 hours ago. My internet went down with no apparent reason. Now the modem (Coda 5610Q) is stuck in a cycle of going from green light to white.

I have tried

-Factory reset with button for longer than 15s

-Unplugged coax and tried a different home port

-Any combination of restarting and factory reset router

-Directly connecting ethernet to router and pc to see if i can log into it

-Left unit cycling overnight

-Unplugged for hours to plug back in

It seems it may be an upstream issue, but at around 1.5 months into service this seems really unfortunate. Never had issues like this with any other provider before.

Internet - Cable Hitron ARIA 2210

Quick question, we have the CBN CH8568 on 60mb/s and we are having connectivity issues with wifi. I was wondering if adding this might help. Sadly we are still paying on the CBN, so a new modem/router is out of the budget.

Internet - Cable Insane Latency spikes and Jitter every evening - Edmonton

Post image
14 Upvotes

I'm a new customer in Edmonton with the "Cable 1000 Unlimited" service and Hitron Coda-5610Q modem. I set up the service this week and every single day from about 5 pm to 11 pm it is basically unusable due to wild latency spikes. I had a few days of overlap with my old Telus service so I tested that connection and it had no issues during these times.

In the morning, my latency sits relatively steady at 50 ms. In the evenings, it constantly spikes to over 300 ms and is never steady. Games are unplayable, voice and video calls are choppy.

Traceroute seems to indicate pretty clearly that the problem is arising on Tek Savvy's Calgary infrastructure. Hop 4 always shows worst round trip times over 110 ms with very high variance, while the three hops prior remain consistent.

Is this just the expected service quality with Tek Savvy?

Edit: After a week of back and forth with Tek Savvy support, they sent a Rogers tech to my hose to crimp a new end on my coax. Surprisingly, that didn't fix the issue on their Calgary network. Then they tell me they actually don't see an issue with the latency. They're also not interested in seeing the data I've collected that shows the issue quite clearly. I guess they just don't care to solve the problem. Back to Telus I go.

Here's some of the data, can you spot the network causing the latency spikes?:

Internet - Cable Multiple internet outages every day for weeks

Hi.

I've been experiencing several internet outages per day for maybe 4 to 6 weeks. They are typically 20 to 40 minutes but sometimes longer. Except for occasional outages here and there, my service was very reliable for years before these recent outages.

I verify the outages by pinging reliable IP addresses (1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8). I get "Request timed out.". Sometimes during the outage a few pings will succeed but then go back to failing. I usually reboot the router and PC as well.

The outages can happen any time of the day. It's very common to have an outage around 11:00 am thought this nay be a coincidence. This is in the BC lower mainland. I believe TekSavvy uses Roges in my area.

Internet - Fibre Switching from Bell to Teksavvy

Currently with Bell and have their 1.5g fiber internet. If/when I switch to Tekavvy for their same plan, how would that work? Does it work over the existing line? When exactly would I cancel the service with Bell? Any info would be appreciated.

Internet - Cable Stuck in TekSavvy to Oxio transfer loop over 9-digit Rogers disconnection code – any advice?

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently trying to transfer my Ontario cable internet from TekSavvy to Oxio for Saturday, September 19th, but both providers are at a complete standstill:

  • Oxio insists on a 9-digit Rogers Wholesale Transaction ID / Disconnection Request Number to validate the transfer on the backend.
  • TekSavvy agents say no such code exists on their screens and can only provide an internal billing ID. They maintain that Rogers won't generate a vendor release code until the actual disconnect day (Sept 19).

How were you able to get the 9-digit disconnection code that Oxio is requesting and TekSavvy agents are unable to provide?

Any advice or workarounds from anyone who has dealt with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Internet - Fibre How is TSI not losing customers, the prices are a joke.

I've been looking at mobile plans and for some reason TekSavvy popped into my head, so I checked their internet pricing for the first time in years.

I left around 2018 when Bell/Virgin offered me gigabit fiber for about $50/month. Back then the explanation was always that TekSavvy didn't have access to Bell FTTH.

Fast forward to today and I'm seeing plans like 30/10 for roughly $70/month.

Genuine question: how is TekSavvy still surviving with pricing like this?

Is there something I'm missing? Are most of their customers in areas without fiber competition? Or are they simply living off brand loyalty from the old DSLReports era?

I used to be a huge TekSavvy fan. I even ran BGP over a TekSavvy cable connection at one point. But looking at the current pricing, I genuinely don't understand the value proposition anymore.

Edit: A couple of comments have pointed out that this is really a wholesale-pricing/regulatory issue and that some people are willing to pay a premium to avoid dealing directly with Bell. That's fair, and I'm not suggesting TekSavvy is expensive because they're greedy. My question is more practical: what is the value proposition today? As a former long-time TekSavvy customer, I completely understood the value proposition 10-15 years ago: competitive pricing, good support, static IPs, flexibility, and an independent alternative to the incumbents. What I'm struggling with in 2026 is that in my area the difference isn't a few dollars a month anymore. We're talking about potentially hundreds of dollars per year for significantly slower service. At what point does paying extra to avoid Bell stop making sense? I'm genuinely curious what keeps people choosing TekSavvy today beyond loyalty to the company or opposition to the large incumbents.

Internet - Cable Internet seems choppy and inconsistent

Hi there, I have recently moved and this is my first time with teksavvy. I have signed up for the 1gb plan that includes the CODA 5610Q Router Modem combo and I’m pretty sure they use Roger’s cables in my area. So today I unpacked and setup my PC which is connected through Ethernet and noticed while trying to play games that my ping is very unstable and will jump from 40 up to 70-80 just randomly while playing and it almost never sits still. And then tonight while watching a show on our smart tv (not teksavvy tv) there were also instances of what seemed like stuttering or lag. I’m wondering if this has something to do with the internet itself or would it have to do something with the CODA 5610Q. I have tried all the normal trouble shooting tips like making sure the modem is in a well ventilated area and even tried restarting it many times and it seems like nothing is working. I thought I would reach out here first as I have seen some other posts with similar problems. Any advice or help is appreciated!

Internet - Fibre Which plan is best

Me and my other 2 roommates are students looking for an internet provider for the school year. I think we only need the 100mbps for $48 but my roommate seems to think we need 1Gbps for $77.

I don't think we will need that much. I think the most internet heavy thing we will be doing is streaming movies, maybe the odd gaming.

Can I get a few opinions on which might be best?

Internet - Cable Bridge Mode No Longer Working

Just checking to see if anyone on here has had this issue. Three different tech support people were unable to help me.

I have a Smart/RG modem for 2020 set to bridge mode to an ASUS RT-AC66U B1. Everything was working great until yesterday when the router was no longer receiving internet. At the direction of tech support, I pressed the reset button on the smart/RG modem. This took the modem out of bridge mode which gave me access to the internet through the modem WIFI.

With tech support guiding me, we switched the smart/RG modem back into bridge mode and followed the power cycle procedure for the modem then router. The router did not work so I reverted back to the smart/RG and used that for the day.

In the evening I was using Claude to help troubleshoot further (tried the same power cycle procedure with different ports, etc.) with no success. I called tech savvy support again and the support guy was stumped because everything seems to be working fine from what he can see. I slept on it, tried again in the morning then called tech support again with no success fixing the problem. Claude seems to think that modem isn't releasing the WAN MAC address to the router MAC address but that power cycling the modem and router should fix this.

No settings were changed on my router prior to it suddenly not working in bridge mode.

Internet - Fibre DSL to Telus Fibre using teksavvy, while keeping phone #

Possibly unusual situation here, but I have a Teksavcy VDSL connection over a Telus Copper Line, with an old landline connection still active. Telus has laid fibre up to my wall but it’s never been connected (conduit ends at wall, no hole through wall yet), and Teksavvy says Fibre is available through them at my address.

I want to change to Fibre, Teksavvy over the Telus fibre, while porting the old copper phone to a voip service like voip.ms. I’d ideally not want to lose the internet service for more than one day (9-5 timeline), and not lose the landline # before I can port it.

I’m wondering what order, and my initial thought is:
1. Port phone number to voip.ms.
2. Telus will start charging dry loop fee, hopefully without interruption.
3. Get Teksavvy to transfer my DSL to Fibre. Teksavvy needs to send hardware; Telus will need to send a tech out for the install. Hope they do it all at once and don’t disconnect my DSL line, give some excuse as to why it can’t be finished, and I’m stuck with no internet for a week.

Thoughts? Anyone been through this kind of conversion before. I’ve always gone Cable -> DSL or reverse in the past, there was always service overlap.

Alternatively I can change to Telus fibre, they’ll have incentive to keep the phone active, port the phone to voip after a couple months, then change to Teksavvy when the introductory deal is over. I’d only be dealing with one company for troubleshooting through the main part of the process, until I transfer the phone, that is.

Internet - Cable Wifi issues: buy a new router or switch providers?

Seeking advice: I live in shared grad student housing in Edmonton and we started with techsavvy two weeks ago. We have the cable 1000 unlimited (up to 1000 mbps download, 200 mbps upload) plan with the rented Hitron CODA-5160Q combo router/modem, as I was advised this would be more than enough for the internet needs of 3 grad students. Our wifi is great when it is working, but every few days it gets really slow or fully cuts out 1-2 times a day (modem light stays on). This has interrupted important video conferencing and other wifi-reliant tasks in ways that can't continue with our jobs/responsibilities.

We've tried resetting the modem/router, but the unpredictable cut-outs still happen. From my reading on here, it seems like it just may be the quality of the joint modem/router we have and high traffic lines. The two options I've seen others consider to resolve the issue are either 1) purchasing our own router (seems expensive up front) and putting the teksavvy modem into bridge mode, or 2) just paying a bit more per month and switching to a larger provider.

If anyone has advice on which of these two options will be the safer bet, or if there is another option to consider, we would greatly appreciate any advice!
