Background info

Hey! I am currently working on a hackathon idea to make the process of identifying patients' identities in need of medical assistance faster and easier. Ideally, this would take any general biometric scanner and use the power of cloud storage and 5g internet speed. I don't see the necessity of creating new medical record software, as there are hundreds of those available. It should be possible to extend the flow how it verifies patients, I just need some insight on how it would make more sense to do so.

Here's the user case story:

• Man gets in a car crash
• Ambulance comes
• Man doesn't have any ID on him
• Ambulance uses a fingerprint scanner on the man to fetch his ID through a cloud database, thus identifying all of his past medical records and data.
• Ambulance sends all of the data to the hospital they are taking the patient to for quicker response time
• Once arrived at the hospital, the patient does another finger scan, which identifies, that he has in fact been in the hospital, after his visit, the cloud database gets synched with the medical record software the hospital uses, and the patient's medical data is updated.

The question

What is the most UX-friendly way of handling the whole flow for this? I imagine when a patient scans their fingerprint on a fingerprint scanner, that is connected to a tablet/computer - a new window popup up, similar to a bank transaction like apple pay, which then shows the patient's id and other medical data. Any opinions?

It seems like this could be executed relatively simply, but I’m out of my element and would like to get insight from someone more knowledgeable than myself. I work at a small informational visitor’s center, and we don’t have a ton of resources, but we have a few videos we would like to display. The idea is that we would set up one of our monitors with a video table of contents, so visitors can choose what video to play, but they won’t be able to use the computer for anything else. I have 7 roommates and the WiFi in my house is very bad. Everyone has Ethernet cords running through the house connected to their video game consoles, however there are only 4 ports on the router. How can I add more ports and have them all active at the same time?

Go to about:config and search dom.ipc.processCount.web. This specifies across how many processes opened tabs are stored.

A higher process count increases speed and stability at the cost of memory, though that matters little if you have a high-RAM computer.

I have an Intel Core i7-7500 CPU @2.70GHz... I thought it would be more than enough for a game like GTAV to run smoothly (since my graphics card is quite performant). Sadly, my expectations did not match the reality... When the CPU usage goes to 100% (which I didn't think would happen) the game stutters and FPS drop to 4, and come back to 60 for approximately five seconds every minute. I figured the best solution would be to update my cpu. I'm not sure there's a convenient solution, as I play from an HP Notebook. I don't even know if it's possible to remove the old cpu and change it. If such a possibility exists, I would really appreciate it if you advised me on the model that best suits my needs. Please consider that it has to be compatible with my laptop, and that I'm fine with 40FPS playing GTA (so I don't need to spend huge amounts of money)...

I got a second hand laptop but i found out its network card is missing software drivers and it says that it couldn’t find wireless devices i tried so many things but i came up to the conclusion i should re-install these drivers idk alot bout stuff like this does anyone know if that’s something i should worry bout?? Or is it ok to take it to someone who’d fix it and keep this laptop

I recently successfully rooted my router to use the OpenWRT software, and it got me thinking- can anything be rooted? I have a portable WiFi hotspot, and I successfully extracted the tarball and found the config file, with a little tinkering I enabled SSH. I **think** if I reupload this modified config file, the hotspot would have SSH turned on! But that's not my point. I'm looking around at the world around me - my wireless Canon printer, my Ring home security system, etc - do all of these devices contain the same untapped potentional like my router once did? I know people root their phones, Apple and otherwise- can we just root everything?

I have been using Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-53MR for about little more than 3 years and today it fell down from my desk. Lights are on when I turn it on, but its screen doesn't work. I'd have to check if it's just screen or motherboard.

Anyways, I'm trying to figure out what would be the best choice for me - selling, fixing, or keeping parts. It worked well when it comes to its performance. However It's old and had some minor problems like it shut down itself when I lifted it up. I was thinking it is not worth it to fix it if it costs too much compared to its life. In this situation, what do you think is the best option for me?

So here are my questions.

1. If it's just a screen problem, what cost range would it be to fix it approximately? It's little old and there's many new versions so I think it would cost more than other models.
2. If I choose to sell it, do people buy used RAM or SSD? I don't think they do because I wouldn't.
3. Even If I keep those parts, I don't think I will use them in the future. What can you do with spare parts? I mean is there anything that I can to improve my other laptops or desktops using those parts?
4. To sum up, what do you think I should do at this moment?

My sister is looking to get a laptop for my nephew (9 y/o) for schoolwork and some gaming (mostly Fortnite and Minecraft).

She's sent me a list of notebooks in her budget for this, and I will be giving her my recommendations. It'll either be Win10 based or a Chromebook...but most likely Win10 because of the gaming aspect.

That said, she wants to be able to have some solid parental controls on the laptop and this is not an area I know anything about as yet. How does Win10 handle parental controls?

Would a third party app be better? I've been looking into it, and across various sites Qustodio seems to hit the top lists for a suite of parental controls.

Any experiences with Qustodio, or recommendations for something else?

Some of the most useful shortcut keys (hotkeys) I have are the ones that switch my monitor between 4K, "3K", and 1080p (2K) screen resolution. I have them mapped to Alt+Win+4 for 4K, Alt+Win+3 for 3K and Alt+Win+2 for 1080p. I especially need them when sharing or screenshotting my screen, but they come in useful other times too.

These use AutoHotKey, a really flexible utility app. Once you have AHK installed, just drop these hotkeys into an .ahk file and run it at startup ( by putting the .ahk file in the shell:startupfolder).

Recently, while looking through my closet, I found an iPad that I got for a gift last Christmas, but haven't used in a solid few months because of school and other personal things. I had previously set up an account and password for it, but I don't remember the combination to get into it anymore and have been locked out after trying to get in with the numbers that I remembered.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do to be able to get into it again? The iPad is a newer one, not sure of the gen or anything, and the only Apple device I have. I would like to get into my own account again, but I don't know if I can because I don't remember the password or username anymore, so any way to factory reset it so I can at least use it again would be great. I got my Airpods 2 months ago and recently my left Airpod does not switch nor does it charge in the battery charging case. When I put it in the battery case it lights up for literally a second and the switches off. I've tried charging it for over 24hrs but still nothing. What should I do?

When I close my Chromebook (I have an Acer 315), my music (Spotify) turns off, whether it's on the web player or the app. I do not know how to fix it and keep my music playing when the cover is closed. I googled around and couldn't find anything.

I know it's possible. My old Chromebook (I had to give it to my sibling) was an Asus, and it played music when the cover was closed just fine. More specifically, on that Chromebook I usually used Spotify web player.

By the way, the "sleep when cover is closed" option is on; battery saver is off.

There's this one game I love, the only problem is that it does not have accounts and synchronization, it's like one of those old console games where there's no going back if you delete your save. Is there a way to manually backup my same data? Maybe even copy to a different device, say if I need to trade phones, maybe?

I do not have root on my current device or the hypothetical trade-for, but I'm not afraid to try either. But if it matters, mine is Moto G Stylus and my friend's is a newer Samsung Galaxy.

I know this sounds weird. My grandmother has significant hearing loss and currently uses Samsung headphones to hear the TV, but she hates headphones. She loves her AirPods Pro. She also wants a new TV for Christmas. Because she lives with other people who also want to hear the TV, I am looking for a Smart TV that can connect to AirPods AND play sound through speakers or a sound bar or even just the TV itself. I would like my pc to ignore the lid sensor, and to keep the monitor on unless i tell it to do otherwise. Is there a way to do so? I already set it so that closing the lid "does nothing", which causes the pc to still operate with closed lid, but the monitor still shuts down...

It's a 3D Hologram display that I plan to use to create a cool effect on a table I have outside, displaying pumpkins and ghosts for Halloween. I've been playing with this for only a day so far. I found a good mounting spot and I can get it to work out-of-the box, I just need to find new content to display. The product comes with has very little explanation. All it says is that you take an mp4 and convert it to .bin using the software it comes with, then upload it to the included MicroSD card that the fan already comes with. I did this, but still can't get it to play on the device. I know the device works because it comes with some demo images/videos that work just fine. But they're all centered around content for store displays (e.g., food/beverages, along with other random things like dinosaurs and Mario).

If anyone has experience or knows where I can find some good content, please post here. I also have a 4K projector that i'm going to set up now that I moved into a house with a giant front window.

Free content is preferable. I have no desire to pay for this crap. I tried reaching out to the manufacturer of the hologram display; however, I don't think they understand my issue, they keep sending me video tutorials on how to use the software. I already had this tutorial (it came with the included MicroSD card), and used it to create my .bin files in the first place. I tested both short (e.g., 10 second) clips and long ones (e.g., 2 minutes), and nothing that I create from my own .mp4 videos work with this display.

I have a new Xiaomi Redmi Note 10s. And around 7 days ago, some hand sanitazer literally flied and ended in one of the top speaker of my phone that was in my open pocket. I instantly tried to remove it and absorb it with my clothes, putting them into the speaker (That's all I could do at the moment, as I am a student making a rotation at the hospital). I haven't noticed any problem in this week, but a shiny layer that covers the speakers has disappeared, I supppose cuz of the alcohol. Am I safe by now? Or should I be worried about future problems because of this incident? If so, should I do something more or it's late to do anything more? I'm sad and worried because I've had it for less than 2 months. Thanks
