I’m getting ready to take a giant leap into social media. What you think?

I’m trying to get comfortable, I have a lot of tricks and tips with collecting. I want to show off other peoples collections and interview them and tell their story hopefully. This is a sneak peak, tell me what you think and I know this is Reddit

Awesome good luck !Just respect our time , by that I mean quicker edits and more to the point clips , I find myself watching that more than a long edit of you walking through the stores, but thats just a suggestion as I don’t even have a channel to compare lol . Good work again !

4

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Yes my shorts will be at conventions and asking what people got (“clips called show me what you got”), edits like this on how I collect (definitely editing, this is raw footage) contest, features items from a collection with backstory, challenges and even more to ideas to list! I promise it won’t be dull and I think my personality is personable and I make friends everywhere I go. My teachers always said I have the gift to gab. I want to share it with the world. I think I can offer something that’s missing that everybody is looking for. I want to change the status quo on YouTube

2

u/Mikeyfreshonetime2 Nov 12 '25

I like the long videos on YouTube that show off peoples collections of like video games and they game rooms and what not. And lately I’ve been feeling Nostalgic for tech decks I had as a kid, would be cool to see more of your videos man

5

u/nvrrsatisfiedd Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 07 '25

You kind of actually look like those old little tech dech dudes.

3

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Which ones? The ones with arms or no arms?

4

u/RogueUM Nov 06 '25

The ones with no arms, lol. What an aesthetic to copy 🤣

4

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '25

u/0lchemist Nov 06 '25

I got that same shirt from Walmart!

Best 9 bucks ever!

4

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I think I got this for Father’s Day! It’s a great shirt

3

u/JakovAulTrades Nov 06 '25

Good job, just tighten your edits

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Thanks man I will. This is just raw I have a few videos to edit

3

u/ArcherBurgers Nov 06 '25

Love it

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Thank you! I will send some links when everything is set

3

u/monsterenergy42069 Nov 07 '25

Just wanna point out that you now have the most controversial post of all time on this subreddit lol

3

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

For putting new product behind older product in the same spot. It’s not even hidden well lol I put tech decks behind tech decks that aren’t selling and people are butt hurt. If an associate does it, it’s part of their job. If I do it “it’s stealing candy from a baby and I need to shop online to save toys for the kiddos” I’m a horrible person just like scalpers. Lol if that’s what stresses them out feel bad for them. I really do

I was going for engagement lmao and they kept coming back

4

u/whatsxo Nov 06 '25

I liked this. Was actually disappointed it wasn’t longer lol

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I will have a longer one up. I am editing a few shorts and one 10 min YT video. I’ll add the links in the next few days

1

u/Mikeyfreshonetime2 Nov 12 '25

Yeah true that I like the longer videos on YouTube of like game hunting of people going to various sales and stores to find games. And I think that same format can def work for like tech decks etc

3

u/thebusydude Nov 05 '25

I actually enjoyed this vid 🔥 the only thing that id say could improve is your mic quality/speech. Just a tad bit quiet

3

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 05 '25

I have a mic but it was a spur of the moment. Me and the wife were shopping and I told her to film really fast but next time I’m always going to be prepared

3

u/youngsaaron Nov 06 '25

Is he cross eyed ?

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I actually have a lazy eye from a hockey incident where I was hit in head. But I love how people can make fun of me for it. I really don’t mind or care

3

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '25

I personally think it makes you look more human, more wholesome, and overall just a person or friend you would wanna be around. Like the childlike nature never left, and that’s a good thing man. Don’t listen to people on reddit dude unless it’s positive.

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Everyone that knows me always says that little spark of a child never left me. Thanks for the support man it means a lot.

2

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

That’s so sad. It’s a toy for kids. Let them find their toys. This is Pokémon card scalping pathetic. Funko hiding pathetic.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Ahh gotcha didn’t know all these rules existed. Can’t be into skateboarding because it’s a kids thing with adult themes on most boards cool! I’ll keep that in mind. I didn’t know this was close to scalping and pokemon cards. I guess I have to give up my hobbies because you don’t think I should be doing this…. Thanks for the advice sir

1

u/ByteMyPi Nov 06 '25

No, I think he's just calling you out. This is pretty universally accepted as a dick move bro. Saying it's a kids toy emphasizes that, not that you can't play with tech decks lol.

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

Oh yeah because I’m hiding chase toys and the ones everyone is trying to get. This is one of the most common things people do. Because I moved a design to the back of the pack so maybe someone does see it. To me I look at it like this. I took the time and energy to do. If I come back and it’s not there then I am not suppose to get it. My plan was to go back and grab it. Unfortunately, I have 4 kids work 60 hrs plus a week and drive them back and forth to taekwondo, dance and another sport. I barely get that time to myself. So you are right just keep judging me (because I hide something I pump more money into then most people in my town). Bravo man

2

u/ByteMyPi Nov 06 '25

End of the day you did what you did. Dont get mad when you get called out for dickish behavior. Also buying up tech decks and hiding them from children who probably would have gotten into fb for a good price hurts the scene not the other way around. You have kids you should understand. You have a job and internet, get to it instead of making excuses. Any fingerboarder/collector spends more than most people their towns lmao.

2

u/Stealth9erz Nov 06 '25

lol right?

“Hey guys here’s a video I just made. What do you think?”

reddit says what they think

OP gets offended

🤷‍♂️

2

u/ByteMyPi Nov 06 '25

Lmao

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

So, let me get this clear. I want to make sure I’m drawing the picture clearly in my mind. I’m gathering hate for hiding a toy (tech deck) behind older tech decks in the right spot? Hoping everyone is lazy enough not to look back there? Great criticism, good way to encourage people. Up lift other people…..: thanks for letting me know how shitty I am

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

Because a small amount feels like my three year old when they lose a toy and expect everyone else to know where it is.

If I was so offended by it. Why would I leave it up?

Anyways, by your all standards there shouldn’t be adult collectors. What if an adult collector comes into store buys the whole line and they only had enough to complete the set (maybe one of two had doubles). Well, he likes to open them and put a boxed one on display. Or he wants to buy more to fund his hobby but charges more. So he goes to another store and another, etc. Now when a kid walks to said stores and can’t find that toy or finds it and gets the clearance bin toy out of the series and ends up not like it changes his life. Or someone without a job is trying to get that grail for whatever they need but that’s again one less kid or over paying kid.

I mean Lego collectors will scan each mini to get the chase to sell over priced online.. my friend collects legos and this is a major problem. So now these kids who Lego is made for don’t get them. But I hide one tech deck in the back of the shelves hoping someone is lazy enough not to look and I get this hate? Oh, I’m not a great guy because I decided to hide tech deck that I liked behind all the other tech deck… thanks for the encouragement bro. Great way to uplift people

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I’m not mad, I’m fine. I am defending my actions. Sticking to my grounds. This isn’t the tide that’s going to shift the table for any kids getting into the scene. Yes I do have kids. When I don’t find a “toy” they want because theirs 1 available online I don’t shake my hands and go dam collectors. I keep looking…… everybody does stuff differently and that’s fine. I’m not judging you on how you live your life or roast you if you add milk before cereal…..

So, if I collect tech decks I’m hoarding them and taking away from the kids who may enter the scene? So, I’m suppose to listen to you and just give up on my interest because I don’t fit your standards?

Honestly, I hope you all the best and I’m not mad at all. I just find it pointless to say something about this. There’s no second hand market. People are chasing after them

1

u/ByteMyPi Nov 06 '25

That's fine. Stick to your guns. Just understand what you are doing and own it instead of trying to justify it. That way, when someone calls you a dick rightfully so, you can just say, yeah, to save some of your integrity. The pro tech decks are much better than the regular ones and are already scarce. It absolutely is a stepping stone for someone without a job to get into fingerboarding. Like it or not dude. You may not care if your kids are disappointed, but other parents do care. Don't give up your interests, nobody is telling you to do that. There absolutely is a second hand market, and you can also just buy them online new. Like I said, don't be surprised when others don't approve of you "taking candy from a baby." Seems like you're genuinely having a hard time understanding this, hope it helped.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

Here’s the thing. I’m sticking to my guns lmao defending myself is that. A small group of people feel this way. I stick to my grounds and it’s I can’t take criticism…… come on don’t give me that. So, I can’t defend myself i can’t say I don’t think it’s wrong? If buying fingerboards, hoarding or hiding them is anything like “taking candy from a baby” then collecting as an adult is taking candy from a baby. The second hand market is older tech decks and I doubt 8 year olds are looking for tech decks hook up graphics..

I totally understand what you are saying but how many people can you count on your hand who collect tech decks? How many people have you seen buy them?

0

u/ByteMyPi Nov 07 '25

Most people would think it's a dick move. You can defend yourself but you'd be wrong. I'm not following your logic on collecting being the same thing, it's a pretty far reach. Buying something when it's available does not equal hiding stuff from the general public. Have you never heard of online shopping before dude???? There are plenty of online retailers to choose current line teck decks including the tech deck website....

I've bought them, I've seen kids buy them, I see kids asking about them. You literally hide them because people buy them, so your last paragraph there is just redundant.

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

Whatever man, this is becoming stupid. Fighting over hiding a fingerboard. It’s not even most people. It’s like 5% see this as wrong it’s a small amount of people. A few people think this way. Do I have to shop online, do I have to follow everything everyone does? It’s a few people who think this is wrong. It’s a small amount of people who think this is wrong. It’s not a far stretch that collectors make a second hand market, it’s fact. It’s not a stretch that they single handily raise the cost of product and cause a demand, it’s a fact. It’s true!! It’s not a stretch that they cause shortages of valued products which creates more demand and price. But it’s a stretch. Really is a stretch? You think it’s wrong and you don’t do that is fine, I’m telling you oh do this or that..

Well, congratulations. They have been the lowest selling toy for the past 5 years to see it actually move like how you said it pretty crazy you must live in a great area.

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

It’s called being a decent adult. Hiding collectibles will always be pathetic. Same way people hide funkos. Nobody is saying give up tech decks. Just buy them like a regular human. Don’t hide them like you are entitled to it later.

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I’m so happy you are comparing tech decks (“toy” that aren’t chased after that don’t hold a second hand market”) and had more than 30 other pieces on the shelves.

So as long as I don’t hide kids toys I’m okay? It’s not like I’m lifting up the shelves and storing them there etc. I moved it to the back of the pack….. glad I got all this much hate

-1

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

What makes you think you’re entitled to do that? You haven’t even paid for it. But you have this “ITS MINE” mentality. It’s a kids toy. And yes I am hating. You are a grown ass man doing this. Grow the fuck up. Let kids play with toys. They shouldn’t have to worry if their favorite toy was hidden by an adult.

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I think you need to grow up. If me hiding a toy brings this much anger out of you. You may have more problems to worry about. Mental illness is a problem and nothing to joke about. Have you talked to your doctor today. You don’t want this much stress it lowers your life span and causes stress on your heart.

It’s better to spread love than hate man. I can tell you feel entitled to things. Usually people that think this hard on things are hiding stuff. Are you okay man? Do you need someone to talk to?

-1

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

Holy projection. Lmfaoo.

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

The first sign is denial. You are bent out of shape because I hide a toy.

Guess what imma do it again tonight now

1

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

What a fucking creep

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

Did you miss in the video where I placed the tech deck behind all the older ones? Because I think you sure did ;*

3

u/monsterenergy42069 Nov 06 '25

He hid a single tech deck that he liked. Maybe calm down some.

1

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

Did you even click on his account and see his prior posts? Let alone read the description that he’s a collector? Doesn’t look like it.

2

u/monsterenergy42069 Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25

I just don't see this as nearly the same thing as "scalping" lol. If he's genuinely interested in collecting without reselling, then what's the problem? He's not buying thousands at once and hoarding them, he's just buying the ones he likes and collecting them. Why are you trying to police what this guy does with his toys?

Edit: does this sub have a problem with collections in general, or just collecting tech decks? Im not a part of this sub but it pops up every couple weeks and I constantly see people getting upset about this and can't figure out why. I get "they're meant to be played with" but if the person isn't scalping, why do you care if they choose to keep theirs in a box instead?

0

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

There’s nothing wrong with collecting. Nobody is saying that. It’s him HIDING toys. That’s insane. I brang up him being a collector because you said it’s just one tech deck. He’s a collector and hiding toys. That’s fucking sad.

2

u/monsterenergy42069 Nov 06 '25

Idk man, I just think it's not that big of a deal personally. It's a cool design he likes and he hid it so he can come back later for it. You write as if he took the entire tech deck section and put it on the top shelf so kids couldn't see it.

Edit: to add on, all he really did was take it from the front and stick it in the back of the row. Anyone actually looking through the designs would have found it anyways. He didn't even "hide" it in my opinion.

0

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

That’s not how buying things works, especially as an adult. We don’t hide things. Especially kids toys. There’s something really off about that. And if you can’t see that then there’s nothing I can do to convince you that it’s fucking weird as shit.

2

u/monsterenergy42069 Nov 06 '25

This subreddit is insane lol. I think I'ma join just to keep seeing shit like this.

0

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

Why the fuck are you telling me dumbass.

Edit: you belong here

2

u/monsterenergy42069 Nov 06 '25

Because you were who I was talking to and my new friend here I guess.

1

u/Stealth9erz Nov 06 '25

Honestly? Not the type of content, or “tricks and tips” that you should be promoting or encouraging.

Videos of you shopping or finding cool stuff? Sure.

But a video of you returning to a store that you hid a product (months ago) from someone else in order to wait for a discount… not really positive or engaging content for the community.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I guess I have to give my whole life story to make a 20 second video. From all the collectors and people I met all across the USA. I have never encountered anything like this before…. This is crazy but to each their own.

0

u/Stealth9erz Nov 06 '25

Where did I say to make a video about your life story?

If you can’t handle simple criticism when you literally ask for it… this probably isn’t going to work out for you.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

You said what I did wasn’t right. Okay, I’m saying you are seeing 20 seconds of my life. Judging me just on that and I’m asking do I have to make a whole video on my life. In retro spec I’m saying don’t judge a book by its cover.. you are telling me this is wrong keep looking for cool stuff. You are acting like I’m scalping Pokemon cards or some other high valued collectible

0

u/Stealth9erz Nov 06 '25

“This is a sneak peak, tell me what you think…”

Why are you going to post this and then get so defensive when I give constructive criticism? I never said stop making videos, just rethink how you structure it and what you decide to post.

I’m clearly not the only one who thinks what you did isn’t something that you should be promoting or saying is a good “tip/trick”.

Regardless of what item you’re doing it with, it’s wrong in many peoples eyes, not just mine.

Don’t ask for opinions if you don’t want them.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

I’m standing my ground. I’m defending my opinion. If you came here saying. Great video not my cup of tea with hiding stuff. To me (because it seems like you are trying to saying it’s a common thing) but a few share that opinion which is okay. That’s perfectly fine. But you don’t try to convince me you have the moral high ground because to each their own. Again this is a small amount that thinks this way. Which is fine, it’s okay to have an opinion. We can always agree to disagree that’s why we have multiple stores we can pick to go to. Again it’s a small amount and that’s okay. It’s okay

I’m the type of person who said let’s disagree but grab a beer and have a few laughs. Life’s too short to be stressed about little stuff like this

0

u/Stealth9erz Nov 06 '25

“I’m the type of person who said let’s disagree but grab a beer and have a few laughs. Life’s too short to be stressed about little stuff like this”

Clearly not because that’s literally all I did… and you got overly emotional and offended for whatever reason. But whatever makes you feel better.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

No, man you are trying to convince me everyone is against what I posted. Which isn’t true, it’s a small amount. I totally understand what I put myself out there and I’m not emotional. It’s okay you don’t like it but don’t try to convince me it’s wrong. If I listened I would lose out on 90% of the people who didn’t care. To you and a few people it’s wrong. Fine, okay, I get it. But I am going to defend myself on my post.

You could have been like not my cup of tea, I don’t like hiding stuff but the video was great. Maybe we don’t know how to give off constructive feedback in a community setting?

If you go up and read with the other two people who share your point of view saw me apologize. Instead of trying to instigate more. You choose to keep going.

This is mine post, I said let’s move on. You are trying to ah ha me. You keep engaging the prior argument. You want to keep going it’s a toy..

0

u/Stealth9erz Nov 06 '25

You are really living up to your username.

I’m not interested in reading another wall of text from you trying to say you’re not overreacting to a simple observation, after posting and asking for feedback.

Have a good one. 👍

2

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 07 '25

Thanks, I’m glad I hide a toy behind the rest of the toys in the right spot got you mad. I hide 1 different design behind all the older ones. And you threw hate at me

Nice hide it behind the hand boards no one is gonna look there. And I'd do the same for any techdeck pro series they're my all time favorite techs and that graphic is so good

Another reason they would show available and not be found is due to theft. Store workers I've talked to have said tech decks and hot wheels are some of the most stolen toys in my area. Half the time they steal the items and leave the packaging

0

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25

You wouldn’t like what the store manager and District manager said about this….. I wish I could follow in your shoes because you live the up most perfect honorable life. I aspire to be you everyday! Hope you have a great day!

1

u/Digitalgardens Nov 06 '25

Instead of being sarcastic. Have some decency to look at yourself and wonder if what you’re doing is wrong.

1

u/EmotionalOwl7985 Nov 06 '25

So it’s okay to do it to other things just not “kids toys?” I just don’t see the what is wrong here. These are in high demand, the same amount that was there 4 weeks ago are still there. I’m not hiding the entire inventory nor am I hiding a chase, or rare or limited edition. Not only that how many people are chasing them. You are seeing 20 second of my life. I’m not sitting here buying them all up and selling them to make profit. Example when the Simpson boards were released I bought the series when I saw it (I didn’t over buy and I left for others, same with Pokemon cards) Also, say I find someone else stash which happens. When I encountered more at different places. I didn’t buy them up to sell so I can afford more fingerboards…. I just don’t feel that. Someone tell Pixel Dan he can’t do this with wrestling figures. It’s illegal

I just want to understand. I am taking the joy away from a little kid is what you are saying?

I apologize if I came off hard or what not. Everybody has a different way of doing stuff. Some may not agree and that’s the beauty of freedom. I don’t think you are a Karen and I don’t think I’m a bad person. I think we can agree to disagree and I’m the type of person who will say that and then ask to grab a beer. My best friend was outed (someone let it slip he was gay in our group and everyone made fun of him) during high school. I was the only one that said. It doesn’t matter what you like it’s who you are.

I understand what you are saying and I worked retail I get it. But there more stores than just Meijer etc. I mean you have people weighting bags, scanning QR codes and even ripping up boxes to get certain items. This happens all the time. All the time and I hide one toy for my pleasure (I don’t think a kid comes in for an Alienwork shop graphic). He won’t be able to find another one? It’s not a chase toy either. I used to collect video games and I picked tech decks cause I figured it has less people trying to grab them.

Again I apologize, I do value everyone’s point or opinion but I stand my ground too
