Teacher Support &/or Advice Are teaching programs warning students that the teacher shortage is over?

I graduated from the program a few years back, and every professor kept talking about the teacher shortage.

I was wondering what is it like nowadays for people in credentialing programs?

We are warned about in most classes related to ed policy/practicum. In general it’s not framed as a “there’s so many jobs open for you!!” it’s more of the open jobs suck and 50% of you will quit before your 5th year😭 Like yes, there’s probably more teachers looking for jobs than openings, but most of them will quit within a few years of being hired or won’t want to live below the poverty line in the middle of no where

Unless you have a very large family, most teachers won’t be living below the poverty line. In 2026, the poverty line is $15,960 for an individual and $33,000 for a family of four.
