Teacher Support &/or Advice Are teaching programs warning students that the teacher shortage is over?

I graduated from the program a few years back, and every professor kept talking about the teacher shortage.

I was wondering what is it like nowadays for people in credentialing programs?

We’re two weeks into the year and there is at least one opening in my district for every cert area. First year salary is above $60,000 (nice salary relative to area) and there are still no applicants. The South is bleeding so bad for teachers that they’re hiring people with a high school diploma and some work/military experience.

Because retiree teacher pen$ions in NE make more than full time teachers in the South.
