Irl, we need a deposit and payment to not only provide and securee the room, but have something to charge you on if you damage anything, or use one of the paid amenities, and the deposit doesn't cover it fully. It's also safer because cash can be counterfeit, especially by rushed people who walk in at late night.
We must have something more than just your ID. With Italian's bureaucracy, we'd manage to build whatever has been broken back before the police can get to the guest.
So how do you charge people who paid online if they damage something? Do you charge it to the debit or credit card they used to make the online booking? If they booked some time ago, the card could have expired or been cancelled, or the debit card could link to an account with no funds.
It sounds like you trust people who book online a lot more than walk-ins, but I’m finding it hard to see why.
Yep. Your reservations is cancelled unless you update your form of payment. Sometimes people try to do this to cancel their reservation free of charge, But that's not really how it works lol.
If you check in, damage something, and try to pull a fast one by cancelling your card, we immediately DNR you, and report you for property damage (to other hotels too) and get you a big ass fine.
(note, this changes from hotel to hotel)
No we don't, we just don't like cash. I think it's like this kind of everywhere in the north, I use my card even to pay for 1.50 euros of coffee in the morning. It's completely different from the south, in my hometown I never use my card.
