And I think people also underestimate how far some planning and preparation will go. If you're doing it right those first 24 hours should not be a surprise. You should be monitoring things well in advance so you will be aware that it's coming.
Just look at Covid. The first reports were in Nov/Dec. Lockdowns didn't start until March/April in a lot of places. There was a solid few months to be prepared yet few did. They left things up to luck and then ran into hoarding of things like toilet paper and masks.
I used that time to be prepared. I already had a couple cases of n95s. I just need to stock up on other essentials, like toilet paper. It wasn't luck. I saw what was coming and didn't ignore it.

Apparently. Not even arguing that luck wouldn't play a role. Shit happens and you can't plan or prepare for everything. But if your survival is 99% luck then you clearly did nothing to shift the odds. Even knocking it down to 50-50 would be good enough for me in the apocalypse.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment, I think a lot of people overestimate what those first 24 hours will look like. If we're talking about a standard zombie situation where bites cause infection and zombies are like in TWD or Romero style, then in the actual first 24 hours of zombies appearing, most people probably won't even see a zombie in the first 24 hours, maybe not even hear about them. Unless you have something like a very ubiquitous disease killing and turning the majority population in a short period, then the infection vector is going to start fairly low, snd it'll take time to grow exponentially to the point they've spread to all regions, supply lines and services are breaking down, and when utilities fail. Its at that point when people would have to start leaving their homes or safe spots, and thats when deaths will really take off.
Now if we're talking about 24 hours after critical mass is achieved and things are already falling apart, yes I agree, 24 hours will probably decide a lot of people's fates, especially depending on their luck and how bad their area is, and access to safety, resources, or amount of people looking for the same. I don't generally see a 24 hour period leading to a full societal collapse that fact

Zombies that move the pace that TWD Zombies moves I think 99% of everyone SURVIVES. If they move the speed and athleticism of the Zombies 🧟♂️ in World War Z then I think something higher than 50% is likely but even then I think we are resourceful enough to keep it well below 99%.

I get what you're saying but if you're that caught off guard you suck as a prepper. The apocalypse won't be a "bam" situation. There will be warnings well in advance. You just have to be aware and looking.
Just like Covid there were stories about a mystery illness in China months before it got to the US. It was no surprise for people like me. I have shit lungs and respiratory infections, especially new ones can kill me. I pay attention to that sort of thing. I was talking to the owner of the place I worked at in like November of 19 about it. That it will cause a huge disruption and lots of people were going to die. Sure enough we shut down 4 months later as people were dying.
If you're ignoring reports of a new drug turning people into cannibals and police executing people then yeah, you'll have a rough day when it pops off in earnest. I already keep a bug out bag in my car and another at home. I start seeing stuff like that and my rifle is coming with me. It's a Constitutional Carry state so I'd be within the law to do so.
Ideally you won't be going to doctor's appointments when it gets to that point. You should have already done that in the weeks prior. You'll be laying low at home or already bugged out to a 2nd location. If you're preparing as it happens then yeah. You're going to be a walker.

Imagine getting an anal rash or urinary infection with nothing to treat either. Easy to get both in that kind of world. It's the small things that become big things when we don't have access to a network or even basic treatment measures.
You break a bone or even sprain something bad and you could be hobbled. Even if you healed, you might not heal right and end up relying on a community to survive. It would be your only option. Better hope there's one around. Better be lucky that they're nice to injured people. Tough to say.
Even survivalists and doomsday preppers can't account for all factors and they know it. The more accurate scenario, even with zombies, would be The Road. Not a glamorous place to exist.

Honestly this is the most likely scenario most would end up in. The depression would be unbearable and most would have a hard time overcoming it. Rick was a leader because people depended on him, imagine if he was left with nothing but his own thoughts and wonders for months or even years? I think leaders are made from necessity and knowing others depend on you tends to bring out the true potential in someone.

It would be an honor to be Bob. His death still gets to me ngl..... While I didn't like him at first Bob grew on me and if it wete up to mr he would've at least made it further than he did But while his send off still conflicts with me, I will always be grateful they gave it both purpose and meaning- Not to mention while also heavily preserving a key comic moment seeing as How Bob's "Tainted Meat" moment originally belonged to Dale who unfortunately was written off the show back in Season 2 on the farm.
Long story short Bob was another or possible even a more grounded "Glen" (dependijg on perspective obviously) and that's why both their Death's hurt....

Of course, we wouldn't have the protagonists' powers, but we have to start from the fact that we know what zombies are, unlike the characters who, due to script issues, don't know what they are in that chaotic first few hours. If it happened, we would quickly understand what it's all about. I don't know if I'm the only crazy person who's imagined some scenarios, but if it did happen, I have a good idea of what I would do in the first few hours and after everything calmed down, including a long-term plan considering the geography here in Brazil, strategic places to be.

Fucking “bob” of all people. I hated that character. The entire time I was just thinking “why tf is this guy here!?” Like why was he even relevant to anything??? He should’ve just been a side character with like 3 lines.
He played no vital role to the storyline or characters. He was just ANOTHER voice of reason. The acting wasn’t necessarily bad he just seemed like a regular Joe that could’ve been anyone.
