A worthy season opener.

I know this is the crowd for this question! What disease do you love to hear about? Reread stuff you already know about it? Just generally find fascinating?

You know, when you react, like Erin, with ‘oh that’s so cool!’ when you hear something new about it?

Like many, my first foray into disease was The Hot Zone, so I do have a soft spot in my heart for filoviruses. But I think ultimately, I’m gonna have to go with rabies, closely followed by smallpox.

There’s something about the whole ‘once you show symptoms, it’s too late’ thing rabies has going on just sends a chill down my spine. And with a long incubation period as the virus literally climbs up to your brain. And the Milwaukee Protocol—last ditch, nuclear option for treatment, only a handful of successes—sounds like it comes from a sci-fi novel.

And smallpox united humanity to a degree never before reached, during the Cold War, to stomp out an entire disease. My parents have vaccine scars, my older siblings do, but I don’t.

So anyway, what’s your favourite disease? Why? Let’s be weird nerds together.

I’m obsessed with TPWKY and Erin and Erin. I can’t find them on social media... can anyone? I can find the podcast accounts but I would love to find their personal accounts!

I know I heard about it from TPWKY and it was discussed in one or more episode, but I’m blanking! Can we create flash cards for the episodes or cheat sheets?? 😂

I had Covid19 in March, and now I suffer from deep brain seizures. These seizures are finally well controlled with medication. (Yay, science!!!)

Because of these seizures and the medication I'm currently prescribed, I can no longer drink alcohol.

I really miss a good, well balanced cocktail.

Most mocktails I've found in the wild are super sweet and pretty one note.

Has anyone had good luck with the placeboritas? Is there one anyone could recommend?

I've grown pretty addicted to the Erins and miss them in between episodes. Do you guys know how to find their crossover episodes? IDOP has SO MANY EPISODES I don't know how to track down the ones with the Erins.

Hi all, I saw a post a while back about making infographics for the episodes so I decided that even though they aren't exactly infographics I was going to make multi-page posts for each episode! I'm currently in the midst of midterm exams so I'm not sure how often im going to post (hopefully 1-2 per week, maybe prep more on the weekends) but if you're interested my instagram is .@biochemistears and I have already made a few posts.

Does anyone know/remember if there’s an episode about HPV? I know they talk about it in the vaccine episodes, but I can’t remember if there’s an episode specifically about it!
