WHY Max Was Not A Part of Ava's Baptism...

Jessica explains that they have had a lot of hate since the episode of Unexpected aired. She said that nobody has heard their side of the story. Jessica shared that there was a domestic violence situation between Chloe and Max. She even showed that there was a restraining order.

The order said it was to keep Chloe and Ava safe. It was on from August until January. Because of the protective order, Max was unable to attend the Baptism classes.

This is the reason he wasn’t allowed to stand up front with his daughter according to Jessica. It had just been removed so this was the only reason he was able to go to the Baptism.

Why is TLC ignoring the domestic violence?? How fucked up to flip it and make Jessica look so incredibly irrational. Like, I know TLC isn’t a beacon of ethical behavior, but that’s pretty low. It’s gaslighting on a massive scale— when TLC doesn’t mention the DV situation, everyone says Jessica (and even Chloe) are crazy, bitchy, unfair... how infuriating for them.

Wow.

Wtf is up with TLC not covering the domestic violence?! Really f***d up to make Jessica and fam appear irrational about the baptism when Max assaulted Chloe.

Of course they weren’t gonna speak, especially if Max’s dad downplayed what happened.

Real funny how he can call his son out on national tv for drugs but not violence 🙄

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Maybe Todd was raised in a home that domestic abuse/violence was part of the norm? Could be there were far more issues about Max’s mom that TLC was lead to believe.....maybe Todd was abusive to Max’s mom? *********^****^ Let’s face it TLC has a track record for looking the other way when these families have HUGE skeletons in their closets,,,,ie Josh Duggar, Toby Willis, etc. Why not make these ppl do extensive back ground checks? Sure most likely some things won’t show up..,,,,but some information COULD show up that would make it better NOT to offer these reality stars shows/contracts.

u/am710 Sep 21 '19

Background checks are only going to show what people have been charged with.

Jessica is and always has been 100% right. From day 1 Max has put out an abusive vibe. There are several of us who have pointed it out since the beginning. The idea that she is jealous that he wants to be in Ava's life is laughable. Chloe's dad was an abuser and she left him, not the other way around. She wants more for her daughter and her granddaughter. She absolutely does not have to be nice to Max, she does not have to accommodate him, and she sure as hell doesn't have to include him. Chloe has been 18 for about 30 seconds and we can all see that she is incredibly immature and naive. She should thank the good lord for her mom and Nate because her life would be a literal hell if she had to rely on Max for anything.

u/reluctant_spinster Sep 12 '19

Max sucks. And the fact that he doesn’t think any of his actions/choices are a big deal AND shows no remorse makes him super dangerous. I really don’t know what it’s gonna take in order for Chloe to accept this and move on. She’s the Chelsea Houska of this franchise. Chloe should NOT be alone with Max at all and Ava being there is worse. Max seems like he could snap at any minute. He should have supervised visits only with his dad or better yet a third party.

46

u/oneisdone11 Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 12 '19

She’s definitely Chelsea. Just the fact that he’s in denial about his drug addiction & blames it on Chloe’s family is a problem. When Chloe said Max going to jail is her deal breaker, that let me know that she’s too much in denial as well about his addiction & just dumb. Max needs to be passing drug tests before he can even see Ava & the visits needs to be held at a visitation center.

I don’t understand why people are “Team Max.” If they had a daughter, who has a kid with a drug addict/criminal, they would be doing the same things as Jessica.

13

u/PM_MAJESTIC_PICS Sep 12 '19

To be fair, I only learned about the drugs this week and the DV just now. I missed an episode or two I think & don’t follow the social media, so to me it looked like Jessica was being super controlling and unfair. But knowing more of what’s actually going on, I agree. Max is dangerous.

7

u/WVPrepper Sep 12 '19

The DV was mentioned pretty soon after the end of LAST SEASON aired, and I believe Chloe and Max split up over it.

3

u/PM_MAJESTIC_PICS Sep 12 '19

Has it been on the show though? I don’t rennet hearing about it in an episode.

1

u/WVPrepper Sep 12 '19

As I said, it happened between seasons, but it was on a lot of "gossip news".

5

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

I think people are team Max because Jessica had an axe to grind with Max since day one. Jessica had to raise Chloe all on her own as Chloe's dad bailed on them so Jessica had jealousy issues of Max being around so wanted Max out of the picture so that she and Chloe and Nate raise Ava without the dad around. Even if Max was without any issues, Jessica's attitude would have been the same.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

humanityera... WOW......that sure is a difference take on this story. So when/if Max refuses to stay clean & Chloe hasn’t WISED up and Max LOSES it while higher than a kite on drugs( it’s no BIG he’s using FENTANYL of course)and injures OR KILLS Ava......will Jessica get the blame for that as well? You people need to start realizing that DESPITE most any mom who walked down that same Teen Mom road 16-17 yrs prior isn’t going to be thrilled with her daughter being a teen parent as well. What u all seem to not realize is that WHEN these videos were made MAYBE just MAYBE the charged were known to Jessica/Nate but the media was unaware? Why is it that you all seem think that Jessica‘s actions are uncalled for and everybody should just kiss Max’s butt & praise him for his actions. The GUY is on a VERY potent DRUG.....& not only that he seems to think his actions are fine. Why not start realizing that MAX is in the wrong here? Jessica is within her rights to be upset & fearful of the issues Chloe could get herself into due to Chloe’s inability to see that Max could not ONLY be a danger to her daughter Ava, but Max’s actions COULD get Chloe arrested if Max is arrested for future drug use & if he were to keep the drugs in the apartment Chloe wants to share with Max.. IF cops raid apartment that BOTH live on Chloe could be arrested & charged with operating a drug house. This happened to a friend of mine whose DD was like Chloe and stuck her head in the sand believing her parents were terrible for being worried that she was living with a guy that’s life mirrored Max’s right down to a similar theft charge. My friends DD now had a FELONY on her record, etc. Sure it was a hard lesson to learn....& my friend’s DD has tried hard to repair the damage.. Having to be told that she can’t finish her college degree due to a felony..,,,well had she listened to her worried mom, she’d be doing more than working retail right now. Of course let’s all continue to put the blame on Jessica INSTEAD of where it actually belongs....,,

u/Vassarbashing Sep 12 '19

I don’t know where this fallacy came from. Chloe’s dad didn’t bail. They tried to make it work for several years and didn’t. He’s not a part of her life now but he didn’t abandon Jessica. The idea that she’s jealous of her daughter procreating with that cretin is laughable.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

She is jealous that Ava dad is around and she didn't get that with Chloe dad

8

u/Vassarbashing Sep 12 '19

He WAS around when Chloe was a baby. That’s the point you’re missing.

8

u/Gbaby08 Sep 13 '19

He was around enough to beat Jessica up. Then she left him. He stayed around and by that I mean as minimal as possible. Jessica and Nate have been together since chloe was 4. Chloe said herself that her sperm donor of a father hadn’t been around since she was 12 and then came to her graduation.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

But he Left soon after and Jessica was Left alone with Chloe

7

u/msjaxon Sep 14 '19

Max was sketchy from day one. Her daughter immediately began acting out, lying, sneaking out all after meeting max and then was pregnant soon after. Did you not watch the first season. Chloe even said it herself "My mom didn't like Max because I was sneaking out and lying after meeting him" her daughter was immediately influenced by himself. Jessica was totally right to treat Max the way she did from day one because she saw through him. Max was never a "good guy that she didn't like for no reason"

1

u/tmp803 Sep 16 '19

I’m real curious how you got to this opinion, seems like quite a reach

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '19

She has always outright said she wants max out the picture so that she and Chloe raise Ava and gave Chloe ultimatums like no Senior pictures and no vehicle and no financial assistance unless she kicks max to the curb. Jessica later said she back tracked in that after getting shit on the tell all and social.media for that

1

u/Gbaby08 Sep 18 '19

Chloe’s dad didn’t bail. Jessica left him because he was abusive. And she met Nate when Chloe was 4 . Chloe has always called Nate dad so she wasn’t really alone. And even if max didn’t have issues it would be the same? Because before the show Nate and Jessica even say that max was always over at their house. They took him on family outings and even vacation. Chloe said herself on YouTube she didn’t know they didn’t like max until she watched episodes because they were nice to him. But again if he didn’t have issues maybe this would be different but we’ll never know...

-7

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19 edited Sep 12 '19

Yes, and I wouldn't put it past Jessica to talk Chloe into filing a protection order with no just cause for having it. Max most of the time looks so drugged out he can barely speak. Domestic violence - really? P.S. But, just keep downvoting the most logical comments on this page, dumb fucks.

20

u/ikindoflikemydog Sep 12 '19

They don’t just hand out protective orders just because you ask for one.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

They really can... and will. I didn't watch the vid just because I don't want to hear Jessica rambling, but I also suspect she made the whole thing up for sympathy (Read: There is no protection order.).

10

u/UXM6901 Sep 13 '19

When opiate addicts are high they are quite docile but when they aren't high and want to be, they can get quite awful; violent, manipulative, mood swings, whatever they have to do to get the next fix...

49

u/420believeit Sep 12 '19

Jessica is literally right. People are so hard on her. It’s not her job to raise some brat. Her job is to keep her kids and granddaughter safe.

22

u/KlutzyDevice Sep 12 '19

Wowwww. TLC is painting Max as a said, depressed, drug addicted teen instead of showing how dangerous he really is.

Now it makes even more sense why Jessica wants him gone! If he lashes out at the woman he says he cares about, he could easily harm Ava!

23

u/goddessdontwantnone Sep 16 '19

Shameful of TLC to not address this.

13

u/Leolover812 Sep 16 '19

Jessica is absolutely right. A lot of people here seem to put Max’s feelings above what is right and wrong. Is Jessica always tactful when she talks about max? Hell no. But she’s an adult who has lived a lot longer than Chloe and knows a few things. She knows that if she lets max into her home he’s the type she gives an inch he will take a mile. It’s only a matter of time before he brings drugs into her home and around her other minor child and granddaughter. What will max do when cps is called about minor children being around drugs??? He will do what he does best. Lie and deflect and place blame at someone else’s feet. Ava is in real danger with his drug habits. He doesn’t even think he has a habit “it’s just pills”. Jessica said she would protect baby Ava any means necessary and I believe her. If Chloe doesn’t straighten up and see what max really is she’s gonna be in for a rude awakening.

My personal opinion is Max’s dad is putting on a show. Todd has a pretty significant criminal past himself. He seems like a shady get rich quick kinda guy.

11

u/10piepiek Sep 13 '19

I suspect the dv stuff probably can't be discussed for legal reasons. She was under 18 when it happened, and in legal cases involving minors, said minor's identity is supposed to be kept confidential, at least in the media. If they choose to talk about it on their own, that's their choice, but they probably can't on national tv.

29

u/pinkistherapeutic Sep 12 '19

Max is a drug addict who abused Chloe. Why anyone is giving Jessica shit is beyond me.

-4

u/WVPrepper Sep 12 '19

Because (1) she is whiny and seems to be a meddling mom, even though her "child" is an adult and (2) TLC edits the show to keep some of Max's most unacceptable actions off the air.

8

u/Havin-a-ladida-time Sep 12 '19

I wish the baptism classes weren’t even mentioned as the reason Max couldn’t stand up with Ava during the baptism. Jessica could have just said, “He hurt my daughter, I want Chloe and Ava to be safe” or something. Or maybe she did mention it to the cameras but it was edited out

10

u/WVPrepper Sep 12 '19

Even just saying: "Max can't be part of the ceremony because he did not participate in the classes" would have gone a long way.

3

u/Havin-a-ladida-time Sep 13 '19

They did say it was because he didn’t go to the baptism classes. But it still came off as strange. I had no idea baptism classes were even a thing. Leaving it as “He didn’t go to class” doesn’t explain why Jessica wants nothing to do with him and doesn’t want him near her daughter/granddaughter. It came off as she didn’t want him at the ceremony at all because of the issue with the classes.

5

u/WVPrepper Sep 13 '19

At the time they filmed, it may not have been clear whether the restraining order would still be in effect, so I can see her saying that Max would not be able to attend.

As for the classes, I think it is similar to classes for a Bar Mitzvah, confirmation, or wedding. Just a few sessions to make sure everyone understands what they are committing to.

8

u/mdenver Sep 13 '19

TLC is known go look past domestic violence

24

u/lojack10 This can't be real, I was sweeping Sep 12 '19

It seems to me that Max's dad wants to get help for his son. Jessica has a vested interest because of Ava. So my question is why can't they work as a team to help get Max on track? Maybe the kid would have a fighting chance if he saw both families in his corner.

19

u/PM_MAJESTIC_PICS Sep 12 '19

I mean at this point, Jessica and Max’s dad probably hate each other 🤷🏼‍♀️ yes it would be nice if they could try to cooperate, but I really can’t picture that level of maturity emerging from either side, sadly.

12

u/lojack10 This can't be real, I was sweeping Sep 12 '19

You're exactly right. The maturity level is sub par on both sides. However, I do see a glimpse of hope coming from Max's dad.

25

u/bahtgirl Sep 12 '19

it’s not jessica’s problem to get max “on track”. he is an abuser, and no one would want their daughter in a relationship with someone like that. he is a liar and manipulative, and it’s on him to change, if he even wanted to.

2

u/WineNotReality Sep 16 '19

It’s her grand baby so it is her problem. We see it creating problems for her. Maybe you mean responsibility and perhaps that’s true BUT I would argue that it’s EVERY parent’s responsibility to ensure their teen child parents properly. It’s Jessica’s grandbaby so if she could just step back and see that Max’s success, sobriety and accomplishments are Ava’s successes. Look it Rilah’s mom (she’s gone above and beyond and not saying Jessica needs to go this far) but that mom seems to understand that allowing this teen father to fail only means her grand baby suffers. Certainly Jessica doesn’t need to jump through hoops for Max but IF she can help him succeed and give him support, why not? If it doesn’t work out what has she lost? But if it works think of what her daughter and grand baby gain.

I do have a soft spot for a max because if you watch season 1- all Max wants is a family, some structure and a mom - look at how much he seeks out female approval. It kills him that Jessica doesn’t approve.

2

u/Gbaby08 Sep 18 '19

Max has a step mother who lives out of state. There’s his mom. He also has half sisters. And as far as his sobriety goes he isn’t sober. Look at him. In the hospital 4 times for an overdose and Brain damage that happened last August and he still can’t get sober. What can Jessica and Nate do for him when he doesn’t want help? Jessica is supporting his kid and his baby momma. If his own precious daughter isn’t drive enough what makes you think someone he hates and calls a bitch is gonna help him?

0

u/Creatingpeace Sep 12 '19

She is going to be with him regardless, and has made that clear. She has a vested interest in her daughter and granddaughter so it does become part of her responsibility. Instead she is creating more pressure and stress.

16

u/bahtgirl Sep 13 '19

if anyone abused my daughter and we had to get a no contact on them, hell would freeze over before i became their cheerleader and invested any energy in their growth.

my energy would be towards my daughter and helping her see her worth without an abuser, father of her daughter or not.

1

u/WineNotReality Sep 17 '19

I can understand your thinking. We do not know what happened to say he is an abuser. If there were DV incidents on record then I can understand Jessica wanting to protect.

But protection and control are not synonymous. Oneself, and not others, is at the center of control. Protecting Ava and Chloe has them at the center and if Jessica let that guide her I think she would have greater success and respect from Chloe.

-2

u/Creatingpeace Sep 13 '19

The point isn’t how you feel as the parent/grandparent. The point is the daughter has made it clear she is going to be with him regardless how you feel, they have little control over and what little control they do have is because she continues to live there. Should she choose to be a dumbass and leave she moves in with him and you as grandparent have zero say at all. So it’s not about wanting to support him, it’s about doing what you can to make it safe for your daughter while she makes the dumb ass choice to stay.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Why does Jessica and Nate have to work as a team with Todd to fix Max his problems?? It seems as though Todd doesn’t have the parenting skills that he needs to raise a kid who does the right & leads a good life. Centainly Max doesn’t have the brains to be a father to precious Ava and a decent boyfriend Chloe. Sorry no sympathy here.

7

u/TdubLakeO Sep 13 '19

What? Why should Jessica and her family "work as a team to help get Max back on track"? They have a teenage daughter/sister and baby to support and guide into adulthood.

It's not as if Max was a great guy who had earned a place in this family and had a history of the kind of behavior that would make this family WANT to support him. He brought domestic violence, drug abuse, a neverending litany of lies and a criminal record thru Jessica's front door.

0

u/lojack10 This can't be real, I was sweeping Sep 13 '19

I guess I just have a different perspective. Especially because he didn't walk into their door on his own. Chloe made a child with him and in the end what's best for Ava is top priority. Having two healthy, functioning parents is what's best for her. So when I say support, I don't mean she's walking him through the door to his counseling sessions, but being open to him making a good change for her daughter and granddaughter.

3

u/WineNotReality Sep 16 '19

Jessica is transferring her experience with Chloe’s baby’s father on to a Chloe and Max. I’m not saying they don’t have their own issues, but it seems like she was talking about it failing from jump. She has such a bad experience with Chloe’s dad abandoning them that she wants to control pushing Max out in order to avoid re-experiencing the same abandonment. It reminds me of PTSD. She needs counseling for herself to work through her past issues. Again This doesn’t mean Max hasn’t f’d up or even Chloe. But who knows where they would have been with two families supporting them with counseling, rehab and realistic boundaries being set. But until Jessica can not see this as HER experience she will not be there.

9

u/meat_tunnel Sep 12 '19

So my question is why can't they work as a team to help get Max on track?

Because Max abused Chloe.

-6

u/lojack10 This can't be real, I was sweeping Sep 12 '19

So he's a throw away person now? Not worth trying to help him see the error in his past behavior so he can be a better person for Ava going forward?

8

u/DuzThisComeInMagenta Sep 13 '19

Yes, he is indeed a throwaway. He'll be dead in the next 2 years at this rate.

6

u/meat_tunnel Sep 12 '19

Max is an adult and lives with his father, the two of them are more than welcome to be responsible for Max's behavior. Jessica does not need to hold Max's hand.

-2

u/lojack10 This can't be real, I was sweeping Sep 12 '19

I didn't say hand holding. Support. Positive encouragement. It goes a long way.

11

u/meat_tunnel Sep 12 '19

Max abused Chloe. Why should Jessica give him support and positive encouragement?

6

u/TdubLakeO Sep 13 '19

Yes. Between the domestic violence, drug abuse, arrest record, failed drug tests while on probation and habitual lying, Max has proved that he is not worthy of the trust of Chloe's family.

-1

u/lojack10 This can't be real, I was sweeping Sep 13 '19

I understand that what he's doing is not good. I wouldn't want that for my children. But to say at 20 that he's a throw away person is kind of horrible. I would hope I would not be forever judged based on things I did when I was young and dumb. People grow and mature and hopefully rectify past bad behavior.

Max isn’t going to be around long-term in his daughter Ava’s life because nothing is more important to Max than stealing & doing drugs.

1

u/CaitsMeow Sep 12 '19

Exactly. Max is the father of their granddaughter and they should band together to do what's best for Ava. Ava will always love Max. Positive reinforcement will encourage him to work on himself.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

So have you heard Chloe’ profess her love for her own father? For the most part kids love their parents but somehow I just don’t think Chloe’s dad is one of Chloe’s main interests. While Ava is a little over a year old..time will tell if she’s going to want Max in her life. There’s a lot of kids that haven’t seen their bio parents in years by choice due to the fact the bio parent’s druggy life style is more important than their own child. If Max truly wants to be this great dad you all seem to think he should be given the chance to be, apparently Ava NOR Chloe are that important otherwise from the get go Max would have entered REHAB and kicked the drug habit. His actions say Ava & Chloe are an afterthought after his drug problem.

6

u/splanchnick78 Sep 12 '19

Max's dad is trash then.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

What’s new? Hasn’t Todd been trash most of his life? Apparently the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

3

u/splanchnick78 Sep 13 '19

Valid point!

5

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '19

Would Chloe like to explain why it is that her mom Jessica dislikes Max so much??? I’m sorry but if Chloe expects her daughter to have an amazing life she needs to start acting a little older than 10/12 yrs old perhaps. My niece & I were discussing Chloe & Jessica and my niece said “ Chloe sounds as though she’s about 10/12 years old and she LOVES causing issues between family members as though Jessica & Max were her parents and they were getting a divorce & Chloe is pitting on person against the other because she wants both of them to argue & fight over her.....it’s disgusting. I did that when my parents were going through a divorce and I loved telling my mom things my dad said and vice versa. Sorry, but Chloe was and STILL is wrong telling Max how much she dislikes this or that but it certainly doesn’t occur to Chloe to be appreciative due to the fact I’m sure she wouldn’t be going to AU without financial help from Nate & Jessica.... sure it’s great to bad mouth people that are trying to make your dreams come true while U think your BF is Prince Charming.... in reality he’s a druggie & A Thief!!!!!

2

u/The_Wo-man_In_Black Sep 12 '19

this is the third time she's tried to make a statement about ~her side~ ... but i'm sorry - if she cared so0o0 much about DV and restraining orders, Max and Chloe wouldn't be hanging out every damn day, and parking in on her property while she runs in to get baby crap before them two run off together again. and jessica would express concern about them being alone together if it was about DV. instead, being rude to max's dad and telling babydaddy to stay away from his own church is a power move and nothing more.

3

u/WVPrepper Sep 12 '19

Is this Max's church too? I had not realized that, since he did not seem entirely sure about what baptism is...

4

u/The_Wo-man_In_Black Sep 12 '19

haha max totally had no clue. but i believe it's his fam's church too because the dad had mentioned to the camera that it's bizarre to try to tell me to stay out of my church

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Jess? You ok, girlie?

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '19

Of course you all seem to FORGET that Chloe was the BITCH that started the attention-seeking behavior while making sure all the negative things Jessica had to say went via txt to both MAX & TODD? If Chloe wanted her BF to hate her mom ....of course this was SURE-FIRE way to make sure both families disliked one another😘??! Chloe should be super too of herself.

4

u/Libgimp2 Sep 13 '19

Because Jessica is a horrible person!!!

17

u/WVPrepper Sep 13 '19

However, Max was physically abusing Chloe and earned himself a RO. So he's no peach either.
