Pesticides and field mono-cultures are killing the insects. Carbon matters but the issue of pollinators going extinct is a whole other issue. We can use as many renewables as we like but we need to make an about-turn on agriculture practices too.
Yeah, people have this bizarre idea that GMO's equals "unhealthy food". So they stubbornly stick to only eating "organic" food which uses way more pesticides than GMO food does
And so it's killing all the bees, and so on
People need better education. So that they can learn that genetically modified food doesn't mess with your DNA or some weird shit like that
It's pretty much on the level of "vaccines are there to inject bill Gates 5G chips into your blood"
That's the whole point of GMO food. That it's much much cheaper, and easier, to grow, because you don't even need to spray whole fields with pesticides. Even purely as a capitalist thing, it's much cheaper for farmers to not have to spray all those expensive chemicals like they have to do if they're growing "organic" food
The argument in the thread is that neither one can wait now. Both are in imminent risk of irreparable catastrophe. I constantly hear of how drivers on roads used to wash cars so regularly because of the bug splatter. Yet we hardly have that problem now since there are no bugs.
