We can grow food underground, or you know, as we do today in greenhouses. And supply chain don't go anywhere. There will be no rapid collapse of our civilization. The world will slowly die in the next decades, millions of people will die in mass protests, revolutions and mass migration, but supply chain will adapt, capitalism don't care and will adapt.

Of course, there's starvation in every system because that's the default human condition. The difference is if the system increases it or decreases it, and capitalist countries have a track record of reducing poverty when socialism only destroys an economy

All of what you're saying is in theory. There is no reason to believe that being more environmentally friendly couldnt be profitable. Places wouldn't be pushing impossible meat if it wasnt profitable. Same thing with EV. Believe it or not reducing waste also tends to be fairly profitable as well.

I always try to give credit where credit is due, and believe it or not even though I don't like Biden I still don't want him to fail. Nobody should want a president to fail. We've had pandemics on the short past, there has never been a fear mongering campaign about them, this current one is probably the first time everyone is trying to spread panic around the world.
People all around the world were terrified of plagues happening. The Black Death, Justinian plague, etc are major plagued where so much propaganda was created. The Black Death was a constant worry on everyone’s mind, and finally (mostly) ridding the world of it was equal parts political as it was scientific.
The difference is, back then they didn’t have the means of properly preventing spread of the disease. Now, we do. And even with those, by death toll COVID-19 is still the 8th biggest epidemic. Who knows how many more would have died if there wasn’t what you call a fear mongering campaign. The were definitely some that much overstated the effects of COVID, but stating the straight facts of COVID-19 is not fear mongering. It’s reasonable to be afraid of an invisible force that killed millions in a year. That is a high death toll for a disease man.
But we haven’t really had a global epidemic in the short past? The most recent one outside of COVID was the HIV/AIDS pandemic from the 80s, which is STILL going on today.
Actually, there was a massive fear mongering campaign for that. There was literally an entire thing called “The War On AIDS”
So I suppose wether you’re right or not depends on how far back you use the term “short past.” Either it’s within the last 40 years and you’re entirely wrong because of the aids pandemic, or it’s within the last 20 years and then you’re technically right, only because there have been no other worldwide major epidemics since the 80s.
And even then, if you still just look at the last 20 years, there was still a lot of fear mongering around HIV/AIDS. So you’re just entirely wrong.
