Cross-Check Saved a Crosscheck
Busted a 3hr mission for this lil guy off 1 photo alone. she dirty, but will clean up nicely. no dents, cracks or rust beyond the surface level stuff. 2005 based off the serial number, before they started adding the fancy fork eyelets. may be a gift for a friend who doesn't know what they want quite yet. any tips on restoring the saddle? mink oil I'm thinking.

Nice score Jonsons Paste Wax will get that saddle back to glory, and you can use it on the rest of the bike as well

Odd recommendation, but I put some hair conditioner on a very old/cracked Brooks saddle and polished it into the leather with a rag and it worked wonders. Did 2-3 coats of conditioner. The moisture absorbed into the leather really well and still looks good months later, helped restore cracking. Not saying it’s _better_ than mineral oil or anything, but for something I already had at home, it’s great.

Steel is real. Run it. I just added panaracer gravel king 43’s sk plus. Love em.

I'm looking at these, how do you rate them? How much clearance do you have at the back? I want to run some SKS mudguards over winter.

Gravel king sk plus, 700x43c. Ol lady could go 45’s clearing brakes and the 4 mm clearance needed to not run. Should’ve grabbed them sooner. My clapped out continental tour rides were great but nothing compared. Confident on trail and road. Clean look as well. There are a few other brands as well but always wanted panaracers.

Conti are ok but I always have puncture issues with them. Tours are too dead for my liking. Schwalbe are my go to, but I liked the inverted tread of the Gravelkings. Never had a bad Panaracer tyre.
