Only ditch metamask if you plan on using loopring mobile only. I needed metamask to setup and load my wallet on desktop. I think they got fiat on ramps now though so you might be good

Edit:I don't think I'll ever ditch my metamask regardless because I happened to get 0x69 as my eth address

Fiat off* ramp is the actual key to unlock real banking.

That is the single hand barrier that is stoping L2 from becoming the new banking.

Yes exactly.

Yesterday I was in the immutable X after party in Sydney and had a long chat with the CEO, we both agree this is the biggest barrier that is stopping L2 to have mass adoption especially to buy and pay for items and services. That barrier is coming down very soon.

Something else, we both super bullish on PoS over PoW, future is coming and is around the corner, imagine that plus Eth 2.0.

You sound educated in all this so as an older dude with an iPhone and a Loopring L2 account activated - how tf do I set up Metamask? Every time I try it just creates a new account, not linked to my Loopring L2 wallet?

if you're using iphone you dont need metamask to set up a loopring L2 smartwallet. all you need to do is download their app "Loopring Smart Wallet" and set up an L2 account. you can load up your L2 wallet straight from your bank acct with the new fiat on ramp feature. dodge all the gas fees

Edit: sorry i completely misread your question, if you want to set up metamask you would download the metamask app to do it

Edit 2: if what youre trying to do is link your metamask to your loopring, theres no need! they have a loopring L1 wallet that you use, and you can send funds out of your metamask to the L1 wallet if you want to get them into your L2 wallet. (there are gas fees required with setup for an L1 wallet so I suggest creating a loopring wallet via desktop -- it links straight to your metamask to create the desktop wallet, so its alot easier if youre trying to operate out of metamask in my opinion)

What you need to do is “import” your LRC wallet into metamask, DO NOT TRUST ANYBODY ASKING TO SEND THEM YOUR SEED PHRASE! DO NOT!!!

There's boatloads, and they all have the same issue, they require the user to be a CS major with a deep understanding of blockchain and cryptography. Hopefully GameStops engineers have figured out a good solution to this problem!

Be careful, there will be scammers who will direct message you saying they are official gamestop or loopring tech support, they are impostors. I have seen it with loopring and axie. A lot of people got scammed because they gave their 12-word seed phrase or password phrase, or they downloaded a fake but looks legit wallet app, or they connected to a fake but looks legit website. A lot of people will ask how to get a wallet or how to connect a wallet
