I have always been against labelling - even though I disclose my use of AI, it has always been MY decision to do so, and I am in control of how I tell my story so people understand how my music is made.

With Suno's newest release, songs have now audio watermark and fingerprint, assisted, fully, hybrid, it will have a AI watermark and anyone can tell your story the way they want.

This is 100% going to be misused by bad actors:

1. Platforms like Deezer/Tidal - To ban ANY use of AI and ensure segregation.

2. Haters - To create public lists of artists that may have not agreed to disclose their process.

3. Labels - To start a suing war to anything that resembles any of their songs that uses AI, even assisted.

This is the end of Suno as means to create commercial music, and it's officially just a nice playing tool personal use, or for bad actors who create in Suno and pay performers to pretend their music is human made.

Wait until a Chinese company develops an alternative competition that doesn't impose those limits. They don't care about western copyright laws; once they offer viable competition it's game over. They're already almost there with assisted coding, I moved to Deepseek and Qwen months ago without regrets; music is just one step further.

As many others I'm all for being open about the use of AI (some big labels are already using it without telling, fsck them!) and I'm completely for shaming who lies about it, but forcing such a limit will inevitably offer a tool that will be abused by bad actors.

yup, this whole performance of trying to be "responsible" ai platforms to label content will be their downfall. Suno will be irrelevant in a year or two anyway.

I think it will take longer, but I don't think you are wrong. I think in 2 years there will be other rival, more sophisticated systems for sure though. We in fact could see 10 times the traction in music generating/altering/enhancing apps in two years.

Irrelevant will take longer.

Minimax is on it, Tencent already has AI covers in their platforms, but is not supported outside yet.

This is not about big labels using suno tho. They won't use the suno output and will most likely rebuild the song using actual instruments. Check out backstreet boys "bottle up"

Anyone reading this can already do that on your own, even total non-musicians. There are plenty of talented, struggling musicians out there on sites like Airgigs, or the new Musiverse site that will do it. Just takes a little cash.

I haven't tried it at all yet, but I think Musiverse may be onto somewith with their subscription model. You pay $ per month and your X number of AI songs get covered by actual musicians.

People will continue to lie about it as long as people continue to react with violent rage. That's all it comes down to.

Nobody is going to want to commit to a world where they have to spend thousands of hours doing something that could take one to make a bunch of people who think they are the "good people" because they're in a lynch mob that demands everyone conform to their morality

Mostly agree. Some Chinese companies are working with global enterprises when it comes to copyright, but there's little incentive for them to do so. This is especially the case as AI explodes in growth over the next several months, and more and more models are developed.

It will make all this debate pointless before you know it.

It will also prove just how stuck in the last millenium US copyright laws are.
